I think your Grandma would be so joyfully honored that you use her classic chic way and better yet, explain it to us. I love accessorizing with fabric instead of jewelry because I have allergies with my crazy sensitive skin 🤩🤘🏼🤓♥️
Yea fabric just adds more yumminess I think!!
scarves definitely make the capsule go farther...gives a basic outfit another whole different look! and they pack easier than another item of clothing. loves this..thanks!
I've collected scarves since high school and have an insane number of them, always adding more. I've watched a lot of scarf styling videos (most do not speak to me) but you've made thse really usable and in line with my look. The older I get (I'm 73) and especially since covid, I find myself not wearing jewelry so much - but yeah, scarves. I have some spectacular ones I just drape around my neck and wear loose, no bow, and tuck under a blazer. For me it's a power look.
Oooo I like that idea. So simple yet impactful. Thank you!
Love my scarves over jewelry any day! I even wear them in hot summer(cotton ) especially in air conditioned restaurants. Thank you, Emily!
I have a bunch of scarves but have been self conscious about wearing them. Maybe it’s time to just go for it and make it a signature look. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, go for it and have fun with it!
Regal = An Ascot! My father n law rocked this ✨
Ahhhhh thank you!!! An Ascot!!!!
You help this Mimi (aka grandma) validate my edgy style. I refuse to function inside the box. 🤣
Yes love that!!
Whenever I travel I love to purchase scarfs! Italian fabrics, Paris styling, a Beatles scarf from Abbey Road in London! All look fabulous and help me remember wonderful trips! Scarves have been my signature for many years - I’m another one of your admirers in my early 70s.
Emily thank you! You helped me not only define my style but you've also helped me learn more about and add to it. The scarves and socks videos were especially helpful as I've never accessorized. I'm not a jewelry person so these little touches or "pops" as you say transform my looks. Please keep up the super content. I'm always excited to see a new video of yours. By the way, many fashion RUclipsrs have long hair. This was a reason I decided I could not look fashionable - I have hair the length and style of yours. You've seriously opened up a new world of fashion for me. Again, many thanks!
Yay! I so love to hear that! I’m glad the channel has helped you because that makes all the hard work worth it!!
I love scarfs , I have a tone. Never thought to use them with a T-shirt . Such a wonderful idea . Thank you
I love me some scarves. I’ve been collecting them for years. I started buying them as a teen in the 70’s and have kept my most cherished ones for decades.
Ooo I bet you have some good ones!
I've been collecting scarfs lately. I like using them as belts and small ones to tie on a purse.
I love scarfs, they give so easily a simple outfit some interesting. I like to wrap a scarf around my wrist and sometimes make a rose on a loop of the jeans.
Oh I love both of those! Thanks Rosi!
WOW, I have boxes of scarves, but thought they were "out". Going through them right now.
Never! It's all in how they're styled :-)
Thank you Emily, I’m getting into scarfs now- they’re practical and lots of fun. I enjoyed your video very much. I recently wore the cowboy - bandanna scarf to a western theme fund raiser. I ended up not tying it but used a pretty silver ring that secured the scarf beautifully. So the ends were longer and the ring added some sparkle.
Love the horse print scarf. More cowboy chic. Loved when you did the outfit with the cute cowboy t-shirt topped with the belted jacket. I've always loved that Ralph Lauren always does a nod to the American West in his collections. I'm going to try your "cowboy muffler" featured today.😊
Yay! Happy Styling!
I love scarves & have been collecting for 50+ years. Thanks for some great tips!
Believe the “men’ of the manor” type of folding the scarves is called ‘ cravate’, and yes, it is the ancestor to its modern incarnation. Loved the video and it is now in my inspiration file 👌😎❤
Oh that's great, thank you!!
love it! thanks!! so refreshing to watch scarf styling from an edgier perspective which is harder to find… and love your hair!
Thank you so much!!
My favorite is the orange and black scarf against the black tee. Stunning!
I’m trying to pack very minimalistic for a trip to Europe and this was very helpful! A scarf can easily change and/or elevate an outfit without having to pack new outfits!
Ive been looking for someone who could help me identify my style and thanks to youtube algorithms i found you. I have learned i am more edgy chic...thank you for the tips ❤❤
Hi Emily, yes I enjoyed the scarves segment. Thank you. ❤
Loved the reference and pop up of Mr. Darcy and Mr. Knightley! 😉 Thank you for this useful video; just what I needed to figure out my scarves.
