    One thing I’ve learned is it’s easy to neglect the snack and or lunch timing when you’re on the go or having an action packed day. You have to make it a point to hydrate, and create 15-20 minutes for a lunch and snack time window to keep up with the output, give your eyes and body a quick break and keep it all going on a long hunt.

    @gritty these discussions are fantastic. So enlightening and entertaining. Personally I’d like to see a show that is more focused on your weapons,ie: rifles and scopes and the range prep and training that goes along with the incredible shot you all make. For you and @stealthyhunter to continually make long range “one shot kills” you have to be spending quality range time.

Pollution free made in America 🇺🇸 most minerals are all imported from China 🇨🇳 I use this product for our meals drinks etc and I use these products on our farmland (150lbs per acre/per yr to get minerals back onto our lands)and for my livestock daily intake (Grassfed cattle, Grassfed sheep) eat healthy live healthy - IMO - thanks again for great content

    We freeze dry a lot of meals and a lot of stuff out of the garden. Got to be careful though, some things don’t preserve well. It’s not good when you are in the back-country your meal is not edible. Really have to watch anything with to much fat or sugars/syrups.

    I stole from Eric Chesser at Hushin, he packs a thing of johnsonville brats with him. Just stick them in the snow and you are golden. Also Starkist makes a bunch of different flavored single meal tuna/chicken packs. I'll do a buffalo chicken flavored one with some tortillas, bacon, and cheese. To die for man. Food is always the heaviest thing in my pack for sure too.

    First, I love you guys but this pod cast killed me! Thankfully I had a 4 hour drive back from a weekend bear hunt to listen to it. I have been backcountry hunting my whole life but I still struggle to dial in my food. I was hoping to get more out of this video in terms of ideas on actual meal/snack ideas. Unfortunately I have an auto immune disease and can’t eat anything with dairy, nuts, seeds or gluten and constantly struggle to get enough calories in the backcountry. I’m excited to check out the stehealthy gut stuff. Sure wish freeze dryers were affordable for the blue collar guy 🤦🏼‍♂️

    In a recent video post mark had a dehydrated smoothie bag. What was that and is there a recipe for dehydrated smoothies when in the field?

    • @GrittyGearAndPodcast
      @GrittyGearAndPodcast  Год назад +1

      It was freeze dried bites from his Harvest Right. You can make your smoothie at home and pour it into a tray that has 1"x1" squares. You then drop them into a bag that you can vacuum seal up. Eat them individually as the bites or add water to all of them to create a smoothie on the mountain. They are great and having a freeze dryer at home allows you to create meals and snacks that you know you like and enjoy on the mountain.

      @@dvhfilm2948 - Black bears that live near human populations are far more dangerous and fearless than wild black bears that live in extremely remote mountain regions. So, we hang food in black bear only areas where the black bears are known to be fairly aggressive-some regions of SE Alaska or British Columbia or even areas near mountain towns in CO or MT or other places like that.

      They are expensive, but if you think about it. About 25-30 freeze dried meals and it has paid for itself. Food preservation is great. You can freeze dry uncooked meat and have it on the shelf for a long time. 15-25 years without loosing much nutrition. Also, making snacks for the family is always great.
