I believe there is one mistake in this video. You said you need to cast w for whole duration early on when preparing minions for your q. But w deals maximum dmg after 0.75 seconds? Thats half the duration(1.5) ????
@@winnypoooo3546 I mean i accidentally got 90 percent wr in 10 games. Id say vampp scep is like where the game is over. But i agree bork is a better powerspike
one thing i believe you missed is how important it can be to "hide your E animation" for example there are 2 combos you can use: when you go for a Q on a minion in lane, you just Q and E at the same time to cover up the animation and then you can easily hit the second part of E, or if you go into W stance you can W and E (on your self) to cover up the first part of the E animation once more. This is important because irelias E animation is very telegraphed, she jumps slightly into the air whenever you press E.
A COUPLE REALLY IMPORTANT THING! new irela q does more damage to minions, w does more damage in general, and your q does more on hit damage at 4 stacks. so if you have your passive stacked you just have to get through the first few levels and you can start oneshoting caster minions. 2nd, irelia gets max w damage halfway through the charge, anything after that doesn't give you more damage for prepping minions 5:50. If you don't have enough damage to q minions, get about level 6, and just tap w, they will be low enough to one shot if you have passive stacked. She does more q damage than he makes it seem
Other tips&tricks from me: It’s preferable to use your W for the damage reduction instead of the damage it deals since your fully stacked autos tend to deal more damage If you need that slightly faster burst, then instead of ERQEQ you can also EREQQ ( as long as you’re in Q range after you throw R then you can “double Q” provided that your E lands). A lot of people actually don’t know about this If for some reason you’re running minion dematerializer, then you can use it on a minion and if you time your Q right, you can get a reset. Perfect for the early levels when you don’t minions to Q on. R slows on hit, which means as long as you don’t misuse your E, you will definitely land that stun. Also those blade walls from R deal damage and also slows anyone who takes it so try to R in a way that would make it so if the enemies try to escape, they’d have to go through that Fun fact: She also has voicelines for when she buys BORK, Trinity force and Titanic Hydra. There may be others but I haven’t tried every single item so...
Started league exactly a week ago and I wanted to try Irelia out 3 days in cuz she was rly pretty plus I’ve seen so many cool clips of her so I basically fell in love. Thank you for the tutorial it’s helped me settle into the game and made sense of some questions
How to play like a Shen main: Level 1 put q behind the wave if you don’t need to leash, walk near them once you get grasp and q. The slow should let you get 3 empowered autos off, winning you the trade and giving you control of the lane. If they don’t disrespect your sword, you get wave control for level 2 anyway. When you are near level 2 walk behind the minion that is going to die and get ready to level your taunt and go in on them. Against some matchups your level 3 is actually stronger like Renekton or other onhit stuns, so play around that as well (your w can block auto attack stuns). Against some champs like sett, consider saving your e for dodging his w. Other champs to save e against include: Tahm Kench (dodge his w with it if you need to) Irelia (use e to dodge stun and try and taunt her) etc, if champs have an ability you can dodge then saving your dash might be a good idea. Only ult when it turns a fight. Don’t ult to save someone’s life and only ult bot if you can rely on an engage supp to go in and get you a double taunt. It’s soloq so a lot of the time don’t rely on people. Champs with high mobility are great to ult as long as they are more mobile than the enemy laner. General Tips: Q through the enemy, wait. When your q is almost back up, taunt, auto 3 times, q again, 3 more autos. Very good burst in lane. Against ranged enemies, plan ahead your csing and try and time it with your passive, you can negate a lot of poke this way. Ulting junglers when they go to gank isn’t a bad idea. That’s all, thanks for coming to my Shen Ted Talk. If you think I missed anything comment below but if you guys are gonna make more guides like this 100% make one on Shen he is really good Edit: I forgot to mention what you do in team fights, 99% of the time I suggest peeling your carry. It can be tempting to taunt into the enemy team and do it if it wins you the fight, but a lot of the time they will just ignore you and kill your back line. Don’t hesitate to ult your carry for the shield. Also there is some secret technology with Warmog Shen, just lookup Warmog Shen trust me :)
Thank you for sharing this knowledge. The level breakpoints on W is something i didn't know it helped A LOT at confidently engaging and waveclearing. My Irelia stats are terrible so far but i feel like i'm learning something new every game. I've been getting much more confident at the lanephase, only problem is landing e consistently - sometimes the second part doesn't even go off for some reason if i double tap it very fast. Teamfighting has been rough however since whenever i go R 3 people i get tossed around like a pinball and hit by every single cc imaginable the second i q onto the first target. One thing i learned about teamfighting is always holding your second e until you reach their backline. Using it instantly is pretty useless most of the time even if it hits since you are most like to get cc/ed or they flash after being hit with your ult.

