I'm a scarf lover from way back and had over 100 scarves at last count. I don't really feel it's really me until I put one on. Thanks for all the great tips.
I love your presentation. Much work and planning, but a total blessing to the rest of us! Thank you, Friend.
Best scarf video on RUclips! I thought I had seen it all, but these knots are terrific and many are new to me. We are of a similar vintage (I’m a few years older), the same colouring, and a similar physical type that we want to play against. In my case, I can easily look more conservative than I am, and I’m not even a little bit conservative, so I have to add edge as well as casual/natural without descending into unstructured untidiness. It’s a fine balance and you are one of the few fashion influencers who helps me strike it. I’m sure you also help women with other styles as your insights are not type/style specific, but rather about shape, colour, and line… things that hold true no matter your style. And thanks for these terrific knots!
Lovely ways to wear a scarf they can pull a look together and make outfits look classier.
Love your style! I have scarves from 1972 -forward. Never run out of fashion ideas to wear them. Thank you for the beautiful update. Best wishes
Fun and practical ideas. I adore scarves and have too many I think. LOL 😁
Never enough. 😂. Luv scarves.
Excellent!! I love scarves - but I'm hopeless at tying them, and keeping them in place. This video is inspirational - and just the sort of looks I like.
Your content and manner are superb. Many thanks.
I am all looped up and platted out! I quite enjoyed that! Now I know how to make the most of my scarves.👍🥰❤️
i will go through my scarves and try to find one for each of these ways. gonna be fun. thank you!
Thank you. I love scarves and mostly use them for warmth but I like the idea of using them as an accessory to brighten up an outfit
Incredible tips !!! I have a lot of scarves and had no idea you could arrange them in so many ways . Thank you so much !!! ❤
Lovely video! Thank you for the instructions. When my great-gran passed, no one wanted her 1920s and 1930s silk scarves (due to tiny pin sized holes). I loved them for their bright, vivid colors. So I took them and have added to my hoard ever since. A vintage fashion shopkeeper taught me how to use the scarf in lieu of a blouse (knowing you could NOT remove your jacket! ha) by tucking part under the lapel of the jacket, under the collar and flute the whole thing down your front like a blouse. Hollywood sticky tape held it in place inside the jacket. I felt so classy in all of my teenage-ness.
Thank you for sharing your story .
This is a great reference video!
What an interesting video, thank you. I’m going to practice a few of those. 😊
I love scarves, and wear them often,so thanks for doing this video.I find it hides my neck wrinkles 😊
I agree. Part of why I got started with scarves is due to excema on my neck from my teens onwards, which I wanted to hide. So no wool!! Now (aged 44) I have wrinkles as well.
Me too!
I'm afraid a scarf will draw attention to my double chin. Any advice?
I've had a beautiful silk scarf that was gifted to me ages ago and have only worn it once I think. It's similar in size to your last one. I followed your directions and IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thanks a bunch 🤩❤️🤗
I'm in love with the last two. Thank you.
Loved it thanks 😊
Years ago, Trinny and Susannah taught me how to where scarves. Menopause has kept me from wearing them for the last ten years, however seeing your video, I’m going to try again. Thanks
Love this, thank you for tips!
Excellent video as usual. I love scarves & feel that they're a great way of bringing colours together in an outfit 😊
I totally agree!
I agree. I'm a scarf addict, I can't function without them. Most of mine are second hand or inherited from Mum and my grandmothers. It's definitely good to keep them, not declutter, because styles come back round.
Your hair looks great!😊
Thank you. It's filled out a lot since last year when i was on medication.
SO creative and lovely with almost endless options ! 😊Thank you!
Thanks so much! 😊
Thanks for all these ideas! The different shapes and sizes make this the best scarf “how to” I’ve seen!
Now that I have gone grey, I love more color at my neck. I especially love traveling with scarves..changes up an outfit. Thank you.
I love the final one : plait! Planning to try it
Fascinating, love your ideas. Also love the idea of being casual and yet dressed!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the plait at the end. I love scarves, but am one of those people who are not creative and need these videos to show me what to do so I can be brave enough to wear them!
Love some of these. I wear my scarves quite often in fall and winter. I actually have some linen and thin cotton scarves that I wear in the spring and summer. You did some cool ties but I no doubt will forget how to do them.
Effortlessly elegant.
Perfect timing! I listen while I get reading for work. I was planning to leave my scarf long-no wrapping at all. Then, I chose to warm up my neck a little and wear this the more modern way-it looked great!
Amazing, never known how people manage to look so neat. Thank you.
Your hair looks really good 😊
I have acrylic boxes with bins from The Container Store with little dividers that are good for holding scarves. They might still carry something similar.
I love my little silk scarves. They are wonderful colours on me, reef knot, and they just flow around my face.
Love your casual ideas!
Thank you!
Always looking for scarf know how. Thanks for linking !
Save this, share on your Facebook so as you have it in your library to refer to in the future.
Filed in my new accessories playlist! Thanks.
Thank you for this tutorial!! I love my scarves but have been floundering using them this season since infinity scarves are out of fashion. I need to pull out my rectangle and square ones and start using those.
