Just in case you didn't know, the owner of this channel, mosogotam, whose real name is John Perrone, sadly passed away April 5, 2020 from COVID-19. He was an absolute genius for this and all the other wonderful tracks he created. May he rest in peace.
Do not worry. John Perrone, mosogotam, began to rest in peace at the moment death struck him. I do hope that he will awake in the first resurrection when Jesus Christ shall return to this earth again. Perhaps I never knew mosogotam, I am still appalled that he caught coronavirus, and then he died. This is a loss that hurts like the attacks on America on September 11, 2001. The musical works done by mosogotam are incredible. Fortunately for me, the music is not dead.
When I was a child I lived on Lake Erie and bought an old transistor radio at a yard sale for 25 cents I remember on Friday nights the warm red glow on the wall in my bedroom coming from the back of the radio as the voices of all of the Mowtown greats slowly sprung to life . Turning that knob and slowly hearing Smokey’s voice was always a childhood treat Still to this day it takes me back to a special time in my childhood
1st Time I heard a bassoon on a pop record. I met Smokey on an Elevator at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, doing a tribute to Hal David's 90th Birthday, I was backing most of the other acts on the show including Stevie Wonder, but Smokey did a simple piano vocal version of Burt Bacharach's and Hal David's "Walk On By" without the band. , he was one of the nicest guys I met on that show. A huge hero of mine.
I spent the past day trying to figure out what they're singing behind the Pagliacci verse. I was so glad to find this edit. A nice stretched version, plus the lyrics I was looking for are very clear here.
magovenor Yes!!! I did. I play all of John’s extended plays on the treadmill at an incline of 15 for an hr 5-7 days a wk!!! I also, mainly eat baked meats, veggies, and fruits. Carbs only in the morning!
When I hear this song bring back memories growing up in oak cliff - so many sweet memories I guess I was aroud 12 or 13 . And most of I miss my mother she was 97 . Bles her sweet heart .

You're welcome! I love this music and you do an amazing job! This music makes me happy and keeps me dancing! You are the MAN! Keep up this amazing work!
Always come back to this remix. Wish it had been available in the UK when I listened to the original in the back of my parents car. Best wishes and KTF.
Im late to the game in discovering your version,2019, but its a masterful piece. My brain is so familiar with walking thru this song but you have just given it new legs. Great job and thank you!
Wow, how have I not heard this ep version yet? Mosogotam, you are my hero! Thank you💪💞 Edit: He did pass, may he rest in peace. Still my hero and I'm sad to hear of his passing.
😒 It makes ya wonder what kinds and styles and genres the thumbs downers actually do enjoy 🧐💭⁉️ They know it’s good music, they just want to be oppositional!
HOLY SHITE - A CLASSIC REVISITED = THE 1960s & the 1970s sound fresher than ever - what you do on YT we do on the turntables every night - thank you for posting to be heard everywhere 24-7!!- DAVEDJ
In all my years I've never really had the luxury of enjoying The Miracles unheralded and under-appreciated background vocals on this track till now. Great, Great post!
the midnight man does it again John I love your mixws and always look forward to them and again you did it too a real classic thanks my man I always love these, gorde
My granduncle was a professional musician back in the 40s and 50s (he was a backing musician for Big Bill Broonzy among other accomplishments) - and would have been more than thrilled to be a session player on this one.
Much better than an Easter egg John, thanks for uploading. I was getting worried thought you`d gone MIA again LOL. Top job as always keep `em comin` ;o)
Oh shitfire! So you nailed another great tune, just perfectly. I am in total amazement how you can always meld great sound with excellent documentary and pics, without taking anything away from the original recording. In my humble opinion, you are just enhancing great music and may only be contributing to enjoyment by more folks. Quicksand and Livewire? Mr Big Stuff? It should probably be on a Tamla/Motown release right? Have a beautiful night and thanks again for sharing your talents, mosogotam!
I like the extend songs better than the short ones that were recorded on seven-inch discs known as 45 rpm records, edited for radio airplay. It sounds clean on RUclips.
That is why I love the extended songs. The radio versions that were on 7" 45 rpm discs that you call originals were recorded to fit in the program the radio stations had limited time within the program segments. The extended versions sound more complete than the short versions. This "Tears of a Clown" Mosogotam version is my number one favorite.
I'm a huge fan of your extended versions of the Motown classics...to include some others that aren't Motown. I have a request...could you formulate one for Stevie Wonder's version of "We Can Work It Out" in the same way that you did this one and many others? I don't have the talent, but you do my friend:).

First resurrection Captain?
RIP John a much missed legend 🙏
Wonder if the bassoon player ever dreamed that one day he'd be on one of the best-loved classics in pop/soul when he chose that instrument !!

This is the best extended version of "Tears of a Clown," and it sounds perfect on RUclips. It is my favorite. Mosogotam did a superior job.
RIP Mosogotam. You are truly a Class Act! You've turned a masterpiece into a Megapiece.
Smokey would have been proud to meet you in person too.
Marvin was the pillars, Stevie the arches, and Smokey the jewel of Motown, hands down.
Nice metaphor!
All of the Motown artists were the best. The Funk Brothers were an outstanding supportive band that made Motown music remarkable.
They and the other Motown singers and musicians have been the very best.
Never understood til now he sang, "smiling in the public eye..." Major Props....
But in my lonely room I cry! Yes Lord!!
Smokey Robinson, the greatest lyricist of the 20th century, bar none.

And harpsichord! Had never heard either one on a pop song before.Wish I knew the story behind adding them.🙂
I am a 60 yr old musician, and i can say i have heard several of your ext versions, and you sir have some serious talent.
Unfortunately, he passed away last April due to Covid
@@NOV123 WHAAAAT ? WOW RIP

Totally agreed. I'm kind of shocked to hear this music lover passed on.