I love me some Jane Austen :-)
As a 74 yr old, I am walking the thin line of being chic and looking ridiculous. I love your videos, and just put some gorgeous scarves from your list into my amazon cart. BTW, I love love love your hair!
I’m 70 and just found this channel and am getting some great tips but totally get what you are saying.
Caring about the way you present yourself to the world is never ridiculous......it's part of showing up for your own life daily 🤓❤️
Love it. Just the tips I was looking for. Definately looking for how to stle skinny scarves and even silk ties too
I have bought so many scarves in the last 2 years… this video was such a help! I keep getting stuck with the 90’s mom look! Lol
I have a geometric bandana I haven't worn in years. Made it partnof home decor and use larger scarves. Now you've got me wanting to go back and try cowboy chic! Thanks! Fun creative vid!
Yes, cowboy chic is my fav!
Great tips, thank you Emily 😊
Perfect timing, as I'm going through my scarf collection at the moment! Looks like I will be playing with scarves today - YAY!
Yay! Have fun styling!!
Love your style❤❤❤
You always have the best tips! ❤❤❤
Ahhh thank you!!
Those scarves look amazing. I love your sense of aesthetic. Very happy to discover you today! I love your short hairstyle, too! It looks super pretty!
Thank you for all the awesome tips; I am a fan of the scarf forever because of my long neck and it always look so chic and classy!
Sei stupenda con il foulard legato stretto al collo ❤❤❤👍
Mi piace molto quando inizia a legarsi il foulard ❤👍👍💖
Hello Emily,
The scarf and a girl with short hair, yes, I know that😉!
Thank you for this new useful and joyful video!
Yay! Thank you Bouchra!!
Great video. First video that I have seen that honors a loved one as well as highlights a casual dress code. Thank you!
Thank you Patricia!
this is such a great video! Being a visual person as well, this really helped me be able to DO the scarves!! Thanks!
Your videos are so beautifully produced. Inspiring! I collect vintage silk scarves and have a drawerful. Always looking for more inspiration. I put them around my waist as a belt a lot, too. Wrists they make a fun soft bracelet although a bit challenging to tie on ones self. I also love the halter top under a jacket look if you have a BIG scarf. I like the names you gave your styles, your vamping is 👌 and I LOVE that you talked about shapes and sizes. That makes a huge difference to how they can by sued. Brava!🙏👏Thank you.
I loved this. Very inspiring 👏 I was never sure if I could use a scarf with a turtleneck. Good to know I can. Thanks for sharing
Oh for sure! I always do
This was a fantastically helpful video. Love your style!! 🧣
Oh I’m so glad!!
Fabulous tips! I LOVE how you talked about the size of some of the scarves first. I have been looking for ideas and have not seed that before.
Oh good, I'm glad that was helpful
Great video on stylish scarf wearing ideas. Got me thinking....thanks.
You are so welcome!
This was great, thanks for sharing ❤
Excellent video! Thank you!!!
So glad you liked it!!
Regency cravat 😊
Ahhhh ok, thank you!!
Love that French bow especially! Thanks for these tips. ❤
Wrap a small scarf around your wrist:)
ooo yes, love that!
Ayyyyyeeeeee!!!!! One of the videos I've been waiting for! I clicked on this video so fast! Love all these ideas and 2nd most important. . . .thank you for providing the dimensions to each scarf. Very helpful indeed. You da bomb Em! ❤$
Oh good, I’m glad that was helpful!!
Loved this ❤ thanks Emily I've fallen back in love with my silk scarves 😍
I'm so glad!
Hello! My name is Sally, it's nice to meet you! I'm a 17 year old girl who loves scarves, especially wool scarves. I have short hair like you do as well (may be hard to see from my profile pic but I have a short bob haircut that may also be considered a type of "longer" bowl cut, whatever it's called I love it). Scarves are wonderful and protect my neck from the winter winds. Although maybe I love scarves too much, I keep my scarf on all day, despite the fact that my neck is always super hot and sticky from being drenched from sweat by the end of the day, I just love the feel and aesthetic of a scarf with my dresses. Ironically, I'm actually very cold-resilient and can handle subzero temperatures without needing a coat (I've been told that my sleeveless dress, scarf, and flats look I'm wearing today is more September than December, but I'm perfectly comfortable). Anyways, I really enjoyed your video!
