who cares about opening laptops with 1 hand?? I cant stand that all tech youtubers think that that is some kind of feature I would rather have stiffer hinge instead. Ofc if u got 1 arm only then yes that would be great feature ;)
I don't care myself, and it's not really a feature, but more to give you an idea about the weight distribution of the laptop. If I have a laptop that is really heavy towards the back I'm probably not going to want to try and balance it on my legs (something I do often when using my laptop in a server room at work). I only started including it because someone asked about it :p not sure if I'll keep mentioning it in future or not.
I often open my laptop with only one hand. Keep it up. Keep thinking outside the box. We need more reviewers that think about the practicallity of using laptops and not just focus on the specs. Also, your black backlight bleed test is great.
Lmao I know right?? If a laptop has what I want, not being able to use one hand to open it is not going to be a deal breaker. Such a dumb critique and every reviewer does it. Now if we needed 3 hands to open it then I'd be concerned.
I bought this laptop a few weeks ago, its great, good cooling, screen and keyboard. Edit: if you have any questions about the laptop I'd be happy to answer them (I have the 15 inch model with a 1070)
After more than one year of owning this laptop I must say that it is hard to tell if it was a good decision to purchase this specific model. There are two major problems: The weak hinges and the keyboard. Both of my hinges broke (common problem with MSI laptops) and I needed to repair them with epoxy glue. The keyboard keys are very sensitive. If you press them too hard there is a chance that a key "breaks off" and it simply is impossible to put it back in. Some people in the MSI forum also reported these two problems. There are other minor problems but they're probably not worth mentioning. Nonetheless the performance and stability is great and I hope it won't change too soon. PS: It seems that MSI changed the hinge design on their newest models.
Yeah I've heard a few people mention issues with hinges after time, sucks to hear, unfortunately not really something I can pick up in a review where I only have the machine for a couple of weeks 😢 good to hear the performance is good though!
Bought this laptop couple days ago, blown away by the picture quality on the TN screen, much better than the IPS crap you get these days on other models that can't even produce decent quality. Don't take my word for it, go see for yourself and you will know what I mean.
I haven't tested the 8th gen ge73, but I have tested the 15 inch ge63 here: ruclips.net/video/h63-g61V568/видео.html From my testing it gets quite hot, in theory the 17 inch version is larger and may have more space for cooling, but in my experience testing two different MSI models with 15 and 17 inch versions it made no difference. If you compare the results with the Helios 500 in my review of that one here, it smashes it with its thicker heat pipes: ruclips.net/video/CqSNcl6ik9Q/видео.html
I im ok with the small battery because a lager one would mean that the laptop would be heavy af. But on the other side with the small battery you have to carry around the power supply which weights about 1kg
Yeah depends on your priorities I guess, personally I'd prefer a lighter laptop as I don't need much battery, I don't play games on battery myself so it lasts much longer, and I'm almost always near power anyway 😛
After 1 year of owning this laptop with almost completely identical specs I must say it still runs well. However mine came with only 8gb of ram (which i upgraded to 16 in no time). And a 3tb HDD instead of a SSD. Otherwise it's the same. My only issue is the HDD is starting to crap out already because Win 10 loves to destroy mechanical drives. Otherwise modern games are still ran at max settings with good fps (60+). I get fps spike drops because of my HDD so definitely getting a SSD soon.
Should I get the raider or the stealth pro? Even though the stealth pro is light af, I think it may have heat probs, but the raider looks more all around in providing it's specs
+Richard Don I haven't used a stealth yet personally so hard to say, hoping to change that in the future though. But yeah the raider seems pretty well rounded and should have less issues associated with thinner laptops such as cooling issues and lower battery
i bought mine today, i am so curious and excited, but also so afraid to make anything wrong. 20 years ago I built my Pcs alone and today I fear thee technics. Now I need Path of exile installed then I am happy. thumb up for your video
Just unboxed it and now looking for videos like yours to see if i made a good deal. Paid 1700 euros and all I want to play at it is Path of exile and diablo3. With my old 7 year old acer7750G I was happy a long time, when the graphic adapter starts to die, still it works good with onboard graphics, but the HD6850M gets worse. I was wondering a lot that the notebooks today hav no longer optical dvd all is replaced by usb and web. Bad for those who want to hear their old audio CDs or Video DVDs. But that is the future and noone asks today for a 5,25°floppy disc. ^^
Hi Jarrod! Will the GE73 8RE, with the i7-8750h and GTX 1060 Processors, be a good pick over TUF FX 705 Model of ASUS? I would really appreciate your answer. Thank you!
Does it have usb c video output so, can I use a usb c to DisplayPort cable to use a 144 hz 1080p or 144hz 1440p monitor?Or does it only work with Thunderbolt 3?
