These were popular here in Australia in the 70s and 80s. My family had a '77 2 door Coupe and later the 4 door model like this. The early Corollas were very dependable, and I saw lots of them up until the mid 2000s. I rarely see anything from the 70s anymore, or even the 80s.
Japan had just entered the industrial revolution and we're competing with a giant (USA). These car was a strip down copy of the camero for middle and lower class. Reason why they were dependable was because Japanese adopted this system of constant upgrade to make it even more better ideology.
I have the same one still in Macedonia. It actually says KE40 on the inside, and it does differ from the KE30 a little, especially in the front grill. Still kudos to you bro!
Such a nice one! :D In my opinion the whole Corolla series is completely underrated aspecialy in my region, what is Germany, as well Europe at all. There are soo many possible kinds of mods or swaps in each series but over the different ons too. Swapping a 4AGE Silvertop into an KE70? No problem! And the list will go on not only with the Corolla but other models to. Basically it´s the same as it is for the VW Golf or the VW/Audi Company at all. Many parts are compareable to most of the model range aspecially in older ones up to late 90s/early 00s models. And for sure it brings much more fun than the standard cars "everyone" has like BMWs, MBs or even VW/Audi. :p Only negative fact is it is hard to find older ones or even good basis here in Europe not even talking about parts at all...^^ But with good connections you can even solve those "problems". :)
I bought one of these brand new in 1976. It was a fun little ride.

Agree! I grew up in one of these. Looking at these 40 years on, its hard to imagine how we didnt get any breakdowns in these tin cans!
