@8:32 Knot should have been at the shoulder and not the back. if patient gets dizzy and needs to lie down, the knot would make them uncomfortable. But great job for teaching the kids. Kudos sir

      Thanks for your comment! 😊💖🤙
The purpose of that sling is to bear some of the weight of an injured arm or shoulder for a person who needs to be transported upright. A knot on the top of the weight-bearing shoulder may be uncomfortable. If the person is supine, a sling would likely be unnecessary. Your insight is much appreciated, Sir! Cheers! 😊

@@outdoorDADventure what we do(and teach) in Red Cross is, we tie the knot on the uninjured shoulder of the patient for it to carry the weight. Add to that, we wrap the injured arm with an open cravat to immobilize it around the patients own body. You are right that this technique is used for upright patient but the correct placement of the knot is done to anticipate if ever the patients condition worsen or if they wanted to simply feel comfortable and lie down...

Totally cool! Thanks for sharing! 😊👍
I also suggest using a broad cravat to serve as a "binder" to prevent the arm from swinging forward. Probably more applicable to shoulder injuries, for helping immobilization.

@@outdoorDADventure the open cravat i mentioned is already the "binder".
