Very delicate. I perfer play passively accross my crease but big power forwards can be tough to stick with. I find myself using this on the most powerful of power low drives when I think the player coming in is going too fast or is too low to adjust once I push to cut him off

This play was really scary to watch at the time. very unorthodox, very chaotic scramble, but the puck stayed out.

@@221522 yeah it can be a tactic that upsets skaters sometimes becuase of the contact, but it only works if a skater is aggressively cutting to your paint. So I kinda feel if you don’t want this type of contact you need to be careful about driving the net hard and low. If the only option you give me is to stop the puck this way then i have to do it as my teams goalie. Never fun to have to tank a driving player to stop a puck tho. Especially since you’re the one with your head at knee level and your neck in a dangerous position on those types of plays.

@Jbeen3596 totally, I've made plays like this, but never really intentionally, more of just an instinct in the moment to do something to stop the guy from beating me across the crease.
A little different situations, but In the past I've had a bit of a reputation for getting a bit chippy with guys infringing on my crease. I've really tried to get that out of my game. I've realized if guys know it bugs you, they'll do it more to try to get you off your game... And unfortunately it works.
Cutting off the path of the puck and in the process getting a piece of a guy is one thing, chopping a guy in the ankle when he's standing in the crease is another.
