    1. I think the movie and especially the speech of the figure Alex (played by Taylor) made it very clear that one's private life should be of no interest to the public.
    2. I wish both of the main actors a joyful private life. Of course, if they are gay or bi, they can come out publicly if they want to make queer youth feel less alone and giving them role models to look up to. But like it was said in the movie, it should be every queer person's own decision whether and when to come out.
    3. To me this movie is outstanding especially because of the non-stereotypical (!) portrayal of two gay men falling in love with each other. There are not much comedies surrounding a gay couple without nasty/exaggerated gay stereotypes that simply don't represent the majority of real life gay couples. Therefore this movie succeeds in representing how most real life gay couples really are. And that's great!

I share your views on actors about their private lifes. It is PRIVATE - that doesn't mean there are not actors who love to show their private lives. Definitely not so about Taylor. He is very private about his private life, about his family, about his friends, and about his love. And that is his decision and we all have to respect it. Especially the press has to respect it, and all the paparazzi have do too!

Neither of the lead actors said anything about their sexuality. And if Taylor is married to a man it’s is nothing but his own business if he shares it openly or not. I feel sorry though - in case it’s true - that he has to care about after all . The amazing speech in the movie about coming out or not should be the Guideline for everyone. And if he really is in a 10 years relationship with a man with 4 years married than I’m the happiest human and wish him endless joy and happiness!! Oh... I wish him that in any case of course 😍

"G" is one busy actor. He barely finishes one movie when he flies off to star in another. I am amazed at this, because many times (as in RW&RB) "G" will have to act in a scene that is out of context with the timeline of the movie script. He has to gin up the skill to step into a scene that we movie goers don't see until mid-movie, and he has to act and make all the emotion (or lack thereof) seem natural. Bravo to all actors for their ability to do this and make us believe that the scene is as easy as turning the page of a novel.
I love RW&RB. I have watched it 15 times now. I watch it everytime I need a break from the news or some heavy drama film. I do it, because every time I begin to watch it, it makes me smile. Nicholas' and Taylor's acting is genuinely special and I love the entire supporting cast.

Just my own opinion after watching many interviews of the main, leading actors (Nick and Zac) and the movie itself of course: The actors are always asked to sort of "live the roles in real life", meaning that they simply have the duty in promotion of the movie to act as if they are really best friends and actually so close to each other, so much so, that people start thinking how they probably did sleep or are sleeping with each other in real life.
Second thing, the rumors will spread about their sexuality and it is also very common as it will definitely contribute to movie becoming bigger and more popular.
Last but not least, we will not know many real facts from their lives regarding dating, especially now as the campaign for the movie is world wide - it has to be kept secret!
Personally, I also think that in order to accept such roles actors need to at least be bisexual, even though they never have to show it to the public in real life, because as much as I would love to see actors like Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Mark Whalberg etc., in gay roles, it will never happen for obvious reasons - these guys are clearly pure heterosexual men - period!

but exactly that makes a good actor, to be whatever (gay, asexual, pansexual ...) and play the complete opposite without being at least bisexual. Look at Hugh Grant who started his career in "Maurice" playing a closeted homosexual. Or gay actors who portray to be straight. And I never have guessed Rock Hudson was gay. Ok, that was another time. But as much as I wish and would looove that especially these two here had something lovingly going on, as much I guess this is unfortunately only wishful thinking. They simply fit. I would start a party if once, this film is established, they would come out as bi or together. See how long it took Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattison to show their relationship or Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey to admit they nearly hate each other. None of their films would have worked. So, I cross my fingers that these sweethearts are at least a bit of that: sweethearts.

In RW&RB, I always felt Nick and Taylor were somehow friends who were able to throw themselves into their roles because the knew they were acting and each had the respect and confidence of the other. There was an easy rom-com banter about it all.

Interesting point of view with quite a few inaccuracies, but as you say, it is your humble opinion, so to speak
For someone who only has begun to read the book after seeing the movie many times, I have to say the movie was complete in end of itself
Seeing the characters and some that were not in the movie that create narrative and some other detail that appears to be 3/4 of a book if that’s true and no one so far in this thread has said otherwise so perhaps when I finish the book will agree about it being a chopped up version, but perhaps it’s a “dumb dumb version for not stepping on the toes of the far right”
Taylor is my best friend and I talk to him daily and I am intrigued because he will not divert anything about red white and royal blue2
I’ve only seen on other threads that it is supposed to have Alex’s sister and also Joey from the kissing Booth series. I believe may be in this movie but I might be confusing two things and I’d be curious if that is his sister cause their chemistry is great in their personal life.
And as of that, everyone should, this is in my humble opinion LOL

