- Working in a paper mill was never a career path that Sonni saw for herself, until she met International Paper recruiters on her college campus. See why she chose to work at IP and why she continues to stay. Also, meet more of our employees like Sonni and learn about IP’s REACH development program for early career professionals in manufacturing.

I retired from the paper mill at Wickliffe Ky. It started out as Westvaco, went through several companies, was shut down, reopened by the Chinese.
i apply last week let see what's happen.
I work at a paper mill that’s union, swing shift, 2-1/2 pay on holidays. Unlimited overtime. Starting wage of $26 an hour. It’s been around since 1889
I work at paper mill too the staring wage is 18
What union
Worked in pulp and paper mill back in Poland. Pays better than average.
@@joelandlauracastillo5863 the mill i work at starts out at 30 an hr
@KingHB appleton wi
Average person has no idea what pulp and paper industry is all about when they throw coffee paper cup in the garbage or load sheets of A4 into photocopy machine. I bet most would be quite surprised with complexity and technology used.
Is that the plant in MN?
Let’s not forget to mention how foul smelling those paper plants are. The first time I drove by one in Pickwick Tennessee I thought it was dead fish in the lake. Nope, it was a paper mill.
Very good for her and anyone lucky to work for IP. I worked for Westvaco/MeadWestvaco/New Page/Verso at Luke, Md., and would still gladly be there if Verso wouldn't have given us the bone by shutting our mill down. Hopefully IP treats their employees better.
I worked 8 years southern swing shift at a paper mill in Putney VT as a beaterman I would clock in and work non stop for 12 hours day or night. It was messy hard physically mentally trying work that never ended, and it beat me down. I wouldn't change it for anything though because taught me what real hard work is. The money was okay but it truly ruined my life, give me a shout if you want a hard working paper maker that knows the business on the inside of the mill.
I just got hired as a corrugate helper at international paper. You think I should take the job?
Did you take it??
@@Theescampede nah. They was tryna put me on a shift that didn’t fit my schedule for my kids n they was tryna say it’s demanding overtime if I get stuck at work daily then that’s what it is! Nah my job works around me I don’t work around them!
Where u work now? I'm being trained as operator but it's unbelievably shitty equipment that breaks down daily, then the bosses get pissy with u for not producing numbers
Sound like a whimp no body at our mill is killing themselves yea we work 12 hours a day non stop no breaks but it's not like where doing really physical work
I work at one and it's Union swing shift double time every Sunday every holiday double time plus paid s
Day off any time you want etc pretty boring job but money is good
I need to know more . I may be looking for work up there
I work for a contractor at ip and would do anything to be able to work for IP. It's so interesting and amazing the amount of coordination and leadership displayed around the mill. I see something new every day.

Not starting out as a process engineer. They are basically entry level grunts for salary side.
They rarely hire anyone and two paper mills shut down in my state. Dying industry
No papel mill equals no boxes, and trust me boxes ain't going no where
@@Selgino Right! amazon = one paper mill.

Its actually better now. They changed the schedule where i work at. We work 12 hr shifts 4 days and 4 days off but we can now choose to work more if we want to. I just went from a temp to a permanent worker and got a raise
I work at a IP mill, definitely not very clean places to work lol
That’s just the paper mill environment tho, not the company. It’s up to us employees to do our jobs and keep it a clean, safe mill!!
Take care Zach. Be safe cccc
Paper mill = $$ ran DCS for 6 years at one…will prolly go back into it
She has to be the hottest lady in the entire industry.
Agreed, that accent she has, has me weak at the knees WOW
@@chadbamford2064 you trippin. That bitch look basic asf
What kind of drug testing is there at international paper
6 panel drug test.
Should be called, I never imagined myself working at a Paper Mill and dying of Cancer at an early age.
What? Is she dead?
Doubt it. This guy is just scared of a blue collar job to get his hands dirty and sweat. Loves to share finger foods with Susan at the office
Tyler Rogers Look at how cool I am, personal safety? Pffft. I WANT Throat, Mouth, and Lung Cancer from interacting with Black and White Liquor and other Carcinogens. Honestly I can’t stand people like this, it’s not “Not wanting to get your hands dirty”, it’s not wanting to die before you turn 50, the fear of death is not a thing people should laugh at.
Mr Gritty No (I hope not),alot of the Chemicals used in the proccess of making paper are Carcinegic, meaning they cause many types of Cancers, and people who work at these plant have a high chance of contracting Cancer.
@@Rogers15 I'm a welder. I have a blue collar job.
