The informal 4-day workweek is such a good idea. In "Deep Work", Cal Newport pointed to a study of a consultancy firm that made Friday a "deep work" day - no client meetings, no internal meetings, etc. Productivity went up, client results improved, and the consultants got more done... It's one of the reasons I left my corporate job - they just wanted to keep us grinding and they couldn't see how a shift like that would help with their long-term goals. Great episode - keep them coming!
WhY is this video and channel so underrated?? Their philosophy of writing and the way they articulate their ideas through their experience in life is crazY!! thank youu
Writers have a different way of looking at things. They're just brilliant. This is a gift for all of us to listen and watch how their brain works discussing topics relevant to us too
Key takeaways: 13 min: live in european time zone but work in US timezone - no onslaught of messages the minute you wake up. 30 min: don't build a business that imprisons you more than the job you want to leave. don't work at 100% capacity, and spending all that working IN the business. reserve at least 10% to work ON the business. 35 min: align team mid morning, close loop mid afternoon. be intentional about closing open loop before the day is over.
The time/efficiency tax was my big highlight - love the anology of having to pay your taxes. When you frame it as something you just have to do, it seems more like a responsibility than a luxury. But unlike your taxes, the X% of your time that you reinvest will compound your efficiency over time; and that’s how you can snowball your business. I’d love to pay a tax that made my business better 😂

I love the idea of thinking about an ideal quarter rather than an ideal day. And the “prison or castle” idea truly resonates.
