I was a mouth breather due to having a blocked noise from endless colds. It took me a few months to learn to breathe through my nose when sleeping. Essentially it was perseverance at breathing through the nose even when it was blocked. I found that within a few minutes the nose would clear and then I could breathe through it. I believe that improved tongue posture is going to benefit me.
Brother I had the same issue, I was a very mouth breather as I had severe cough all the day.... Later when my milk teeth begun to fallen I started to get my batch of teeth. New teeth came very crooked especially the front two teeth which gives me rabbit look... Hope mewing will help me..
@Ayy lmao Not how it works, those of us cursed with perpetually blocked noses know. You can blow all you like but you'll never clear it enough to breathe through
My son was born with several medical conditions. Among them was retrognathia of the lower jaw. He was treated since toddlerhood at a hospital university clinic for crowded teeth. Over the years, their plan of action consisted of pulling several teeth in preparation of bracing. I continually asked if pulling all these teeth would change his facial profile for the worse. I additionally asked if his lower jaw would get smaller. They said he needed to have them pulled. 2 of the teeth that they pulled were canines that had drifted to the front of his chin. Those teeth could’ve been saved by gradually training them while he was young back to where they should’ve grown in….. When my son was 20, they wanted to pull 4 more teeth….. My son had severe sleep apnea and nobody was concerned, so I went a different route. I called a dentist/orthodontist that specialized in treating patients with airway blockages that cause sleep apnea. He started treatment by giving my son a 3D cone scan. After fighting with the dental clinic to change their care plan, they refused to treat him anymore. I was free to see this specialized dentist/orthodontist, who spent nearly 4 years reopening spaces where implants could be installed. During this time, he also went to an ENT for myofacial therapy to help his mild Cerebral Palsy. Fast forward….My son’s upper and lower jaw was expanded, giving him more space for his tongue to properly place. He wears retainers now to keep those spaces open. He does not have sleep apnea anymore and his facial profile is corrected. Tongue placement is important…. So is having a jaw large enough for the tongue to rest and the jaw itself to trained forward.
Been 2 years since I've seen this. Been trying to consistently use my toungue to better my breathing and stuff. I think it works, and it's really useful for people who breathe through their mouths due to allergies and stuff.
If you don't feel like watching a 15 minute video, basically just make sure you breathe through your nose, not your mouth, and make sure your tongue rests on the roof of your mouth.
And chew on both sides of your mouth, they don't mention this in the video. I've been chewing only on the right side of my mouth for as long as I can remember, now I'm 19, and the right side of my face has a stronger more defined jawline as well as cheek bones as opposed to my left side
I've been holding my tongue that way habitually my whole life. More then one girl has told me my jaw looks like it was carved by angels. Currently alone in my basement playing video games every day.
I recently had tongue cancer this video explains why I am having issues swallowing and my facial change. Thank you in a few minutes I understand now more than the doctors whom have been treating me thank you again for this video.
I saw a vid when I was around 14, more like an extert of a series of interviews about plastic cirurgies, and they talked about the case in the begining, of one needing to breathe with one's mouth, and that to fight tis there was a right position to keep the jaw in line, with the top of your bottom teeth touching straight behind the upper teeth, talking of how that was also a technique to teach models how to have a better face on their pictures, and from that moment I became paranoid, but I've got a better face now than 10 years later than I'd have if I never knew this information
I read a study about a small part of this a decade ago and found it fascinating but just thought it was a one off unstudied field and never looked more into it. This answered so many questions I've had for years and filled in a lot more gaps. Thank you!
When I was six years old, my front teeth were growing crooked. After reviewing my front teeth, the dentist suggested me to press my tong on the top, behind the teeth, so I used to do it always and this turned into a habit. Now, each time that I go to the dentist, they said that my teeth are surprisingly ordered. Even my wisdom teeth popped up without pain. I don't know how many years has this discovering, but I thanks so much that Mexican dentist that help me to avoid many problems with simple advice.
No one told me but my teeth aligned and I do come across as someone attractive. I do like to chew and crunch stuff. I wonder if all due to a healthy pattern developed when I was a baby and parents started giving solid foods early?
Better tongue posture it better than flying cars. No cap. I need jaw surgery that cost around maybe 50,000 for having a dropped tongue and now I have airway problems..
I've been mewing for 2 months and now I can shoot laser beams out of my chin. My jaw line is so sharp, I no longer need to invest in cutlery. Those who don't believe are blind fools.
Yes! It could potentially prevent the need for orthodontics, or at least less invasive orthodontics, TMJ, other bite issues, tooth decay, chin and jawline liposuction, buccal fat removal, etc and etc.
Who else has a terrible side face...I mean I look alright with my face but whenever I turn around, I look like an ancient ape. Edit:I have my first selfie video recording as the school final assignment. I have to recant that "alright with my front face" statement. Look like a car crash scene from all angles.
