      The world isn’t interested - Samsung knows this from past experience. Right now it’s a niche feature - the inclusion of a Linux container tells you exactly what market sector they’re aiming at.
      If adoption among techies leads to more development of open source Linux software with desktop support built in, maybe Samsung will push the feature more then.
      But for now, the software support isn’t there for this to be a mass market device.

So if this gets more packed even on even only Android with full support of office then I'm sold. There is nothing better than having a one device for everything.
      And with base models starting at 256gb then no need for sd cards.

    • @jaztin7197
      @jaztin7197 5 лет назад +15

      @dood ayev first of all, the mobile version looks worse than the Switch version. Look up the comparisons.
      Second of all, literally all consoles limits your controller type, and I bet you haven't used the Switch Pro controller.
      Third and last one, the switch is way cheaper, and I bet that a mobile phone wouldn't support games like Skyrim, The Witcher, Doom, Wolfenstein, etc. The fortnite thing can also be due to poor optimization by epic games.
      That's it. Simple as that.

    • @jaztin7197
      @jaztin7197 5 лет назад +6

      @dood ayev Again, it's a console. Every console is like that.
      You don't have your priorities straight if you compare a console to a mobile phone.
      And again, fortnite in mobile looks different than fortnite in switch. On switch it looks better, there are a lot of comparisons outside.
      I can buy a used PS4 for 150 but that doesn't change the fact that the console itself cost 300, I can buy a S10 plus for 800 but doesn't change the fact that it's a thousand dollars phone.
      If you want that kind of freedom, a console isn't for you. Just buy a PC. But don't compare a console to a mobile phone because that's just ridiculous lmao

    Switched from iOS to Galaxy Note 9 for this! Hated having several computers etc and we need large screen mostly for video editing and audio recording on a DAW. Power Director and Adobe Premier Rush work awesome full screen in DEX for video editing with zero lag. Plus I can connect an external hard drive thru my dongle which has 3 usb slots, SD slot, HDMI and power through. For audio I use Audio Evolution studio (trust me it's a FULL featured DAW on android! And works fullscreen in DEX) along with usb audio interface for mic and guitar etc. Most photo editing apps work in DeX as well. Galaxy note 9 with 512 GB is basically more powerful than the last laptop I had... a macbook pro. With extra SD slot I have 1 Tb of storage in my phone! I always hated Windows and now my whole computer is literally in my pocket thanks to DeX!! My only beef is that I got a FHD monitor instead of 4k. It was on sale LOL and I wasn't sure how DEX would pan out. I'll upgrade to a 4k later.

      On the official Dex Station and Dex Pad devices, you can pass through power to charge the device while using it in dex mode, and the same can be done with many of the hdmi adapters that work for dex mode. Most people I've talked to said the phone stays cool on the official devices thanks to the cooling fans, but without fans using regular adapters the phones only get mildly warm. Expect around the same kind of temperatures you normally get when using the phone for gaming.

    This is how a showcase of Dex and its potential emulation/productivity should be done. I have an S10+ myself, and the possibilities for entertainment and portable productivity are really indulging. I came from an S7 Active, and while I felt it was great for PS1 and GBA emulation, the possibility of playing Soul Calibur II and using it like a portable in-bed console (with something like a Dualshock 4) is truly exciting. Great video.

      I will tell you a use of Samsung Dex.
      I go to college. If my teachers write anything on the board or do any projection . I take pictures of those or I write it on my Samsung note.
      Next time , If my teachers tell me to do any homework or do any PowerPoint based on those . I don't need to transfer those pictures or Notes to my PC . I can just directly connect to my large 42 inch monitor and opening pictures/Notes and Microsoft word/PowerPoint Side by side and do it quick. No hassle. I can open the browser on the side like a Desktop.
      Of course iPhone users can't do that.

    Connect your Samsung charger to a compatible USB C hub with HDMI out by plugging it into one of the ports. No powered hub to buy and you can connect (for example) USB flash drives, any display by using a compatible HDMI to whatever adapter (I use the DVI and VGA inputs on my desktop displays), and any combo of external keyboard and mice you prefer as the hub permits wireless adapters. You could connect a supported wired network adapter if that suits your system.
    If your phone supports wireless charging and you have no hub you can still use the USB C connector for one item at a time while continuing to charge since charging is outside the USB connection.
    You can also use DeX while using your phone as a mobile hotspot for other computers.
    When my local grid goes down I charge my phone and run one display via an inverter for a lower current draw than my notebooks. DeX could be ideal for off-grid use as most people use the internet for content consumption and don't need what desktops and servers do or need them all the time. You can of course repurpose old phones as servers on your LAN, covered in a few videos and deserving of a fresh one. Phone batteries provide a built-in UPS making them superior to a pieced-together solution.