Seen it twice - but, read the book 6/7 times - so TBH the film is funny & sweet, but, though Galitzine is well cast as Henry, brings a youthful side to the character; Zakhar Perez is too old, and looks it; Ulma Therman looks amazing ,but, couldn't have,as she played her have had a baby as a teen mom and keeping married to Alex' s father kinda defeats, her solo determination as does the political chicanery with Alex's mentor was another huge hole in the plot.
The cutting of characters vital to the books plot & craming it into a 2 hour film means we get almost no real character development, the loss of June is catastrophic as is reducing Henry's sister to a card bord cutout is a sin, she's a rebel who plays guitar in a band. Henry also - in the book - uses his fathers movie star money to fund his lifestyle, which in this day & age was a lost opportunity to justify his laudable behaviour.
Stephen Fry is one of the UK's stately homosexuality, which defeats the point of an out of touch monarch, battling her daughter ;who was completely cut, therefore the denouement where she stands up for her son& daughter, by effectively blackmailing the Old Queen, who is completely out of touch has also gone.
Any positive ,even light RomCom representation is great.
But if only they'd made a mini series and stuck to the source material, instead of a bunch of egotistical writers - whom one wonders have ever met a gay man - and cast anyone of thousands of beautiful young half Latino men instead of Taylor ,who in some scenes looks exhausted and in his late 30s,whereas Nicholas looks much younger than his real age of 28. Also while I'm being g picky Alex is shorter than Henry in the books.
Rachel Hilson is stunningly beautiful and shines bright in the few scenes she gets just like Malcom Atobrah as Percy,is woefully under used and again totally undeveloped best friend. The writers reducing his deep friendship with Henry is tangential & we know nothing of their charity work for the LGBTQ+++ Community, instigated by Henry.
So though I enjoyed a Gay RomCom it wasn't the film of the much loved book.

Okay, so we watched the movie last night. It was... fine. For what it was. If you're never read the book, and you love LGBTQ+ content? This is your summer movie and I hope you enjoy it.
If you have read the book? And are a huge fan? Especially as avidly as I am? And you absolutely love the story, the settings, all of the characters ( including their depth and development,) and the plot twists? You should definitely be prepared for this absolute butchery. Spoilers below, for bibliophiles.
First off how do you adapt a book and completely eliminate one of the corner stone characters? June Catalina Clairmont-Diaz (AKA - Bug), the main character's freaking sister is no where in the movie. Sure she's not THEE main character but she is pivotal to the telling of Alex's story. And her own story gives insight into why the Clairmont-Diaz children are the way they are.
Beatrice is supposed to be a five step recovering cocaine addict and is a lover of modern music as well. More closely resembling 1980's Billy Idol playing God Save The Queen on an electric guitar than a British Tory Barbie.
We've had a 3 times divorced person as president in real life! Why is it they eliminated that element? It makes no sense. Why wouldn't they keep that detail in the movie? For what reason was that removed?
Alex is supposed to be a 21 year old "boy genius" with a letter jacket for both LaCrosse and Debate from High-school! A triple major student at the schools of Sociology, Political Science and US History at Georgetown University, not an unemployed 34 year old looking for direction in his life while crashing out in the Whitehouse during his mommy's presidency.
What happened to the intrige? The panash? The whit? The painstaking humanity of the characters? Or any shred of an attempt at character development at all? The producers, Amazon Films, the editors and the set designers are completely to blame for this travisty. It was literally a first year film student's term final with a semi-decent budget.
This was, in my not so humble opinion, a cut and paste job made solely to shut up the fans of a New York Times Best Seller edited to not insult the far right political class of the US or the UK. They ripped out three quarters of this book, changed the entire plot line and called it a movie based on the book.
The Prince and Me 2, chopped up on TNT with commercials, is better time, money, neurons and effort spent than this pile of shite. Disappointed doesn't even come close to the emotions this "film" invokes.

I couldn't disagree more. Alex is in law school in the movie and not "34 and unemployed." President Trump has been divorced only 2 times, not 3, making your entire Comment sus. I'm glad they kept President Claremont married to her original husband in the movie; in the book I found both her ex-husband and current husband extremely annoying. I'm glad they eliminated June and transferred her "qualities" to Nora. June was annoying in the book and Nora is a far more interesting character.
I could go on and on why the movie is superior to the book. But foremost among these is that the book is a true YA (Young Adult) novel with seriously dumbed-down language and excessive cursing to appeal to a teen audience. Even the sex scenes were bizarrely written. Thank God they hired an actual ADULT to write the movie script and bring the caliber of the language up a notch...or ten.
