Especially here in germany it is hard to educate to a professional level as artist and be recocnized as such. “If it is not of use for any industry, its a waste of time and live.“ Oh boy :/ But do we in such harch times not more than ever need something that is for the people and not just an money grabbing economy? Self educating since almost 6 years now, and still not quiet there and i am in my 30s now. Well. As long as my heart still burns even a little for it, i wont give up! :3 (You are one of my greatest idols btw. ^^°)
Took me nearly 20 years to figure this out. How I see it is that you have to learn to step into the darkness, into the unknown. To get comfortable with not knowing, and the idea that you might never know. To just be there, and play. Perhaps one day you will discover something, perhaps you are lost forever. To be lost in the unknown is the natural state as an artist. It is by pushing into this unknown, by feeling around, free from fear and needs, etc, that we perhaps find things we like, that we discover art. Once something is discovered, a trick which works, a tool, a stroke of the pen, you can put it in your bag of tricks to use again when it makes sense. Shapes will form, reason will appear, but the unknown, the endless darkness will always remain, embrace it, stop trying to be a creator of beauty, instead become an explorer of beauty, a collector of art skills.
The problem for me has never been a lack of inspiration or lack of ideas. I have so many ideas, it's driving me nuts. I can't imagine ever suffering from artist's block. My problem was a lack of skill to execute the ideas properly and do them justice. I think that's why I stopped drawing half a lifetime ago. A few years ago I picked it up again and now I can't stop. Now I have seemingly endless patience (or stubbornness?) and WILL NOT give up on a piece until it's the very best that my still limited capabilities will allow. I've even experienced a commission, some sales and even having my art exhibited. It's challenging and frustrating and I sometimes wonder why I put myself through it. There have been times I've wanted to violently destroy every brush, pencil and canvas I own, had it not been for the pure joy the art creation process awards me. I love it and I hate it like nothing else on earth.
The mantra I always tell myself on when I feel really restless on growth. Is you need patience and constant conscious practice. Though I can be very impatient still, but with time and awareness I am sure I can work through that. Very informative video, thank you for the advice.
For the past few years I've been taking art much more serious, and recently i've been very frustrated when I draw because I want things to come quickly and I expect good drawings to be produced without trying. Im starting to realize that such a big part of art is patience and repetitive practice, taking your time to make it just right. When i first started drawing i thought that i was a great "artist" because my imagination is vast so i can easily draw and i always rushed it but now im gwtting deeper into this "art" i felt ashamed amd down for months and wasted those times but when i started drawing again i realized that i was a fool for getting ahead of myself but at the same time i am slowly gaining more and more patience at my drawings... I have been experiencing a 2-3 year art block, went from drawing constantly for 17!years to not drawing at all. The way I became patient over the years was understanding that time is fluent, it goes by fast and the project will be done as long as its continued to be worked on.

I’d argue that meditation is a great way to excercise becoming more patient with yourself and more at ease with your mind. Meditation literally is sitting down and doing nothing for 5minutes to an hour depending on what your going for. Just yesterday I was anxious and couldn’t concentrate while drawing so I did 10min of meditation and I was immediately better and could concentrate again

I was expecting to hear the usual, "you need to draw 5 minutes every day" and "the tools don't matter" bs. Needless to say, this video earned you a like and an additional subscriber.
God I get so depressed watching digital work. It'd take me weeks of sketching and thumbnails and figuring out mixes before I even tried to paint this. Then that would take a few weeks. Hard to embrace patience when I watch you smash this out.
There's a way to practice... an exercice that bring patience and many others good things for us (not only for u but it changes the way you interact and percive others too)... It is meditation ! but first you must undertand and know what is meditation, because the mainstream ideas about it are wrong... and the change didn't come in one day... but actually in 10, if you do it well you may see some results... I've been practicing for one year and I see the difference when I do it the good way (you can feel it) with periodes that I didn't do it or in the bad way... the key to good meditation (and all it's benefits) is awarness... you train that and your ability to focus :)
If you have passion for something you will be surprised how fast time goes by while doing it. If you dont have passion for it patience is the key but beware its not easy and with out cosistancy and determination you will be burnung your energy for nothing.

bro i hate patience tbh. sometimes i have some epic music in the bg and I'm just agressively scribbling poses just to get it out of my system. but ye you cant have have tempo without having control. You cant be a good dancer if you don't know how to move; you cant improvise and experiment without knowing your body and what it can do, your 'moves' that you can confidently weave into one another during an improvisation session depends on many things, but mostly your competence at the most basic of movements and your exposure of different styles of moving and trainings. source: me growing up and seeing my mother growing as a dancer, teacher and physical artist through decades..

When I see people that get distracted with the phone or some other activities and call it procrastination. Yeah, they definitely need to invest some hours sitting down. I get that. But some other people are passing through a severe calvary. Literally excruciating. I wonder if it is something people are meant just to go through or they actually can jump over it.
Dysgraphia is have poor handwriting which i have (Tho not as awfull when i was a kid) but my hand writing is still not as good as others i see in my life despite writing being part of a day to day thing, does that mean anything for drawing or its just non factor?

That’s Layer Factory! It’s a plug in you can find it on Gumroad. I don’t use it much for these types of personal works but I use it constantly when handling giant files for work.

To me creepy art is about fear. Artist who confront fear or the "dark unknown" are more likely to draw creepy stuff I think because of the pain and suffering they go through mentally and spiritually. People who create beautiful artwork I think focus more on the material world, although beauty can represent spiritual enlightenment and hope.

I patiently hunt for tools/software/methods to acquire instant gratification.
I once had to paint a picture 4 times to be happy about it. Pations is the most importand thing.

Why do people who draw creepy stuff on youtube give the most inspiring speeches on art growth