Thank you lady! Love your style and channel. This was perfect timing...just getting into scarves!!
Oh good! Happy styling!
Definitely your ways are very easy to remember
Loved this . I get all my scarves at estate sales..a lot from people’s travels…from all over usually one to three dollars . I love the equestrian one. ❤
Thank you! I have a LOT of scarves and needed some inspo on how to wear them. I get in a rut….really appreciated how to wear smaller ones as spring is coming and necklaces are often too heavy.
Yes, great options for spring!
thank you! loved this content!
Just lovely - such a nice touch to your outfit 🎉
Thank you Sarah!
Summer in Sydney Australia: casual and unstyled to the point of dishevelled and boring. (Aussies feel free to disagree?) Today I've added a cotton bandana tied cowboy style to my black tshirt dress. Resisting the selfconscious vibe that I'm overdressed. But loving how edgy chic I'm feeling.
Oh good! I'm glad it gave a little edge to your paired down hot weather look! Bandana scarf is perfect for hot weather as well as it catches the sweat :-)
Thanks so much for this awesome video & the tips. I just received my black & white scarf yesterday (thanks to you)! Love this type of yumminess!!
Yay!! Happy styling!
awesome
Great tips 💙💙💙
Thank you!!
Definitely saving this one, thanks Emily! :)
So glad!
❤❤❤
Thanks!Love your style and these ideas!
Thank you Yo-wen!!
6:59 That neckband you meant worn by the dashing Darcy is, I think, a cravat.
😊Funny. Back in the 90s, I occasionally used that reverse triangle tie technique 🔻 w/a similar solid black scarf over a few fit & flare summery t-shirt dresses. The scarf had a nice soft drape, weight, & introduced a neutral I could build on w/my other accessories. Plus, this method provided a modesty panel for a decolletage cut a shade too low for my comfort😳.
Although instead of knotting the tail in back, I wrapped them back around in front & knotted them under the fabric swath. 😉Found it was easier to keep the longer scarf in the desired place when making the adjustments in front, instead of having to constantly yank it from the back😖.
Of course〰️on a smaller sized bandana scarf〰️I christened the 90s Mom style as Cowboy Chic. Inspired by 🤠 ranch hands on a cattle 🐂 drive who would be forced to pull this configuration up & over nose👃 to prevent them from choking dust when the cattle was being driven over the dry plains.
🍷The frou-frou faux silk equestrian 🐎 scarf pairs surprisingly well w/the more sturdy, basic black boxy, utilitarian tee🍺. That's a striking contradiction I can fully embrace.
✔️ Another worthy video. Your edgy casual chic 💯% resonates in my rebel spirit. ⚖️ Do love to study how you uniquely & cleverly balance rich, but subtle layers of contrast as well as femininity & masculinity ☯️. Highly enjoy hearing your detailed analysis & appreciate your imaginative spin. It definitely helps me refine my own style sensibilities and interpretation of those same three style components.

Great video as usual! As a fellow regency movie lover, that male neck scarf is called a 'cravat'.
Ahhh thank you!!
Or ascot.
Try a square knot too
What a great video. Thanks for the instructions. ❤
I really enjoyed it… you reminded me of my style…..👍🏾welcome back Gal🫶🏽
Depending on size and shape the lordly men's scarves were called with an ascot or a cravat which was normally larger and more embellished
Try the lavallière look with a shirt
I definitely will, thank you!
Love them all, $❤
Thank you SO much for including the measurements. It seems like everyone else on RUclips forgets...and then how are we supposed to know what size scarf to get if we can't try it in the store?
So glad that was helpful!
Loved it! ❤❤
Syal yang cantik, 👍
Ascot tie or Caveat? Thank you for your tips💕 🎉
What about the long and narrow scarves? Any styles for them?
First!
LOL!
It is called an ascot.
Unfortunately with a neck like mine the styles chosen would only bring attention to my neck, which imo isn't a good look. I prefer the French way and would love to see some styles that I could wear tbh 🙄
$💞
What is the fabric on those scarfs?.
Polyester for the Faux silk ones and cotton for the others. Cashmere is the black one from Everlane
Thank you doll!!
Ascott???