Interesting theory how the texture of food can affect teeth. When I was little I would chew on bones and even eat them💀 I’m not a picky eater and I have straight teeth (no ingrown ones or even crooked, heck even my wisdom teeth grew fine). This, compared to my older sister who doesn’t eat some foods and doesn’t chew on bones (lol) her teeth are crowded. My tongue posture is resting on the bottom, however in the past year I’ve discovered mewing and try to make it habitual. I don’t suffer from blocked noses often so my jawline is pretty aight, I just need to loose body fat ☠️
highly reccomend fasting for losing fat, CICO is ofc valid; just less effective and more loose skin to do a cutting phase, i reckon you build less muscle too. 112-120ish kg down to 88kg (188cm, muscular), id fast for a week and then weightlift and walk or run for a week eating properly. no noticeable loose skin highly reccomend doing this, i dont fast anymore, i did this on off weekly fasting thing from april to july, got down to 85kg and been eating at maintenance/slightly above calorie wise ever since.
I had eaten some bones too when I was younger and my teeth are naturally completely straight and my sister never chewed on bones and did need braces. Keep on chewing bones!
This so wild....I’m 43 and I’ve been thinking about this since I was a kid. I never told anyone about these thoughts but I used to hold my cheeks jaw and tongue in such a way that i thought it made me more attractive and over time it was like my face just started taking that shape. I thought I was crazy and it was just coincidence.
Really weird but my twin and I, while we were identical growing up, look really different now. My sister used to keep her tongue rolled towards the roof of her mouth in a resting position and would talk about how it comforted her. It was weird but now when I think about it her nose is more upturned, she has prominent cheekbones and a strong jawline. My face is a little more droopy and my nose is noticeably different. I do believe all of this is true
Ok guys, so I started putting my tongue up for when this video came out one and a half year ago and honnestly, I did got some results ! Sure it's not a big difference but my cheeks became a little wider and little bumps appeared on the side of my skull just under my eyes. Now I put my tongue up without even noticing it and I also catch myself doing it during sleep, it became natural. I was 19 back then and I turned 21 last week, I used to have a thin face with a pointy chin but now you can say it's more squarish than anything else. I'll keep doing this and do another report in 1 or 2 years if I'm.still alive. Don't lose hope, we all gonna glow up for sure ! 👋 (Sorry for my english, I'm French)
Congratulations on your progress! Did you use any devices or got to see a dentist? Because i imagine it to be very difficult to put your tongue up for 8 hours straight without any tools...
@@TAPKIRE happened the same for me, got the mewing video recommended out of nowhere and decided to start doing it. I was 21 now im 23 and the jawline is wider and my underbite is far better. The latter you star doing it the more it will take for the changes to show up, as the facial bone structure gets harder and harder. But it still changes. Before 20 years changes are noticeable from 6 months to a year. From 20 to 25, in 2 to 5 years. And from 25 upwards it think it was 5 to 10 years. So tge sooner you start, the better
the tongue position thing is actually something ive always done for a long time just when having my picture taken to reduce the appearance of double-chin or droopy skin around the chin and jawline... just to pronounce everything but i didnt know you coud actually make long term effects and keep it that way if you are able to keep that posture long term lol thats awesome.
Train ur body to do this when its stressed, most people hold tension in muscles while they are. If you can train your body to do this when stressed, you can turn a negative into a positive!
*Quickly freezes tongue to see where I naturally hold my tongue and teeth* *Feels tongue pressed tightly against the roof of my mouth and my teeth pressed lightly together* *Looks in mirror* *Is still ugly*
Daylightbright I doubt you’re ugly. You have to think, every single individual has a different perception. Depending on your perception, the way you view things is different. The way we think correlated with how we can see the world. An imagine has to process through our brain before we see it. Therefore, you thinking you’re ugly is due to your own perception. There’s others out there who think you’re breathtaking, magnificent, beautiful.
Diego Ruizio Having your tongue pressing forward against the roof of your mouth, additionally, means the base of your tongue will less likely be blocking your throat, allowing freer breathing.
It’s not supposed to be a hard press. You create a bit of a vacuum without applying pressure. Making sure the back of the tongue is raised is important, which will probably require more of a contraction to achieve than the front of the tongue.
Most of his points are anecdotal and circumstantial. The last point about the monkeys is misleading as well, as he is presenting as though the change happen from them not exerting force to their mouth roof, but really it's much much more likely their dental health changes due to mouth saliva drying out, which among other things protect the teeth and assist in mouth function.
@@tuborgcarlsberg3208 Lack of saliva causes the teeth to have more dental caries. Not the crookedness. That has to be caused by the actual way the bones grow.
So basically: you can make the maxilla come forward and widen your dental arch to look more attractive. To do this, keep the mouth closed with teeth lightly touching, breathing through the nose, with the tongue pushing against the palate and the upper teeth for at least 6-8 hours a day. And then something about orthotropics. Got it.
@@dondoken1353 Hey, some people don't keep their tongue properly and ruin their face and it depends on their personality. I don't have any links but this is the true fact.
