"Dearly Beloved II" is our second version of Shimomura's iconic "Dearly Beloved" melody, following the one we first created in LIGHT. For DARKNESS, we decided to write a theme and variations of all the different "Dearly Beloved" arrangements that we've been given throughout the games, melded together in a way that tracked the history of the series.
Of note: every single character in Kingdom Hearts is quoted somewhere throughout this piece in some form--we thought it might be fun to hide them around! You may also notice an additional original melody that we often paired with "Dearly Beloved" in order to help link the arrangement together as a cohesive whole.

In celebration of KINGDOM HEARTS and the stunning melodies of Yoko Shimomura, Utada Hikaru, Takeharu Ishimoto, and Tsuyoshi Sekito, we present Project Destati’s second volume.
DARKNESS is the highly-anticipated follow-up album to Project Destati’s 2014 Billboard-charting soundtrack album “LIGHT.” The album is a musical amalgamation of fan-favorite themes from the KINGDOM HEARTS series, re-assembled in an all-new fashion like long-forgotten memories.
Featuring a live string orchestra and industry-leading soloists, DARKNESS is a dark, grand, and mysterious musical experience that aims to capture Tetsuya Nomura’s own imagination.

I believe 0:26 is Link to All, if I'm not mistaken. Or at least sounds like the Re:Mind one even though this predates that game.
What is so great about this and all of Project Destati's work is that they do more than simply cover a song. They elevate a song, incorporate other themes and new variations. Their songs are smart and make you think, yet also create a deep sense of meaning inside you that is rarely achieved by any other artist of their kind. Thank you, Project Destati. You are incredible.
A large chunk of this composition is directly copied from the "Tokyo Active NEET" orchestration of the Touhou theme "Dream Battle". I find it highly unfair Project Destati didn't credit them in the description.

This theme deserves to be in KH3. A true "After the storm, comes the calm" moment, where the Keyblade War is finished and all it took was the combination of perserverance, love, friendship, all connected by one boy's heart. Maybe the light will prevail. And with the morning, comes a new start, a new adventure...
Congratulations to all team from Project Destati!!! The project DARKNESS, alongside LIGHT, are among the best renditions of orchestral music I have ever heard, and I can only hope Mr. Nomura and Ms. Shimomura could listen to this and congratulate the all team as well.
From all your album, I specially loved your descriptions to the musics we're about to hear (I can only think about Deems Taylor in Disney's Fantasia, where he presents the compositions we're going to hear, saying those lines).

Edit: Having played it, I'd say KH3 doesn't deserve to have this song in it.
When I heard the original, untouched Dearly Beloved in this, I got goosebumps. It was so nostalgic, and I admire how you took the time to just add that small price of untouched music. The rest of song was also incredible; I love the 3D Dearly Beloved, it's one of my favorite variations, because it sounds unique and fun. Thank you Project Destati for giving us all these amazing remakes! What you do is so much more than a cover. You guys take a peice of music, an idea, and weave in threads of other songs, sounds, and variations, and create something more beautiful than what you originally had. Music is the art that decorates time, and all of you at Project Destati are incredible artists. Great job on this song, this album, and everything you have created! I love your work!

I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS DOESN'T HAVE MORE VIEWS!!!!!! It's just absolutely GRAND- a culmination of nostalgia and emotions of my childhood.... each rendition just makes me more and more emotional... like they tell a specific event that happened in the Kingdom Hearts timeline.... the entire Darkness suite is absolutely AMAZING but this track is my most favorite.
This should be....... KH4's "March Caprice"........

I dont play KH series, more on the FF sides. But this track .... always makes me come back to it. It sort of describes the journey of a young child from start of the journey> to failing > getting up > becoming The Hero > ending the destiny > looking back to it all in one piece.

This perfectly re-captures the experience of finishing a KH game : the controller's on your lap, you start jamming to the music and BAM you get hit with a massive wave of nostalgia. Incredible way to end the album, thank you Project Destati.

Project Destati, thank you for composing this fantastic music for the fandom and providing it on RUclips. You have displayed excellent musicianship in performing these incredibly well-written arrangements from Kingdom Hearts. You understand the artistic power of themes and motifs, and you hide many of these throughout your music to reward those who truly listen to this music. I have thoroughly enjoyed your performances of these songs, and you have earned yourself yet another subscriber, who eagerly awaits the completion and release of your third album, and hopefully more beyond that.
While this is far from my favorite version of Dearly Beloved--partly due to some variations being more exciting than soothing, partly because I don't think the light and cheery section inspired by Dream Drop Distance lives up to par--I really appreciate the length of quality music. Generally being a relaxing song with a looping melody, one may often enjoy listening to Dearly Beloved for long periods; I like that now I can do that without hearing the exact same thing every two minutes, rather having unique variations on the theme instead.
For the record, my favorite version of Dearly Beloved is from the First Breath album. Firstly, I find it to be one of the most soothing arrangements, especially the first half of the song, fitting the original's somber effect. Secondly, Dream Drop Distance's version has that unique, lighthearted, cheerful tone, effectively portraying the game's more fun attributes--notably the lofty gameplay mechanics and the dream-eaters--as if inside a fantastic dream. The First Breath version captures that same essence in it's performance of the piece. Thirdly, First Breath is performed by a concert band. I may be a little biased on this point, and admittedly I love a good string orchestra; but, going without strings really allows the beauty of the wind instruments to shine, each part being clearly distinct without disturbing the balance of sound. It's a song I can just as easily fall asleep to (due to it's soothing perfection) as I can think about the musical presence of each part overlapping one another in harmony. If you haven't listened to this album, or if you haven't considered it as a source for inspiration, I highly recommend listening to it.
I know this comment has been more about another version of the song than Project Destati or it's performance for this song, but I honestly found this track a little disappointing. And rather than focus on what might be wrong, I decided to highlight attributes of my favorite version that were missing from this one. Dearly Beloved, as both a menu theme and a game clear theme, is a song of relaxation from the intense story of the series, a nap to slow down and enjoy the game. There was nothing truly wrong with this interpretation of the theme and it's variations, but it lacks that artistic inspiration that I hear in the rest of Project Destati. I hope this criticism is not found too harsh; Project Destati is doing what I could only hope to do. I merely hope that whoever reads this would so much as understand my perspective and respect my opinions as I respect theirs.

I put it in a my list called "Eizlyn", because it means in Old Irish it means "beautiful, dream". This piece of music is great to listen whenever I need to feel and think calmly and peacefully.

You know these guys know their stuff when it comes to kh soundtracks and yokos work especially. They keep her style intact and spice it up and make it their own, these guys don’t just make covers just for the hell of it, they clearly love this franchise just like the rest us

But in all seriousness tho, this just gives me an emotional mixture of nostalgia, sadness, and determination. Soon the journey that we have made with our friends in Kingdom Hearts will end, and while this is sad, we still have one more chapter in this story, where we fight for the friends that we have made, lost, and save, with so much at stake, but with a reward that is too good to pass up: peace among the worlds we travel.