Is it still chic if you are a Grandma though? * asking for a friend*
Some of this woman's advice is pretty useful, but I don't understand why she keeps using the word "edgy." I mean, yeah, it might have been edgy 20 years ago, but virtually all of her looks are pretty mainstream now. Nothing wrong with being mainstream, of course, but the claim to "edginess" is a bit confusing.
Possibly as ascot for the Lords…
I think you're right!
Ascot
The channel started good but doesn't live up to edgy. Needs more shots of you wearing the clothes . I want to look at clothes not hear about them please.
Not very inventive…
Has anyone realize black is a thirty year old fashion! We should move on ladies!
I'm really sick of people thinking it's fashionable!
💯% Disagree on your wholesale ageist assessment. Black is an ageless ✊️power color. It is formal, conservative, respectful, & conveys authority. 🤔Your consigning certain colors to certain age groups is a very confining & old-fashioned notion.
Yes, our complexions & hair may change as we age👩🦳 or use chemicals to color👩🦰. These changing factors can require a fresh color assessment, but it doesn't mean tossing out 🗑 everything we know & love🖤. It simply means we all need to evolve with the times.
🧲 A modern (more minimal) classic individual naturally gravitates toward dark neutrals (blacks, navy, dark indigo, charcoals, rich granite gray, & for me that also includes a dark olive or khaki green). 🔑 The key to all color 🌈 is finding the right tone, intensity, & shade that flatters YOUR complexion (i.e., warm, cool, neutral) as well as your unique style personality😁.
In this case, making sure the most flattering black (or other shade) is nearest your face🤗. If you favor monochromatic looks like myself, shift the less favorable tone further away on a bottom piece. Or, try topping it w/a more vibrant tone in the same family by using a waistcoat, gilet, blazer, etc.
Lastly, change up your lip 💋 color as needed too to update. If any color washes you out😖, sometimes dialing up the intensity of your make-up can make all the difference in the world👍.
😉There is an incredible range ↔️ of black on the greyscale. Some colors are more clear & crisp while others have a more mottled or dirty cast. 🤣Not all color is created equal. The key is identifying the ones that make YOU bloom🌺.
😔If you're still feeling depleted by black after a reevaluation & style tweaks, by all means feel free to swap it for another dark neutral or other vibrant color at your own pleasure.

@@teresacarle294 this is the reason it is a thirty year old fashion! Because of people like this nice lady
@@rebeccavalicoff1581 Without a doubt, Emily always looks ⚡️striking in black. 📸 Trinny Woodall is a 50something contemporary fashion icon who looks 🪄 spectacular ✨️ in black. Today's OOTD clip was in fact all ◼️ black ◼️ w/a dash of her typical drama. She was fire🔥.
🤔Last week, Trinny of London also had a brilliant Closet Confessions video where she beautifully demonstrated the Modern Classic Style out of her own extensive collection. Again, more examples of her looking stunning in all black🖤.
💻 You should check her out. Although I suspect that still won't impact your rigid belief🤣.

@@teresacarle294 I agree some people may look good in black but everyone? Not so. It's like everybody wearing leggings or thongs....
@@rebeccavalicoff1581 Clearly, ♣️black is NOT everybody's cup of tea🍵 (any more than leggings or thongs). Still, these things can all look exceptionally good & bad on a variety of women spanning the ages.

Love all the scarves you have, and it does make a plain T-shirt look more pizzazz, one accessory that I like that you wear is the suspenders. Can you elaborate on that for a video and where do you get it? ❤❤
Yes, I think I’m going to do a video on specific accessories that add edge
Ascot
Love you and everything u do. Keep up great work 👍. Lot's if love 💘♥..
Thank you Tammy!
Love the attitude....❤️
Scarves have been my "lazy woman's style secret" for years! ❤️
I think the regal look is an CRAVAT. Similar to an ASCOT .
Loved this video. I have a few scarves in my wardrobe and I will definitely try some of these styles. Are the long scarves still in style?
Yes, they always are. I’m just not as big of a fan cuz I feel like you can do as much with them.
I have the madewell scarf and love it. Because it is cotton it stayes put. The silk scarves don't stay tied they get loose. Thanks for the tips, great suggestions.
Yea definitely easier with the cotton
Great inspiration!
Thank you, my friend, lots of inspiration there ❤
