You would think there would be a cutting tool for the lathe that has the same half moon shape to it and then you just find the center side of the puck and push it in as the puck is rotating and it cuts out the same half moon/half tube shape as whatever that other machine was in like 1/10th the time

Die is the right word 🤯 dye is what you use to change colours on stuff like clothing food and other stuff that will take a color 😊 while die also means "when death happens or you stop living" in this case it means a device for cutting or molding metal into a particular shape. 😁
Hope this helps you get a better understanding of English as it can be a bit confusing at times (like all the time) 😇