Have always loved scarves and have a nice lineup in my scarf drawer. How they are worn can really bring an outfit to life.
Been following a blogger recently, The Vivienne Files, who builds seasonal capsule wardrobes from a starter item like a stunning scarf. So... rather than a scarf being something that is added to an outfit, it is the inspiration for an outfit/seasonal wardrobe. Have been having a wee play in my wardrobe, choosing a scarf then garments in colours from that scarf to create an outfit. It's fun way of getting dressed and I'm loving it, have discovered more outfit combinations (in my best colours) than I ever thought. My new hobby! Thank you for the tying demos and current ways of wearing old favourites.
Vivienne Files is a fun site! I have been saving screenshots for years, because she does capsule and travel wardrobes in color combinations that I don't see very often. For example, she did a gray+rust travel wardrobe back about 2011 that I've never seen anywhere else.
I had a huge silk scarf decades ago that I tied a small knot in the middle of from the wrong side and simply turned it around to the right side and tied the top side ends around the back of my neck. It worked perfectly underneath a double breasted coat and kept me warm. Unfortunately, I donated all of my scarves some time ago and I really wish I’d kept that one, because I’ve never found such a beautiful huge silk scarf in my fall colors since!
Some great ideas!
Thank you. I love this video. Scarves are an essential for me but I didn't know all these styles 🙂 The petite idea was particularly useful.
I started using them in my teens to disguise excema on my throat area (so no wool or anything scratchy!) So I do wear velvet scarves with a clip if I need to stay warm, which I'm sure isn't in fashion, but I get compliments, probably because of the colours.
I'm 44 and scarves are the only thing I own in silly numbers 🤭 almost all second hand or inherited, so some of them have good memories attached too.
My favorite scarf is a Ralph Lauren velvet paisley one. I've never felt like it was out of style.
I love wearing scarves from my momma. Reminds me of her and keeps her close.
The red silky neck scarf really lifted your colour and the mint jumper with grey scarf too 😍
I love silk scarves - they're my jewellery. A small oblong is favourite, so it will go around my neck twice, with a knot at the side or the back. Adds a pop of colour, covers a bare neck or a deep neckline, and keeps me comfortably warm in the cold weather. I only stop wearing them in the heat of summer days.
I wear scarves most of the time, just not in summer. I generally wear it up around my neck to hide my aging neck or a bit lower to distract from my small chest. I love scarves! lol
Great suggestions. Thank you.
I love the combination of floral and stripes. Also a black and white pattern with colors
I love stripes an have a closet full of striped tees. Floral scarves are a great tip.
I absolutely abhor the short neck scarf, the double scarfing too. Don’t think I could do one now, if I were to wear one, I’d do the long flowing ones, so elegant.
Thanks: lots of simple and effective ideas
Love your videos. So informative!
Glad you like them!
I love scarves, always have. Thanks for these many options.
Brilliant ideas and I like your thoughts BEHIND each - why and when to try these various looks and how to keep them current and fresh. I LOVE scarves for adding color and pattern to solid separates but also prefer to keep a more casual, less prim look. As an artist, one tip I have for people who want to expand their use of color in outfits but are a bit afraid or unsure of how, is to use the color palettes in scarves to inspire your outfit. No need to be matchy-matchy but scarf designs can inspire color combinations you may not have thought of. For instance, I bought some lavender wide wale corduroy flares and have been casting about for pieces to wear with them. A scarf I had inspired me to put a pale coral-y peach top with it. The scarf pulled the two together beautifully.
Great ideas
Fantastic
Thank you
Your good, enjoying your videos. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
Thank you for the great tips, dear. I was enthralled throughout watching this video.
I use scarves to create the 1/3 - 2/3 look. My legs are short and my torso is regular, and it’s very easy for me to look cut in half. Adding a scarf can change things up by winding the scarf around my neck to shorten the ends, creating a 1/3 proportion in relation to my body.
It's also handy for those of with a low bustline; a scarf takes up the space.
Great ideas. Thank you.
My many scarves decorate the mirror on my bureau more than they decorate me.😅
Hopefully you've got some ideas to decorate you now ☺️
@@Myover50fashionlife 😏
That’s definitely me too 😄
Same
Oh yeah…same here!
omgosh, such wonderful ideas.
I Love All these ideas ! I've been given Lots of beautiful scarves, and I also buy them regularly, but Never Know how to wear them, unless it's Cold weather, and I'm just wrapping up against the cold, but I'm going to try All these ! Thankyou ! 😊
I love your last one in particular, with a long chiffon type scarf I tie multiple knots in it randomly andwith it do variations of lots of your suggestions, it's quite boho and very casual :)
I don't wear scarves....too complicated ...but now I'm encouraged thanks to your video
First Time viewer from the state of Maryland. Very nice and useful presentation. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very timely. I have a large collection of scarves but was feeling very jaded with them all. Your video hit the nail on the head; a lot of them are too long for my size and lifestyle. I had resorted to chopping off the ends of some of them (all that hand hemming...) but shall put the scissors away now!