@@cutiemeowie8352 You just specified and said "for some people" so I was curious. I guess the way you do mewing should depend on the facial structure you already have and that's the reason why you can the opposite results of what you hoped to achieve because what worked for one might not work for others. Probably something like that.
Anyone tryhard pressing their tongue, got tired, then relaxed... then realized that was your natural position in the first place? Can't get a better face, feelsbadman :(
Don't worry about pain or tiredness bro, the tongue is the one muscle that never gets damage via continuous pressure since it needs to push strongly 24/7. If you feel pain/tiredness in your tongue feel free to ignore that feeling since it's designed to do so regardless. The biggest thing holding people back from attractive features is fear of that uncomfortable muscle feeling, but it's actually something that should be there when learning this. After just two weeks worth of 24/7 extreme tongue pressure, the extent of it has begun to lessen and so the act of straining against my palate has become my neutral state. In fact my mouth feels pleasant whenever i push hard with my tongue now. I urge you to try your best and push as hard as you can possibly can, at least for a month before writing this off.
@Kuba Marcin Honestly, the best thing I've found is taping my mouth shut at night (so long as my nose isn't blocked and I'm able to breathe though there safely). With my lips taped shut my tongue figures out that it should be on the roof of my mouth instead. I also found that this helps me remember to keep my mouth shut while I'm sitting at my computer desk for example.
When i was 8 i realized that i had a weird over bite so i started extending my jaw so my teeth could aline where my tounge was symmetrical By 15 my facial skeleton had fixed and had a really fixed/ nicer jawbone Never realized i dodged a bullet make sure not to align your front teeth, to an unnatural position make sure you're doing it right A small overbite is natural and okay, just adjust ur tounge not your teeth REMEMBER POSTURE IS BIG
Darth Dogoz for me i look odd if i do that! it may be because i’m young and wasian so my teeth are more likely to be...shorter??? ??? idk what the fucj am i even talking about
Guys, there's a quick fix. You start breathing with your nose only and never breathe with your mouth. You'll realize that your tongue automatically rests on the soft palate. Also, breathing with your nose ensures that the air going into your lungs is filtered, so in turn better quality oxygen runs in your blood and you feel more energetic.
I am used to breath with my nose and exhale with my mouth because when you are making exercise is easier to keep stamina like that so i started to do it as a daily basis for muscle memory 4 years ago, can it affect my jaw positioning?
I'm a 74 year old lady in central Portugal watching this great information, too late for me perhaps! But the quality of the comments as the develop have given me the best laugh I've had in ages! There's a dispute on whether you need to keep your teeth together while mewing, but YOU DON'T NEED TO. I've always kept my tongue on the roof of my mouth because it's more comfortable for me, after hearing about mewing I tried also keeping my teeth together for about a year and it made my face objectivly less attractive. It shortened my face and made my jaw look softer. Going back to tongue only mewing and my face is starting to look better again
Now I’ve come up with a question that’s got me thinking: how do languages affect this? Do certain languages give you a more attractive jawline? What about the inverse? Are there languages that deter your facial structure because of you have to use your tongue and jaw to speak words in that language? Very interesting food for thought.
@@freeeggs3811 a Slav with a potato face here😓🙋🏼. Even in my lowest weight I din't have a nice jaw line. I think it may be genetics. African people usually have awesome jawlines.
Im fairly happy with my jawline etc, and I noticed that my mouth is almost always closed because i mainly use my nose to breath. Teeth and jaw are almost always softly pressed together, depending on my mood. My tongue, for as long as I can remember, has always rested in the top of my mouth. Most of my family members that don't share this habit, do not have the same looks when it comes down to facial structure. I do however experience headaches after long periods of applying force with my jaws and tongue. As a kid I always had a very round and fluffy face, but I don't really think that acts like proof. Can still recommend this to anybody. I never did this to actively change my face structure because it was just a habit that people around me always told me, breathe through your nose, close your mouth etc etc. I can't say that my genetics didn't play a part in this, but I'd like to believe that it's mainly genetics and this habit. Edit: Been think about this a lot lately and noticed that because of corona slacking and moving out of my parents house, I stopped paying as much attention to the things above and I noticed my face getting rounder and less masculine. Might be because of the bulking.. But I'm picking this habit up again. Funny how this video came around when I needed it.
I read about this stuff back in 2012, the mouth breathing part, I was 16 or 17 and thought it was too late for me but still tried it anyways, closed my mouth and fixed my tongue resting posture. This year with the 10 year challenge and all that I noticed how greatly my face has changed, my eyes straightened, my chin is not as recessed, my nose is noticeably less droppy. This video made me realise how fortunate it was to fix a few things some years back.
I broke my nose for the first time at 10, inhibiting my nasal airways and leading me to mouth breathe for 11 years, until I had a full reconstruction. I definitely had to relearn breathing through my nose and create that habit.