i have always felt Irelia was too hard for me to play (especially being a bronzie), and that's a lot of the reason why i never really played her (outside of an ARAM or two). I am glad you addressed that in this video.
yehhh she's got a couple things about her right. you gotta be quick and decisive enough to use her mobility efficiently, and her stun takes a bit to get the hang of too. but she also has incredible attack range for a melee champion, and one of the best auto-attack animations in the game. like, it comes out fast. her "wind-up" is fast, while her "backswing" is much longer. meaning her attack animation gives her some incredible chase-down potential. like, she can kite and chase as if she were ranged because, well, yeah, what i said.

Ehm... there are a lot more mechanical things you can do with irelia. -w flash, if you time it correctly the aou will move with you on the flash -w e, if you do it correctly the enemy will not notice the first and or the second e. The first e can be hidden by casting it on your position and starting the w. The second e can be placed anywhere where the w can reach. Combine this with the first combo and you can spend a few days in practice tool. If you need to get close you can also start this combo by q ing on a minion. -q r, when r is casted mid q the champion irelia used her q on will always be hit and the r can be cast in any direction. This can be really usefull against high mobility champions or teamfights -q flash, this is a little more obscure but buffering your q for long range engages might save you from wasting your flash and looking stupid. finally, there is a bit more to the r flash. when timed correctly, the animation will start at the posion where irelia was casting it but the hitbox will start from the point where irelia flashed to, making it pretty much impossible to dodge. If you don't cast it in the same direction you flashed in, it becomes even more confusing because the animation will move in the direction of the end point of the ults hitbox.
One of my problems with irelia personally is just that although she has a high skill ceiling she has a very low skill floor. Like perfecting her takes time but her overall kit is strong and ez to pick up in a short period of games
When i realized i know everything told about her in this video and did every single thing in my games (and even more things that aren't shown in the video) already before i watch this, i smiled ;p
Lower health, lower dmg from bork. Yo can tell difference in practice tool. So ensure u have a q for ending. Plus be patient know when waves come so they cant escape. Abilities better lower health they are, aa better higher health
It's all about dmg, during a period. Not burst. Try learn sustain then health. Your abilities heal you, so more health relative, so just reduce the dmg input
In 6:00 you talk about having to hold max W to prep minions. If I'm right, W only increases in damage in the first 0.75 seconds of channeling (half of max channel). There's no point in holding it over half of its duration.
I recall a game I had a couple of days ago as Talon vs Irelia, she did not hit a single W or E on me on the lane, but having fully stacked passive she Q'd and atuto'd me once and dealt more damage than Talon's QW+passive proc
@@WindWalker337 I know the feeling... I have spent so many early games causing an Irelia to go 0/5 in lane, just for her to get BOTRK, stack passive, then dominate every team fight. Everyone says "wAiT oUt tHe PasSive", but it is just so easy for her to stack. She is always a threat cus she doesn't need her stun to gap close, and only needs passive to out duel anyone who isn't ridiculously fed...
I liked being an Irelia main last season, I started playing her because I loved her kit and the challenge of learning to play her (like if you missed your E you would lose a lot of damage, so mistakes were punished). Now with the rework I feel like E is too easy to dodge, but even if you miss you still win the fight. I'm kinda sad, maybe others aren't like me but my love for this game comes from taking my time to learn something I like and challenging myself, weather I win or lose. That's why I don't like playing stuff like Garen or Annie, simple is good but I wished they'd keep a certain "skill cap" (pun intended)
@@maxzerbini_music I completelly agree I as an Irelia main hate this mini rework, It took out the joy of playing her. Its clunky and her dmg sometimes is unreasonable. Her learning curve was challenging and I felt the progression with every match I played.