Very Informative!
Very glad it was helpful!
That was fun! Thank you for all your ideas. I prefer small square scarves, but I have a horde of large ones which I haven't worn in a long time. I think now I can with your help! Brava!
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
I really enjoy your video, we are going int winter right now in South America so this is good reminder to make an effort with my scarf now...greetings from Santiago de Chile
Great job😊
Thank you! 😊
Lovely scarf ideasxxx thank youxxx
You’re welcome 😊
Some good new ideas here!
Thank you so much!
Very helpful video. I have started wearing scarves now. (sixty one) My existing block colour clothing not going in the bin and I feel I should be more of a scarf lady now. It also helps with drafts, incase my neck gets stiff.
I love these ideas and thank you for teaching them. I will only remember two or three, but I already know two or three so my scarf arsenal at the ready.
Very helpful Anne Marie.
You’ve inspired me!
So stylish 🌟
Never been a scarf person (except for warmth) but really enjoyed that. I probably won't do the neck ones due to my double chin but was a good video
Bought a Scarf from Amazon but sent it back because it was too tight
Love loop scarf great
I keep buying them! But now i know some ways to wear them. :) thanks
I loved this video
I only wear scarves in winter for warmth, never a short scalf, I don't like the look of them at all! But I like some of your easy neat knots 👍✅️
Love the loop effects vreat
I'm thrilled to meet a fellow Annemarie!
Me too. 😀. Do you get fed uo with saying, all one word, no hyphen, no capital M 😀. I do
Scarves are the signature of timeless
elegance it distinguishes a woman from a lady.
Really? So wearing blue jeans and a puffer vest but adding a scarf is ladylike, yet wearing a dress and jewelry but no scarf is not ladylike? Hmm...
scarves are essential if you have hot flashes, because it is a layer you can quickly remove without getting out of your seat or flailing your arms around
I have also found them essential when going out to eat or attending a meeting and there's not much you can do when you find yourself sitting directly under an AC vent and it's hitting your neck
I live in a suburban area outside of Boston and women just dont wear silk scarves much at all. I don't work in an office but I don't see anyone wear them in stores or restaurants much. I think in the actual city they may be a bit more of a thing. I myself bought a nice silk scarf at a thrift store this summer and I've been playing around with it a bit. I've inherited silk scarves from my grandmother who of course wore them in her coat collar or on her head up until the 1970s, maybe '80s. But that was a 1950s-60s look. And the colors of her scarves are a bit bright for me. I mostly wear neutrals.
Start a new trend where you live then!😂
I agree with Diane; start a trend! When other women see how stylish you look, they'll imitate you.
Thanks for great tips, with very clear instructions.I love the small square scarves that were a popular accessory in the 1970s with business suits as well as for casual wear and saved my faves waiting for the trend to return. They are now coming out of mothballs! I also lived in Italy for several years where the central city heating system wasn’t turned on until late fall and was turned off in early spring. Scarves for warmth were a necessity, and I brought back 20+ beautiful pashminas when I returned to South Carolina, USA, where we have barely 2-3 weeks of very cold weather. Needless to say, I can’t use them. It’s time to pick a few faves and pass the rest on.
I have one scarf that I tie into a friendship knot and get many compliments on it.
As an orthodox Jew, I usually wear my scarves on my head! But sometimes, particularly in winter, I prefer a warm hat and a scarf around my neck. You've given me some great ideas!
I prefer a beautiful scarf to jewelry ... wear them just about everyday.
Loved this video!! I am going to try the last scarf maneuver as I have so many scarves in that shape☺️
The ones i showed using the beige scarf would work too .
Love this video - thank you for all the ideas! I will have to practice so I remember them. I wear relatively heavy scarves, for warmth. It's chilly and windy where I live, most of the time, and I always have to wear a scarf. I wrap them around a few times and tuck the ends in so I have a giant turtle neck around my neck. I have some nice thin scarfs I could wear with a nice dress.
Hi Anne Marie, I love the green, gold and black scarf you're wearing on the title screen of this video. Can you tell me where it's from or anything else about it? I have inherited one exactly the same from my aunt, but don't know anything about its origins. Thanks!
It was my mothers. Ill see if there's any labels that can help us
@@Myover50fashionlife thanks!
Hello. I love scarves. I am very short and tend to wear one plain color top and bottom. Usually black or navy. I wear a scarf to add a little coloutul interest to the outfit. I also have a large bust so a scarf that is hanging down in a strand detracts from this.
I wear my scarf folded into v then folded to form a long 4 to 5 inch band then I knot it into 4 or 5 loose knots and tie ends at the back. As a Necklace. Looks fab in summer over talk later good buddy shirt.
I'm in!
Thanks for doing a scarves video. ❤️
I've got so many of them .
Do the same looks good when your tall?
Or do you wear them a little longer ?
I think its about proportion so just avoid them hanging below the waist, unless its totally untied.
I've been wearing my scarfs that way looped and the old way like a cowl still like that .and hi Anne Marie hope your good and thanks
Me, too. I like interesting scarves, and the design shows better that way.
