It's not a threat, it's a promise that she means from the bottom of her heart. 😂
Sweeter the smile, the deeper the knife!!! 😂🔥😂
The southern thing is to speak mean barbs through a sticky sweet smile. There's something more vile about it.
She is a true southern lady she will tell off with a smile on her face which means you better get out of her way .
Yeap... fear the phrase...
"Well, bless your heart "..
That smile tells you she's dangerous
The thing is Loretta did mean it...she wrote this diddy on the tour bus after catching her husband 'Do' (Dolittle Lynn) with someone in a car, I believe...Whatta straight-shootin' woman Loretta was...RIP Mam. Thanks for sharing.
I could be wrong but I thought that’s when she wrote You ain’t woman enough to take my man.
@@tracy8508 could be...but she wrote it because of Do. She wrote quite a few songs about him, his drinking, and/or fooling around with other women. She was quite a lady.
This song was written directed towards the school bus driver that told one of her kids that they were going to have a new Mom, because she and their Dad were going to get married. Hence, "detour around MY town". Remember, when Loretta bought the Mansion and Ranch, the Town of Hurricane Mills was INCLUDED in the purchase.
He really put her through it
I saw Loretta in concert with Conway Twitty, in Lexington Kentucky in 1978. I was working at the concert/sports venue where the concert was held. I do believe that the entire population of Butcher Holler, Kentucky, her hometown, was in the audience that night. After the concert, she and Conway sat on the stage and signed autographs and took pictures for over 2 hours. They were the nicest, most gracious performers I remember from those days.
She has a ton of songs inspired by real life situations. You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man, Don't Come Home Drinkin' With Lovin' On Your Mind, You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly, etc.
That polite thing is truly a southern thing. If a smiling southern woman ever looks you in the eyes and says "Bless your heart," run, do not walk, away.
She also wrote some of the most progressive songs of all time. “The Pill,” “Rated X,” and “Don’t Come Home A’Drinkin (With Lovin on Your Mind)” were groundbreaking songs for the acknowledgment of female bodily autonomy and the stigma of female divorce. She is still the most radio-banned artist in FCC history.
Check out "You Ain't Woman Enough" by Loretta, Do was a "hound dog"
I loved the look on your face when you first started watching this one. Just about any of her songs would be great but she really did earn her title of Queen of Country.
Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn did several albums together. Check out "Lousiana Woman, Mississippi Man" and "You're the Reason Our Kids are Ugly".
Loretta admitted herself she was a scrapper. She and her husband owned a town, Hurricane Mills, TN. So, when she says, "You better detour around my town," she's saying stay away from my home.
You need more Loretta Lynn in your life. Watch the movie "Coal Miners Daughter," about Loretta life. Also check out her duets with Conway Twitty. RIP to Loretta & Conway. I miss them both. My favorite duet team!
Listen to " Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man."
Loretta was a national treasure, and her passing was a great loss for us all.
A couple of weeks before my mother died I took her to see Loretta Lynn live. Mom sang along quietly to the songs which embarrassed me at the time. What a great memory now. Loretta died two years later.
there is no such thing as a wrong song by Mis Loretti. She does an entire album with Jack White of the White Stripes that is awesome if you're intrested. She wrote something like 14 banned songs about woman's rights that are just great. Check out the pill or rated x or one's on the way or ah hell, just check em all out Your girls will have a a lot of fun singing along to them. RIP Miss Loretta, meeting you was one of the best days of my life; talking to you was just like talking to any of of my aunties. Great memories.
I just commented to listen to Portland Oregon with Jack 😊
Van Lear Rose with Jack White is a 10/10 album. Best album ever made by a person in their 70s.
One of my Loretta favorites. And that steel guitar is classic golden country sound.
Loretta really is a coal miners daughter & her humble upbringing kept her very down to earth. She has a duet with Conway Twitty called 'You're the reason our kids are ugly'. She was a sassy gal. ~ Loretta's granddaughter Emmy Russel is on American Idol right now. She is in the top 20 so far & has a great voice. She also is doing original music (not country).
She also holds the record for the most banned songs from the radio.
"You ain't woman enough to take my man" is great!!
Gotta love Loretta Lynn. Great job with your reaction to Fist City 💜
She smiles as she threatens. Love it!
I grew up listening to Loretta and the other icons of that era. I enjoy classical, rock, some metal, and maybe some jazz once in a while, but I’m a country girl for sure. The last few days I’ve been listening to some classic country on Spotify. Many I haven’t listened to in years. Nice trip down nostalgia road.
Say it with a big smile shows you mean business.
Loretta=Legend!
Next you should react to You ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man.
She still held a grudge against that woman til the day she died. She sang this song in the 60s. She sang another badass song late in her career called RUBY'S STOOL about what happened in a honky tonk (a little bar with a small stage for live country music) one night. She had that spiciness her entire life.
Tanya Tucker (when she was 14) sang a couple of story songs that dealt with a young kid caught up in adult situations. It was this dichotomy that not only put her on the charts but took her to number one and to this date she is still mega popular. Those songs are What's Your Mama's Name, and Blood Red and Goin' Down.
Let's not forget her signature song is DELTA DAWN. Not about a kid in an adult situation, but huge hit for her at such a young age.
@@michaelfarmer9472 So true but perhaps you have forgotten the song she wrote when she was 14--No Man's Land, which appeared on her Would You Lay With Me, album. In that song, a young girl is raped and the man is caught and sent to prison. From that day onward, the girl (Molly) would not let any man touch (or get close to) her. She went to school and studied nursing. Finally, while the rapist was ill in prison years later, he was desperately ill and when the nurse came to see it, it was Molly.
She paved the way for all of the female country singers that came after her. There will never be another quite like her. Her granddaughter is doing great on American Idol this season.