I've been wondering, does anyone know how death's dance interacts with the "rock solid" passive on Warden's mail/Frozen Heart/Randuin's? Like, which one is calculated first? It does actually matter... You'd take more burst damage initially if Rock Solid was calculated first. The idea is similar to how flat pen and % pen works. like, you'd do more magic dmg if % pen is calculated before flat pen, rather than the other way around...which is the reason it works like that. I've never seen anyone use both DD + Rock Solid together before, so idk how its calculated or if its coded for the 2 passives to work optimally with each other.
for mythic i recommend tri-force since it raises your attack speed by 50% and when you full stack that only raises it 20% along with the (i think) 15% for the blade of the ruined king for a total of +85% crazy dmg numbers you should try
So what about eclipse does that also work if not why I’m new to mobas and wanna get better at top lane so maybe I’m missing why. I can see one arguement being you already have enough life steal so more dmg is better
5:50 that's false you don't have to hold W for the entire duration it should be charged after you hear the sound getting sharper and well it's on the description of W the ability I think it's 1.5 secs for max damage
Isn't the damage on her W maxed when the swords shine? (About half of the duration)... In that case, holding it longer for "more damage" wouldn't work.
My Irelia's lvl 6 with 2 token for lvl 7, and the champion that's really hard to fight/combat as an Irelia is Illaoi. Illaoi cancels Irelia greatly, whenever I see an Illaoi pick as Irelia, I just play VERY safe.
Landing irelias e is the most important ability to get early kills. It is a unique skill shot so it takes some time to get used to and land reliably but after you get used to it playing irelia is a lot easier.
this is great but im sad the invisible e didnt get mentioned, because you can e during your q dash if you q to a minion or player and use your e at the same time the e is hidden behind the dash animation, this can make e engage very easy and also how you see those high level irelia players have instant e procs that look impossible to do
Hahaha "players tend to be oblivious of what Irelia is doing." That's so true. I remember one match where I was doing fairly well, I got about 5-7 kills as usual. But I remember someone laughed saying "Irelia is administrating her abilities with minios hahaha" At first I didn't get it, but I realized he was talking about me, going after the weaker minions first lol Of course that guy had no idea how to use Irelia. Basically, every time you one shot a minion with her Q, you can use it as many times as you wish without having to wait for the cooldown. Also, I've noticed that many players get over confident against her. The first minutes of gameplay she has to backoff a lot, but the moment she's ready...hell she IS ready
There are a ton of mechanics not covered in this. Such as charging W while dashing. Hiding E inside R. Flash animation cancel auto after Q. This guide will teach you basics only. Look else where if you intend to master Irelia.
I am a irelia main, but I still have struggle with the starting item. Corrup or blade? Normally ill go corrupt when I vs range, blade when vs champs like yasuo zed or talon. Shield is when it’s kat or something havily poke and good all in potential.
D Blade with one potion is more than enough sustain and increases your early game dmg by a big amount. You also get mana from biscuits and presence of mind. I would recommend d blade because it makes your champion more powerful in the early game, the most important time of the game.
I did go presence of mind a time too but I feel like triumph is just so good that I can't not take it It allows you to do more aggressive plays like dives and play teamfight different But you have to be more caution with your mana in early
No, it's not a buffer because the skill doesn't come out faster, it actually only changes her r animation. If you flash late the r looks like it starts from where you started your flash but appears from where your flash ended.
As a TF main I want to have an AD mid when Im having a Ap top and Jungle/supp, play a champ that people fear and being respected for once ahaha. thank you for this guide. I've been playing for quite a few years.. ran into this hero .. and was horrible. much appreciated
In 6:00 you talk about having to hold max W to prep minions. If I'm right, W only increases in damage in the first 0.75 seconds of channeling (half of max channel). There's no point in holding it over half of its duration.
This videos is so good
Good content!!
I thought irelia was easy until I watched this video😂😂
I keep on getting Irelia skins from the fucking chests so I might as well learn how to main her xD thanks for the video
How to p[lay like a main shoiuld def be a series, id love to learn how to play other champs too, like ornn or more complex ones like shen
shen is a complex one? you only need map awareness
Who else is watching this because they’re sick of this “high skill” champ steam rolling their team after getting one item?
Omg finallyyyyyyy a good guide
for mythic i recommend tri-force since it raises your attack speed by 50% and when you full stack that only raises it 20% along with the (i think) 15% for the blade of the ruined king for a total of +85% crazy dmg numbers you should try
i literally got my first irelia penta after watching that guide. tysm
Here after a 2/9/2 game 😫 she’s so cool but I’m terrible at playing her. One day!!
