In this video, I test out DEX on the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Run some benchmarks test some games like Fortnite, Minecraft, and PUBG. I also test some emulation on Dex using Redream for Dreamcast PPSSPP for PSP and Dolphin for Gamecube and finally, we take a look at Linux On dex.

Dex is one of most underrated features of Samsung smartphones
It's not underrated it's just nobody really need it... I have laptop I care with me everywhere I go. I use it at home for work and fun. I dont need all this info on my phone.

@@criptoejesus except Samsung does it better,
@@meowritz Huawei does it too, unlike Samsung you can do it wirelessly. No Linux though.
The world isn’t interested - Samsung knows this from past experience. Right now it’s a niche feature - the inclusion of a Linux container tells you exactly what market sector they’re aiming at.
If adoption among techies leads to more development of open source Linux software with desktop support built in, maybe Samsung will push the feature more then.
But for now, the software support isn’t there for this to be a mass market device.
@@nialltracey2599 also I think the reason they're waiting is that the most of the apps aren't optimized enough. There's nothing more annoying than apps that aren't optimized and it would be a buzz kill for the general audience.
Good job,
You are the first person to actually point out what DEX is capable of!
and you are probably the only one who is aware of Linux on Dex which is imho absolutely great thing to have on a smartphone.

This is the future we want from smartphones. As expensive and powerful as they have gotten we the consumers would like an all-in-one device.
Microsoft and Samsung just announced a close partnership. Samsung made a new Windows on ARM laptop. DeX can run Linux. I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see DeX run Windows 10 ARM in the near future.
This has been around for a few years already. Hardly the future

Nintendo switch, gaming console

Will galaxy s10 price are 4x Nintendo switch or 3x ps4 price so keep that in mined
@dood ayev yeah you right , but the guy was complaining about the poor performers of Nintendo switch and I want to remind him of the price deference so it will start make sense , switch have an old hardware therefore its so cheap compare to galaxy s10
@dood ayev first of all, the mobile version looks worse than the Switch version. Look up the comparisons.
Second of all, literally all consoles limits your controller type, and I bet you haven't used the Switch Pro controller.
Third and last one, the switch is way cheaper, and I bet that a mobile phone wouldn't support games like Skyrim, The Witcher, Doom, Wolfenstein, etc. The fortnite thing can also be due to poor optimization by epic games.
That's it. Simple as that.
@dood ayev Again, it's a console. Every console is like that.
You don't have your priorities straight if you compare a console to a mobile phone.
And again, fortnite in mobile looks different than fortnite in switch. On switch it looks better, there are a lot of comparisons outside.
I can buy a used PS4 for 150 but that doesn't change the fact that the console itself cost 300, I can buy a S10 plus for 800 but doesn't change the fact that it's a thousand dollars phone.
If you want that kind of freedom, a console isn't for you. Just buy a PC. But don't compare a console to a mobile phone because that's just ridiculous lmao
@@jaztin7197 well, if i look at my switch and at my s10+, i'm sure my s10+ looks way better
As someone who generally veers away from Samsung products, I have to admit; this is quite impressive. I particularly like the idea of only having to charge one device. Having the Xbox One controller work is icing on the cake.
Joey Numbers honestly if this gets Windows running well then I will gladly sell my 2 pcs. I only browse Web and office. Never have I ever played a game on pc. I only play on mobile like pubg. So if this gets more packed even on even only Android with full support of office then I'm sold. There is nothing better than having a one device for everything.
And with base models starting at 256gb then no need for sd cards.
The only bad side I guess is having to changé the battery every year since I'll be using the device a lot but that's still cheaper than buying a pc every 5 years and à smartphone every 2 years.
@@MlayehSaber btw, all samsung phones comes with pre-installed office apps. So you can do away offices works on them if you don't already know.

