i can't tell if the gold shining on her back is meant to be symbolic of her war instincts kicking in at her impending doom, or if it's implying some new power is awakening within her. if the latter, maybe there's a chance she'll survive this attack, and be added as a champion to use them.
I absolutely love how they decorated her braids. Her outfit is gorgeous and it compliments her intellect so well. I can't emphasize how much effort they put into every character
Mel seducing Jayce was a Cleopatra level of genius power-play. She was already the richest person in Piltover but now she has the creator and owner of Hex-Tech wrapped around her finger. What makes the story better is she unintentionally catches feeling for him because despite also being a total HUNK, Jayce loves and admires her for who she is, whereas her mother banished her for it and left her feeling inadequate. He also demonstrates the moral conviction that she was banished for, which she seems to have put aside in favour of accumulating wealth and power as a subconscious way of proving herself to her mother. Him admiring her so much, and upholding his moral values, I think, contributes to her voting for peace with Zaun in Ep. 9, it’s not just her choosing the city over her homeland, it’s choosing Jayce and wanting to do right by him and live up to his ideal view of her over her mother and her desire for approval.
Her dedication to her craft, oftentimes using love as an approach, shows just how far she's willing to go for success - but Jayce really changed that - the end really was no longer for her benefit but for the betterment of everyone. Sadly, it was jinxed in the end...
People hate Mel for her getting in the way of the Jayce/Viktor relationship but you captured it well here. She started off manipulating him but eventually grew to love and admire Jayce.

She inherited her mother's talent for strategy, but not for war, and so spends her time receiving kickbacks from her constituents and allies if she can remove political obstacles for them. For some reason, it took me a while to appreciate her importance to the story.
If you think about it, she made Piltover for what it stands today - just not at the forefront but the player who moves the pieces. I really hope S1 isn't the end of her but chances are very slim...

I honestly think she survived cause if you slow the video down when her golden markings are glowing at the end, shes literally wearing no clothes. That dress she always wears covers her entire back but for this scene the animators really wanted us to see that her gold lights up clearly, that must be intentional. She probably used the locket item to protect jayce and viktor because hes sitting in the chair to her left, if she would have blown up then they cant have survived either. Im pretty sure they wouldnt kill of both jayce and viktor since theyre both in game characters.
Well... the teaser shows her mother's troops in Piltover. This seems to suggest that they are there to avenge her. So... well... things aren't looking good.
