Great video. Can’t wait for more auction videos. Hope you win some of the lots that you bid on. It would be interesting what the fees for shipping and customs and duties are. Would be educational
Love your channel Brother, thank you from Scotland. The grey market is full of ego, seems to attract a certain type...🤡...Once I get enough money together I will be coming to you to source my watch. Thank you for all that you do, keep it humble, beautiful work ❤️
A few celebrities started wearing strange old Cartier some time ago and it totally started a new trend. These are not THAT expensive but often harder to find. And these clients dont care about watchmaking at all, its just a trend. Cartier Crash today is what Daytona and GMT and 5711 were during the covid era. Just the latest status symbol trend... I am really interested how long will this last and how it will end...
Honest question; Why are auctions the place to determine the state of the vintage watch market? I buy vintage watches regularly and the market seems the same as it always has been, at least to me. The watches I want are no harder or less hard to get, they have just become more expensive. But everything has become more expensive, Including food. For example; the neo-vintage 16710 for sale on Adams website is a great watch and there are many of them for sale at the moment on the open market. From Dealers, forums, ebay, etc. And they get sold. And then there are more of them. It's endless. Wouldn't that suggest that the vintage market is strong? What do auctions have to do with that? Is it more specific to rare, 6 figure, type vintage watches? Maybe it's another world that I don't understand.
@@asburycollins9182 I was just looking at the results of a few past actions in 2022 and 2023 within the sub-50k range. Just to curb my enthusiasm. Primarily the submariner 5513 ft first and mtr first examples. Many of them aren't indicative at all of the current asking price both from dealers and private sellers. What's more, they have only slightly incrementally moved since 2021. If it's about "what people will pay" to determine the artificial asking price I don't really understand why you'd use an auction as the measuring stick for this. Especially for the majority of used items within the 10-50k range as a single "auction" is such a small pool of data compared to the global marketplace.
@@davide8641 So let's say a sub 5513 sells right now for around 18k USD privately across the globe? but then at a bunch of auctions over the course of 2024 they sell for closer to 50k (maybe some rich people decided to overpay or alcohol and ego was involved) in a year or so the global price for that same 5513 will be 50k? That's how these dictate the private market.
I had the Breguet tourbillon, the AP perpetual , they are wonderful, amongst all I like the Royal Oak and Patel Perpetual calendar most ! Just unaffordable by now
You know, I used to think that as well. But these auction houses have MAJOR overhead. Just the printing of catalogs costs a fortune. Certainly in the art world, they make a killing. Not sure about the watch world. However, a lot of people get stars in their eyes when considering auctioning a watch, and think it will sell for all the money in the world, and they neglect other avenues to sell their watch…which usually could net them more money 🤷🏼♂️
As a watch enthusiast for 30 years, I gad never seen the Bamboo Cartier. With all the bit-coin-bandwagon-buyers and the world wide internet market, this 43K watch will be sold at a profit.
Cartier is one of the first wrist watchmakers. They’re Santos is a horological icon, idk what some of these comments are talking about? A Santos Caree is as timeless now as it was 60 years ago. How are you even a watch fan and dislike Cartier?
I like the content but your click bait bullshít title I can’t stand. Clearly the market isn’t dead. And you didn’t ever make a reference to the overall market being somewhat strong.
It's a piece of art with the thin skeleton dial. As any art work, a viewer can have his/her's opinion. They might like it, or not. But in the end, it doesn't matter. The supply/demand will decide what its worth. Knowledge is key for the right assessment and just to dismiss a valuation because of one's taste is ignorance 😢
Love this kind of content, Adam. Watched from beginning to end. 👍
🙏🙏🙏
Clickbait title
Golden rule pick a price and be comfortable with it. You don't lose anything and you get the thrill of the auction
Words to live by.
Love the openness and your review of the auctions
Love your auction reports. Thank you 🙏
Thanks for watching!
I really don’t understand how Cartier watches are going for the prices they are lately. There are so many other watches from IWC JLC that are better.
It's all hype and brand ,nobody is interested or even knows iwc
People who buy cartier dont know what a iwc is
Brother. You are NOT wrong. Lol
@@asburycollins9182 do you know is patek philippe cartier , do you onow what is Cartier

Great content - for the Cloche, there have been a couple sold for more and one that sold for nearly 100k a few years ago at auction

Auctions are used to set the market price for many things. In stores they will be more expensive. Very common

there is information lag between the first movers and the people who just buy a watch to buy a watch

Great video bud
🙏
Adam, top notch!
thx for hard numbers and what you would expect to sell for
Pretty strong selling prices once again.
No I think your bids were fair, you need to get them for a good price allowing you to sell and make a profit. Enjoyable video.
This is peak Cartier
Watches! But no watches for Adam
😢
Assuming they take another 10% off the seller, even at 20% BP these auction houses are making a killing. They will find a way to keep things afloat

New watch market is declining, too much supply.
Vintage watch market is definitely on the rise.

Puzzlin' Evidence.

Did you even watch the video?
Shopping at Harrods with a dime budget
you must do it live
We bid in so many auctions, many of them live. Hard to do all of them.
Don’t get the Cartier prices
TIMEX says no
The market is rebounding from rock bottom.
Id be happy to see a big decrease. Thats when to buy. Greedy when others are fearful.
You are not wrong!