Update: EMMY ROSE RUSSELL WAS ELIMINATED. She's in good spirits, her confidence has been boosted, and she knows she nor anyone else will fill her Mee-Maw's shoes...and she's taking her own path.
She was definitely a classic
Loretta wrote her songs about real life
I'm a German, living in Germany and I always liked country music. When I was a teenager, I used to listen to the Country Music Count Down on AFN (American Forces Network), as the US Army was stationed near us.
When we were stationed in Munich, in the mid 1980s, there was a shopping mall just outside of the city, and on Saturdays, there was a country singer (a young German man) who would come and play his guitar and sing American country songs. He also dressed as a cowboy and brought his horse with him. Most of the Germans I knew liked country music.
she got another scrappy song done with the same big smile right the way through it called 'You isn't woman enough to take my man' tis a great
There's nothing like genuine southern sass.
Her grandaughter is on this season's American Idol.
Patty Loveless, Loretta's distant cousin, official video, Nothin' But the Wheel.
She was supporting woman when she came out with the song( The Pill)!❤❤
I was raised in the south, where women will tell you off with a sweet smile. And be advised, when we say "Bless Your Heart", it is not a compliment.
In the time she recorded no one could express anything but happiness while singing on TV. Women especially had to walk a narrow line while performing.
You need to watch “Coal miners daughter” it’s one of L Loretta’s songs and they turned it into a movie about how she was brought up
Many of her songs including this one came from actual life. Her husband was an issue…. But they loved and stayed married till death.
Rappers would call this a 'Dis' track. Loretta has a couple of them.
I saw Loretta as a child in the 60’s with my mom. What you see is what you get. She was not pretentious at all.
I love it too brother!
I've always said we are going to go to fist city if you don't watch it! Then of course I laugh! Love your reaction to Loretta!
been loving this for so long. it is hysterical along with "you're the reason our kids are ugly" with conway twitty
She was one of the first women to sing from a point of a woman being a sexual being, not just a ‘wife and mom’. She did it in a ladylike way. She had a song called ‘Out of My Head and Back in My Bed’ a few years later.
She also did a song, "The Pill" about birth control.
Smile...sending daggers...smile.....sending daggers...smile..... lololol true authentic mountain southern....come on..."you want to go to fist ciy?... hahaha...I'm authentic....let's go....
Hilarious, I never heard that one. It's like how sweet southern women say bless your heart but that's not what they mean.
Have bever heard this before - love it!
Her younger sister is Crystal Gayle, another big talent.
Back then my mama fought a couple times , hair pulling, black eyes. And going into tan that is you seen so & so with a black eye she would be proud to tell people she had put it there
You did not mess with Loretta!!
Fear the phrase...
"Well, Bless your heart"
You will also like ( You ain't Woman enough to take My Man)!❤❤❤❤
❤
She did it for real
The movie Coal Miner’s Daughter is the best movie to watch to see where & how hard Loretta worked to be the 1st Woman of Country Music. Great Movie!!
She was tiny too
You need to watch the movie The Coal Miners Daughter!
Oh, you laugh...but, SHE was dead serious! She said what she had to say, right or wrong, if anyone liked it or not! She eas the same in person, at home, and on stage. She never forgot where she came from NOR eho put her where she went (the fans, whom she called "FRIENDS"). She wrote or co-wrote nearly every song she recorded. Most of those songs were from her teal life experiences, and almost all of those had something about her hisband in them. He didn't mind. He told her that if she was going to tell it, tell the truth. He put her through hell...but he was her biggest supporter, her biggest fan, and her ONLY boyfriend/husband. She was so grateful to her "FRIENDS", that before she passed away, she wrote and recorded a final "Thank You" to us for affording her the success she gained, which was played at the very beginning of her Memorial Service.
❤❤❤
Loretta Lynn's husband was not always faithful. She actually broke 2 of his fingers when she caught him in a car messing around with another woman. She was sweet as could be but she was full of fire too. She is greatly missed ❤
Listen to Portland Oregon by Loretta & Jack White of White Stripes
you should listen to chapel hart they did a song for loretta and one for dolly
Would love you to review Loretta Lynn's controversial song THE PILL. Banned on many radio stations.
#LORETTALYNN
Ms Loretta is a badass.
Check out the Movie Coal Miner's daughter. Best Bio-pic ever.
If you want to see some unique guitar playing check out Junior Brown.
True song it really happen to her
Next check out her song, "You Aint Woman Enough to Take My Man."
Love Loretta. R.I.P
Another great Loretta song is called The Pill. When it first came out, radio disc jockeys wouldn't play it on the radio stations.
Please check out her songs The Pill and Also You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man.
Her Duets with Conway Twitty are great too. Lead Me On and You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly
Dolly begged a woman not to take her man. Loretta said you ain’t woman enough to take my man and if you try I’ll take you to fist city
When she says grab you by the hair lift you off the ground that is or was called a helicopter where you grab someone by the hair and spin around so fast that that persons feet come off the ground
She wrote this song after her husband messed around yet again. lol
She wrote her songs
New here man!! Have you herd of or listen to for king and country? If not you should check them out great music
Loretta wrote her songs about her life experiences... And they were true country songs.. Can Jelly Roll sing a Charley Pride song.. does he even know who Charley is?? I feel that country music has been used as a vehicle for ppl that couldn't make it in their own genre.. so they just come to country.. Country music is so not the same anymore.
Please listen to “ you ain’t woman enough to take my man”
She wouldn't have put up with Jolene.
Fist City? I've seen that movie. Very happy ending.
😁FAFO
Your talking to fast
Loretta can tell u off and never curse or break a smile!!!! That’s some of that good southern “bless your heart” attitude