I'm not sure, but I don't think so, this page notes that you can run 2 external displays using HDMI and mini DisplayPort only: www.msi.com/Laptop/GE73VR-7RF-Raider.html
Hmm still not too bad, unfortunately I'm not able to test all different sections of the game, it's likely that there are parts of the game that are more intensive than others and require more resources. You could also squeeze out some extra performance if you remove any unused programs etc.
+MW2mostwanted hmm can't say for the gigabyte laptop, I've never had one for testing, but I include the volume levels in this video for this one. It's not too bad while gaming, but if you manually max out the fan it is very loud, although that probably won't happen unless you're running in a warm environment and fully loading the system for an extended period
Wonder if this is still a good buy used today? Found one in great condition for $800. The 1070 version with 512 nvme m.2. Worth it or fork out a little more for current tech?
They seem similar, however the GT62VR 6RE Dominator Pro uses an older 6th gen CPU, can have up to 64GB RAM, has a bigger battery, and weighs just a little more than the GE73VR 7RF Raider, which has a 7th generation Intel CPU and can support up to 32GB RAM. Realistically I don't think there's much difference between them, I did a video comparing the 6700HQ against the 7700HQ here and there isn't too much difference to worry about: ruclips.net/video/dcZIibVMGhc/видео.html
Yeah I've seen some info about it, hopefully I should have some 8th gen laptops for review soon, I won't at the initial release, but I can't wait to get some and do some comparison videos.
They need to start implementing better webcams in these laptops. Also I notice how out of sync the windows key is compared to the other keys in the rainbow wave mode
Yeah webcams always seem to be a low point, most have okish 720p ones, a couple I've tested have slightly better 1080p ones, but there are even brand new ones with 480p cameras that look so bad :/
Jarrod'sTech the 480p webcams are on the dirt cheap laptops. The only laptops I see with good webcams based on specs are the MSI GS43VR and most HP laptops. I'm unsure if Dell has them in their flagship gaming models
No G-Sync listed on the specs, so I assume not. I wouldn't say a higher refresh rate negates it, you'll still experience tearing, though perhaps it may be less noticeable as technically the screen is refreshing the image faster so you might not notice as much, I haven't really compared it so hard to say.
Hello i bought the same laptop but do you know the normal speed of fans cooling in the dragon center ? I have 2.400 Rpm i dont know if is normal when i dont play video games. Sometimes is noise
I haven't used that one so hard for me to say, but it looks pretty nice based on the specs! If you love both then which ever you pick you should be happy :D
Jarrod'sTech thanks for the reply! I actually ended up with something completely different, after all that, lol. I went for the Acer Aspire V Nitro in the end, because it does not look like a typical gaming laptop at all, which I'm very happy about!
You can customize the lighting of individual keys here, I just had it on one of the built in effects, I can't remember the name of it but you'll be able to use it with this laptop. Most RGB keyboards in laptops that I've seen only allow you to change keys in groups or zones, but this one allows for individual key changes which is why they can change independently of each other.
Jarrod how bad do you think your coil whine was? Was it around the lower left corner of the keyboard area? Mine is audible from a sitting distance when I'm gaming and unless I turn cooler boost on or use headphones, it gets quite irritating. Don't think I had that problem at the very beginning, only recently.
To be honest I really can't remember how it sounded when I tested this as it was close to a year ago now, sorry. From what I remember I don't think it was too terrible though.
To be honest I can't really recall the temps outside of what I included in the video as this is an older one. Unfortunately I didn't do quite as in depth temperature testing back then as I do now. I've got the newer 8th gen GE63 Raider at the moment though, so will be sure to cover it much better.
Its hard to choose between: ~MSI GE73VR 7RF-Raider (i7-7700HQ; GTX 1070) and ~MSI GP73 8RE-Leopard (i7-8750HQ; GTX 1060). Any advise which one i will buy for gaming laptop?..... Thanks
I haven't tested the 8th gen MSI laptop yet, hopefully I will in the future, but based on the specs for pure gaming the 1070 will give you better performance over the 1060 compared with going from 7700HQ to 8750H CPU, especially with the 120Hz screen that those laptops generally come with 1070 would help out in more games.
btw, i read in the other forums that this laptop (MSI laptops in general) has quality issue specifically with the hinges. The hinges were easily broken no matter how careful you are using the laptop. Did the MSI already addressed the hinge issue of their laptop?...thanks
I haven't tested it, but from my research it may be possible, as long as your external monitor supports G-Sync, as the 10 series card also supports it, so connecting over Mini DIsplayPort should allow G-Sync.
hello jarrod i have a question PLEASE HELP ! is it normal when i open nvidia control panel it only shows 3d settings. nothing aboud display or video settings neither. and i cant even change the framerate from 120 to 60hz. thank you very muuch for response :)
I've seen that before, have you tried reinstalling the Nvidia drivers? Do the clean install option to remove any old stuff. As for refresh rate of the panel , you should be able to change that through Windows. Just right click your desktop, go to display something.. I forget exactly what it's called, and I'm replying on a Mac lol. Then you can go to advanced display settings, and change the refresh rate there.
