It sucks, Link and Zelda need to just be kept as business partners or something, they don't strike me as having much in common to get together also the hero and princess getting together is overrated as fuck, I know that's normal in fairy tales but I want something different. Same for Link and Zelda in SKyward Sword even if Zelda is not a princess, they're still childhood friends and we know childhood friends always get together. I'm sick of these overrated cliches. Though really, I don't think Link getting together with any girl is a good idea for a zelda game. I like it better if they have the romance end in tragedy like in Link's Awakening or Twilight Princess. As melodramatic as that may be, I like tragic romances because they're better than the usual happily ever after romance, me not personally being a fan of romance and it makes sense for a not so romance series like Zelda.

There's something I really like about Xenoblade Chronicles: How they handle character interactions. In my opnion, Shulk x Fiora was one of the most well-rounded, most properly handled pairing in all of Nintendo history.
Mario/Peach was arguably my first ever ship. Nintendo may not ever let them get married or officially confess their love to each other (thank you, Odyssey, for baiting me with that and then yanking it away from me :D), but to me they're canon anyway, and I will die on that hill.
