be warned and make a disclaimer when cutting these kind of vessels... IMPORTANT to ensure vessel is free from combustible residue.. A guy I knew a few year back was cutting into an empty drum, and it exploded giving him serious burns all over his body.. He's alive but permanently disfigured..
Fill it with water before cutting. The water will displace whatever's left in it
yes, the risk is enormous, there is a whole procedure to carry out such work.
And a lot of people don't realize that he took something that was open for a long time, and even rusty inside it is. People end up picking up new containers without knowing the procedures and some cases are fatal.
*Even if it's empty there could be gases inside too.*

@@EulerFink yeah if I do anything involving possible combustible gas a stand far away and shoot it with pellet rifle if it explode then good I made a good call if not then any gas can leak out
That would also make a bomb pizza oven. 10 seconds, pizza is cooked.

Just a reminder, never just start cutting on a propane tank. Always fill it with water to make sure all of the propane is out cause it can explode if there's still some in it and you start cutting on it with a torch or grinder

How are u gonna fill it with water if it's sealed with residue propane. If it's got a hole for water, then any propane would have already been out the tank by the time you even come across and discover the tank. 😂
FYI: Empty propane tanks are often more dangerous than full ones. While no one would cut on a full tank, plenty would cut up an empty one, which could have propane vapors which are infinitely more explosive.
Especially when the oxygen mixes in with the propane residue

What did you line the inside of the tank with was that cement or clay ?
I think it was heat resistant concrete
Not only the prior mention of possible residue in cylinder but also never use galvanized pipe for gas fixtures only black pipe do to the galvanizing reacting to to natural gas
I dont know why but i still find the coal forge to be superior, merely for the fact of how classic it is. To me it comes off as the cigarette vs the old school pipe. There is something just more classy, more true, to the pipe and the coal forge.
Is it more effective... Depends on the smith. Is it cheaper... Probably.
I've come to enjoy both for very different reasons, propane forges are really consistent and easy to use but you're right that a coal forge just has this magic too it, there's something about tending to the forge that just warms the soul

Guys, that wasn’t a propane tank, that was an air compressor tank.
First I was like ‘hookah for 6’ , then we see it’s capacity is MUCH larger like could fit several dozen pounds . Now that’s what I’m talkin about

Can't stress this enough, make shure all flammable gas tanks are completely empty and flushed with fresh air before cutting into them, my friends dad died from cutting one he thought was empty and it blew up and killed him.
*water, not air. Just in case there is still some trace amount of gas left

Раствор должен быть из шамотной глины а не из цемента. Стенка баллона быстро прогорит. Теплоизоляции нет. Болгарка без защитного кожуха. Хорошо хоть варил в маске.

Reminder that tons of people think they got the gas out, but really didn’t, and loose arms or lives cutting/welding these. Make sure to do your research and be extra cautious when working with tanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the concrete spall if heated to such high degrees especially over and over. Even more so if used before a full week or two or curing??

What kind of cement or mortar is used inside the furnace? Nothing on the outside? I've see furnace made out of concrete poured into a 5 gallon bucket for melting scrap metal into billets of copper brass or aluminium