Switched from iOS to Galaxy Note 9 for this! Hated having several computers etc and we need large screen mostly for video editing and audio recording on a DAW. Power Director and Adobe Premier Rush work awesome full screen in DEX for video editing with zero lag. Plus I can connect an external hard drive thru my dongle which has 3 usb slots, SD slot, HDMI and power through. For audio I use Audio Evolution studio (trust me it's a FULL featured DAW on android! And works fullscreen in DEX) along with usb audio interface for mic and guitar etc. Most photo editing apps work in DeX as well. Galaxy note 9 with 512 GB is basically more powerful than the last laptop I had... a macbook pro. With extra SD slot I have 1 Tb of storage in my phone! I always hated Windows and now my whole computer is literally in my pocket thanks to DeX!! My only beef is that I got a FHD monitor instead of 4k. It was on sale LOL and I wasn't sure how DEX would pan out. I'll upgrade to a 4k later.
WOW, Finally an official Android desktop OS powered by a Snapdragon 855.
You find and post some of the most interesting stuff. Thank you!
I can't wait to find a SBC or Chromebook with a Snapdragon 855 as it's main CPU.
This isn't a Chromebook but, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy book S will run on a snapdragon 8cx (still a arm chip but it can outperform the Intel i5 apparently) and windows 10 on ARM can emulate x86 programs although it's running on a ARM processor
@@reunh8451 Give us the ability to run ARM linux on that thing and i'll fall in love with it
Snapdragon 855 not 845
Actually this is 855
Chromebooks are supposed to be cheap, the snapdragon is not.
But there already chromebooks with exynos, rk3399 and other ARM chips.
Embrace the convergence folks. This trend will continue.

Thank you for doing this video, I've been using Dex for a while and I'm glad to see that you are making a video on it.
Amazing! I wish I knew more about this before purchasing iPhone X. Samsung devices truly are the pinnacle of productivity.
Windows Phone did this in exactly the same way through USBC quite some years ago. Except the interface you got was Windows, so even easier for anyone to use. Full Microsoft Office and whatnot.
@mrcolonofficial And we have Google to thank for that.
When I got my Note9, I instantly was blown away by dex. If you wanted to, you could use your phone as your home pc, complete with built in internet connection, giving you the ability to stop paying for a monthly internet provider.
Because you already have the connection onboard.

Thank you so much for testing this ETA Prime! I’m assuming Retroarch runs awesome?
Absolutely all I wanted to know. Thanks for the video
You did such a good job showcasing this feature! I've been educating people on Dex since the Note 8. I have the note 9 and have the dex docking thing and I use dex for work, my business, budgeting, and a lot of gaming. I have a gaming desktop and a Alienware laptop and a new HP ultra thin laptop, and I without noticing prefer my phone/dex. The ease of use and having it doubling as my phone and pc while I work.
Geez! That's what I call minimalism!!
My concern is the battery and how much it would heat up when playing.
If you get a dock that also charges the phone, it seems to prevent it from overheating.
On the official Dex Station and Dex Pad devices, you can pass through power to charge the device while using it in dex mode, and the same can be done with many of the hdmi adapters that work for dex mode. Most people I've talked to said the phone stays cool on the official devices thanks to the cooling fans, but without fans using regular adapters the phones only get mildly warm. Expect around the same kind of temperatures you normally get when using the phone for gaming.
Samsung sells a dock that includes active cooling, ethernet, hdmi, charging and 2 usb 2.0. Compatible with all the phones, not with the tablets as well.
The only cure is having a removable battery or a true cut where the battery is no longer involved in the phone operation and doesn't accept or use any power. The tech is there.
If you use your phone like a PC, which you CAN do with DEX, power users MUST keep their phones cool. Overheating can be a problem. I just place it on a small fan.
The best Dex review I've seen so far. I think the full chrome browser inside Linux is really exciting. Good job on the video.

This is how a showcase of Dex and its potential emulation/productivity should be done. I have an S10+ myself, and the possibilities for entertainment and portable productivity are really indulging.