Looking for tutorial irelia wild rift ended up watching irelia pc version 😂
that beginning top lane play tho GOT DAMN
was the game like this? 4:08 100-0 lux through W shield and irelia has doran + long sword + potion
So what about eclipse does that also work if not why I’m new to mobas and wanna get better at top lane so maybe I’m missing why. I can see one arguement being you already have enough life steal so more dmg is better
i want to play this irelia and mastering this champion
I would love more videos like this for more champs
Please make a guide for camille, great vid btw.
5:50 that's false you don't have to hold W for the entire duration it should be charged after you hear the sound getting sharper and well it's on the description of W the ability I think it's 1.5 secs for max damage
great video and age's pretty well
hello, loved your videos. btw please increase your voice in the video since its kinda hard to hear even at full volume
Whoever does this narration reminds of World of Warcraft arena guides a lot
Yep. I need this as a Support primary.
how did she get the q active again on 7:23 ?? im trying to understand her
PLEASE do it for Fiora too !
Isn't the damage on her W maxed when the swords shine? (About half of the duration)... In that case, holding it longer for "more damage" wouldn't work.
0.75 Secs it's half of the w :) (Irelia main)
Should i start unlocking my screen with Irelia? I hit all Skillshots most if the time with her. I saw no problem with having it on
You should defenitely unlock it
For example you can't just q 5 Minions in an instant with locked camera
My Irelia's lvl 6 with 2 token for lvl 7, and the champion that's really hard to fight/combat as an Irelia is Illaoi. Illaoi cancels Irelia greatly, whenever I see an Illaoi pick as Irelia, I just play VERY safe.
4:45 Jhin: [Visible confusion]
But I remember someone laughed saying "Irelia is administrating her abilities with minios hahaha"
At first I didn't get it, but I realized he was talking about me, going after the weaker minions first lol
Of course that guy had no idea how to use Irelia. Basically, every time you one shot a minion with her Q, you can use it as many times as you wish without having to wait for the cooldown.
Also, I've noticed that many players get over confident against her. The first minutes of gameplay she has to backoff a lot, but the moment she's ready...hell she IS ready
i finally have a goal that i cant achieve
There are a ton of mechanics not covered in this. Such as charging W while dashing. Hiding E inside R. Flash animation cancel auto after Q.
This guide will teach you basics only. Look else where if you intend to master Irelia.
I am a irelia main, but I still have struggle with the starting item. Corrup or blade? Normally ill go corrupt when I vs range, blade when vs champs like yasuo zed or talon. Shield is when it’s kat or something havily poke and good all in potential.
i always go corrupt for hp and mana sustain so i can keep using q. im in d3
Yea but that is why presence of mind is picked of late. Allows you to go doran's blade and still get mana back
D Blade with one potion is more than enough sustain and increases your early game dmg by a big amount. You also get mana from biscuits and presence of mind.
I would recommend d blade because it makes your champion more powerful in the early game, the most important time of the game.
I did go presence of mind a time too but I feel like triumph is just so good that I can't not take it
It allows you to do more aggressive plays like dives and play teamfight different
But you have to be more caution with your mana in early
11:35 Pretty sure that is called "Spell buffering/ Input buffering"
No, it's not a buffer because the skill doesn't come out faster, it actually only changes her r animation. If you flash late the r looks like it starts from where you started your flash but appears from where your flash ended.
You can have lvl 8 Q with 137 - 140 ad and still one hit casters. After the 10:30 minute mark, that does not work anymore tho
Can you make a Riven Guide aswell?
Bro I don't play irelia but man this guide made me soo excited to main her good job man and keep going
As a TF main I want to have an AD mid when Im having a Ap top and Jungle/supp, play a champ that people fear and being respected for once ahaha. So Im trying to main irelia, but hate playing in normal game so Im sorry for my mates in ranked games who will have to deal with a noob first time irelia mid in their next game (I was maining the old irelia top, when she had a point and click stun on E and her ult was just some kind of firework she threw
1:45 man I was so expecting a pentakill and now I'm disappointed
Is it easier to hit her E by put the E behind the enemy or Infront of the enemy?
on top is fine. the issue is they will try to dodge it. you can try hiding your first E by putting it inside a minion just before using Q.
A really underrated build that I think may have been over looked is a wits end build with wits Bork guinsoos and sun fire they all give you crazy on hit damage and some tankiness while not sacrificing burst
nc vid helped me a LOT
i'm an irelia main with about 56% WR about 400 games played and i still have games that i just int my ass off
