    As someone relatively new to crochet, I need to remember that more intricate or difficult patterns do not define beautiful projects. I keep chasing more and more difficult patterns and forget that simple stitches can create a gorgeous effect. Thank you for this reminder! Time to order a swift and dive into the yarn from Expression Fiber Arts!

    I listen to Audible books, or music, and sometimes I sit outside on my deck , in the sunshine, and listen to nature , while I knit or crochet. I remember when I was intimidated by crocheting...since I was first a knitter. But with your tutorials and spunky spirit, you’ve encouraged me to try so many crochet patterns! The projects are completed more rapidly, and the sense of satisfaction is greater ! Thank you for sharing.

    Love your videos, Chandi!! They, themselves, are meditative! I love feeling like I can relax into a pattern. I don't worry about my speed, I don't listen to books, but I might look into that! Instead, I'll put on a Hallmark movie, or rewatch a DVD. That way I'm not too easily distracted from my crochet. Music, I love so many different genres. Kip Moore, and country, Wynonna, Ashley McBride, Tim + Faith, Garth + Trisha, blues, Keb Mo, Tony, Dean, Frank, rock, and jazz are my go to's.

    Thank you for a soothing, meditative pattern! Perfect for TV watching or waiting time at the doctor's office. I look forward to seeing how my fav ombré yarn works up.
    One thing about southern NM is that there's no being wimpy when it comes to rain during monsoon. Buckets. And I mean _buckets_ of the liquid started coming down yesterday just when I was trying to go through the drive thru. Nope. Opening the window was a bad idea. I backed up and parked while fire hoses from on high spewed for about 15 mins. Then it was done, and blue could be seen between the clouds. It hadn't rained a drop at my place 5 miles north while the roads where I'd been were now flooded and potentially dangerous. At least my car got a good wash, so that was nice. 😉

      Turn on closed captions, and click on the Settings (the gear icon). Choose Subtitles/CC and to the right of that there is a language option. Use that to select Auto-Translate, and then choose Spanish. RUclips will automatically translate the closed captions for you.
      It will auto translate the video and you can watch it with Spanish subtitles. I hope this helps. 💚

    Very nice pattern. The pearlescent fingering yarn is what makes this pattern so elegant. I have never used the ssc stitch. Very interesting stitch! It appears to create a straighter edge which is always a good thing. You are right, Chandi, about the calming affect when crocheting. You mentioned in the video that you like to listen to audio books. One of my personal favorite audio books author is Rys Bowan. If you are into mysteries in the genre of Agatha Christie, you would enjoy listening to the Her Royal Spyness series. It's a fun, tastefully spicy, mystery series involving Lady Georgiana who is 34th in line to the throne of England.

    Hi Chandi, I love your work. The pieces that you make are unique and elegant. I have bought this pattern, and I am a little confused about the direction on the following rows.
    Rows 55-154: Repeat Rows 5-54 2 more times. Rows 155-202: Repeat Rows 5-52 once more.
    What do you mean by repeat twice and once more?
    I understood that I had to repeat row 5 and row 54 until I reached row 154, starting with row 55, same as the next one.
    Can you clarify,y, please?
    Tank you

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  Год назад +1

      Hi Francesca, thank you for your message. I'm happy to help. I'm glad you're liking Pluie Calme so much!
      Regarding your question, this means that for Rows 55 to 104 you will repeat all the instruction for Rows 5 to 54 (not just repeating row 5 and 54 but all 50 rows) and then do it one more time for Rows 105 to 154, again repeating the instructions from Rows 5 to 54 (50 rows).
      Following, you will only work Rows 5 to 52 (48 rows) until you reach Row 202.
      I hope this makes sense and clarifies what you have to do.
      Please, let me know if you have any further questions! You can also reach out through our contact form (www.expressionfiberarts.com/contact-us/) for further assistance.

    Hi, I purchased the pearlescent yarn and I did find a US size C/3mm crochet hook. The hook I’m using appears definitely smaller than demonstrated in this video. Wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything. I started with the chain 13 and the chain + Hook is super super tiny.

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  Год назад +1

      As long as it's a 3mm hook, as called for in the pattern, and you can get gauge with it, you should be fine. I don't always use the yarn and hook that's called for in the pattern when I film these demos, so that may be causing a little confusion, too.

    Very pretty. Love it! I want the pattern and am willing to pay for it. Help me understand why you need my credit card information for the *free* pattern? If it costs zero there is no need to process my card.

      Hi Line, thank you for your comment. Are you purchasing the pattern through our website? You should not need to include your payment information when using the website even as a guest. It should skip this step if all the items in your card are free.
      Hope this helps!

    Can i use 4 weight yarn with this pattern?

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  Год назад

      Hi Lani,
      yes you can use Worsted weight (number 4 weight) yarn instead of Fingering (number 2 weight) yarn but you will most likely need more yarn. If you keep the same number of stitches you will get a shawl that is much wider. If you want the shawl to be the same width you will need to adjust the number of chains in the beginning. This design is based on a multiple of 4 + 4 if using Foundation Single Crochet (4+5 if you use a regular chain method).
      So make a swatch, check your gauge, and decide based on that with how many stitches you'd like to work with.
      I hope this makes sense and helps!
      Have a nice day! 🥰

    Can I just use double crochet instead of stacked single crochet?

    • @ExpressionFiberArts

      I'm guessing you can but it might change the look of the stitch pattern a bit.
      I hope it works out! 🤞

      Hi Elizabeth,
      For this sample we used a 3.00 mm hook.
      I hope that answered the question. Have a lovely day! ❤️

      Hi there, unfortunately we don't offer our patterns or tutorials in different languages but you can try this trick for youtube:
      Turn on closed captions, and click on the Settings (the gear icon). Choose Subtitles/CC and to the right of that there is a language option. Use that to select Auto-Translate, and then choose Spanish. RUclips will automatically translate the closed captions for you.
      Regarding the multiple for this pattern:
      If you use Foundation Single Crochet the multiple is 4 + 4. If you start with a chain you will need to chain 4 + 5.
      I hope this helps!
      Have a nice day! 🥰

    Just need clarity on the hook size. Pattern says US Size D / 3mm but all the US size D hooks in my area are 3.5mm 😭 I just want to follow how the pattern says so if anyone can help I would appreciate it ❤️😁

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  Год назад +1

      Hi Felicia, thank you for your comment. You're right an US size D hook is usually 3.25 mm. The mismatch might have happened since the sizes are not really unified everywhere in the world. With Pluie Calme being a wrap I can't imagine that gauge is super crucial but if you want to to make sure, you could make a swatch with your 3.25 mm hook and see where you end up with our dimensions.
      I hope this is helpful. Have a wonderful day! 💕