I got that I'm not ugly, my parents just should have told me "shut your mouth, lest you catch flies" more often.
Can someone lead me to some research papers for a smaller nose for that education?
This actually works cause I was super ugly as a kid but I just have a habit of keeping my tongue in a certain posture I grew up with that habit and I feel so pretty now :,)
I was a mouth breather due to having a blocked noise from endless colds. It took me a few months to learn to breathe through my nose when sleeping. Essentially it was perseverance at breathing through the nose even when it was blocked. I found that within a few minutes the nose would clear and then I could breathe through it. I believe that improved tongue posture is going to benefit me.
You and me have the same issue.. I’m just learning about this at 30, I’m applying this ASAP!
Btw colds and allergies are tough smh.
Brother I had the same issue, I was a very mouth breather as I had severe cough all the day.... Later when my milk teeth begun to fallen I started to get my batch of teeth. New teeth came very crooked especially the front two teeth which gives me rabbit look...

I'm glad there are people who take the time to study things like this.
TheEgg185 you should thank your dentist then😊 that's why they spend 5 - 8 years of their lives studying

Who else started putting force against the roof of their mouth for half of the video...

Lmao
You're supposed to apply pressure, and also don't forget to close your mouth to the point that your teeth touch eachother
Beauty is pain 😉
@Kuba Marcin Honestly, the best thing I've found is taping my mouth shut at night (so long as my nose isn't blocked and I'm able to breathe though there safely). With my lips taped shut my tongue figures out that it should be on the roof of my mouth instead.
Nah I can’t breathe like physically can’t when I rest it on my soft platelet, and plus my toung naturally goes directly behind my upper teeth.

Holy shit I saw a video about mouth breathing causing this and I didn't believe it at first, but this video convinced me with a lot of citation.

I mouth breath due to sinus problems and my chin has recessed significantly over the last decade, but I never knew about this

Hey. Been doing this since November of 2020. It does work. My jawline is more prominent now. The most important thing is consistency.
Who's watching while pressing your tongue on the roof of your mouth as hard as you can 😂
Me
Me lmao
you have to press hard?

Now I’ve come up with a question that’s got me thinking: how do languages affect this? Do certain languages give you a more attractive jawline? What about the inverse? Are there languages that deter your facial structure because of you have to use your tongue and jaw to speak words in that language?
Very interesting food for thought.
Interesting hypothesis.
I think Slavic languages will give the best jawline because Slavs have the best jawline in my opinion.
@@freeeggs3811 That could just be genetics
@@justinw5476 Yes maybe that too.
@@freeeggs3811 a Slav with a potato face here😓🙋🏼. Even in my lowest weight I din't have a nice jaw line. I think it may be genetics. African people usually have awesome jawlines.

austipasti2015 please don’t say that sentence to me ever again
OneAndOnly Fiqri I agree how entire structure as an organism is alive and constantly changing and adapting to its environment and forces
I'm in 33...why did I just find out about this...I do the Japanese/Korean face massages. But, it only makes my skin softer and more bright.
I'm 17, guess I'll start right now

I meditate whilst breathing through my nose
I broke my nose for the first time at 10, inhibiting my nasal airways and leading me to mouth breathe for 11 years, until I had a full reconstruction.
I definitely had to relearn breathing through my nose and create that habit.
