At 8:10 mark he had me sold enough to watch all of the video's as of lately my assignments have been on time and I've stopped 3x writing time in editing. Yes it is confusing because it's counter productive of what "normal" document formatting is. Thank you Chris and I would like a version of this video where you use the macro's
I am working on a technical report for work and had inserted my references as "endnotes." I had intended to place the appendix items after the section call references (where the endnotes were at in my document as it was written. It appears that Word is not letting me go beyond the endnotes to insert additional pages, or breaks, etc. Any thoughts on how to make the necessary adjustments. I just want to have References, followed by Appendices in that order for the technical report. I would likely switch page number to A-1, A-2, etc in the first appendix and go on from there with the remaining appendix items if there are any.
Thanks for the video. This helped me properly number the pages in the appendix as A-1, A-2, etc. Your video also helped me properly add the Appendix to the TOC and properly align the Appendix heading to the far left. HOWEVER, the Appendix heading showed up in my Navigation Pane WAY over to the far right (demoted as a the 9th sub-heading i think). How do i make it show up in the far left instead as a main heading??
Hi Amalia, try right clicking on any heading in the Navigation Panel and selecting Show Heading Levels - changing this to Level 9 should show up the appendix heading. I didn't need to make this change on my version of Word, it already shows up.
Hi , I am required to have the title of each appendices section 3 lines below the word Appendix A for each appendix cover page..?? Any help very much appreciated, I've been at this all day!!!
@@engineeredupgrade Hi! Yes, its a kind of work around and its better than simply pressing 'enter' as you say in your video. It presents nicely in the ToC as well. I have been playing around with paragraph settings all day to see if write a title, apply an Appendix style, and then it puts the Appendix name 3 lines above, I'm doing my dissertation and some bright spark put this as a requirement...🙄
This is not at all the best way to do this because you cannot use your navigation pane. Instead, Create a new Style based on Heading 1. Then Call it Appendix 1. Modify the Style so you have the word Appendix before the number. And you can change from 1, 2, 3 to A, B, C if you want. Then the Appendix appears in the navigation pane just as Heading 1 would appear.
This is the most confusing direction I've ever witnessed. He jumps between levels, headings, and paragraph settings in the blink of an eye. Perhaps I'm just too slow to keep up. I stopped watching a third of the way in as my eyes glazed over. Sorry. He seems like a really nice guy. I like his demeanor very much.

3:48 - previous what?
How do you show the Appendix in the Navigation Panel if we make it heading 9? Can you fix that? Thanks!

Does using shift+enter help? It'll take me a while to come up with a better solution looking solution (trying to play around with paragraph spacing)

@@engineeredupgrade Oh, and thank you!!
I could not duplicate the same. There has to be a simpler way
He keeps referring to his other videos to understand where he is and what he is doing in this video.
Very useful information. Unfortunately very bad filmed. Is not very visible.