Jarrod'sTech yeah i tried reinstalling. but still the same. it wont show the other 2 options. also is the refresh rate not changeable. but the laptop is exactly the same. what should i do ?
Are you sure it has a 120Hz panel? I think it was available with both 60Hz and 120Hz options. You could use a program like HWInfo to get the exact model of the panel itself and then look up the specs of it to check, it should be listed under monitor name or something.
Jarrod'sTech yes its a 120hz panel im sure i know some stuff about notebooks. i cant change it to 60hz and the nvidia control panel shows only 3d settings. it has a intel hdg graphics tho. would be nice if u can help me from teamviewer or chat xD
I've never changed refresh rate through Nvidia control panel myself, I always just do it in the Windows settings, that's not an option? Not sure if it matters, maybe the Intel graphics can't run it at higher refresh rates, you could try disabling the Intel graphics in device manager to ensure the Nvidia graphics are in use.
Many people including me have issues with killer wi-fi adapter. It has horrible spikes therefore unuseable for gaming, it disconnects you from games all the time! If you know how to fix this please let me know I have searched like everywhere but no one provided working solution.
@@JarrodsTech No i have not, I have downloaded newest killer performance driver suite, but it shows error when I try to install. It says it requires windows 10.0.16299.15 or later. My windows version is 10.0.17763... So there is problem in their driver installer. On the web there are loads of people complaining about connection drops, just google "killer wireless 1435 issues" and you will find lots of threads including those on killer forums. Also there are videos on youtube saying it is better to swap killer for intel card. Many people already did it.
Hi Jarrod, first of all nice video, very well presented. Last WE I was almost buying this laptop from HN at AUD$ 2800 taking up their 20% discount opportunity. I had it in my hands, walking toward the cashier to pay when suddenly I realized that this laptop hasn't the G-Sync technology and I gave up the purchase. I was also very tempted from the ASUS ROG Strix GL702vs but I read a lot of negative feedback regarding the cooling system that really worried me. For me It's imperative that a gaming laptop would not heat up too much! So getting back to the MSI, could you (or anybody that owns it) confirm that it doesn't have the G-Sync technology? I know that a TN panel has a better timing response but I would like that a $3k laptop is not tied up to the video timing frame. I do understand that it's a 120Hz panel but...why put limits on the GTX1070 features? Hope I've been clear and haven't stuffed up what I meant ;)
Which version of the GS73? I'm assuming GS73VR 7RF, as I've tested with the 7RF Raider here. From what I can tell, the stealth is thinner and weighs a little less, but it also has a 1060 rather than a 1070 and doesn't have a 120Hz screen, so the main difference seems to be in the graphics power. The 1060 is a great option for most modern games at high settings 60 FPS, so if that's fine for you it should be fine, but if you want more the Raider is where you'd look.
Thanks for the prompt reply! actually the one I was lookin at is MSI GS73VR STEALTH PRO-060 (i7-7700HQ, 16GB RAM, 256GB SATA SSD + 2TB HDD, NVIDIA GTX 1070 8GB, 17.3" Full HD 120Hz 5ms, Windows 10) VR Ready its almost the same price as the laptop in this video. besides size i dont know what else is different
Oh right, assuming similar prices and battery sizes, I'd probably be looking at the thinner/lighter option myself, although that could also impact cooling, so you'd need to check tests of the GS73VR to see how well it does in that area.
Hi Jarrod how you doing what you think about MSI GT80 2QE Here the spec: I7-4980HQ UP TO 4.0 Ghz Nvidia 2x 980M SLI /8GB DDR5 (16GB DDR5) 256 GB SSD 1TB 7200RPM 24GB DDR 3L RAM is it a good deal for 1300$ ?
Hey good thanks :) I haven't personally tested that laptop so I'll only be going purely off the specs, I think that seems like a pretty good deal overall, the CPU is fairly good, and 2 980m's should still be pretty decent.
I am loving that keyboard! I have an Apache Pro but the keys are not RGB per Key. But still a great laptop to game on. Nice Review for this laptop, Jarrod!
Thanks! Although RGB per key is cool I never really found myself customizing them individually, so the usual 3-4 zone colouring is good enough for me :)
@@robinrousseau1087 still works even after 5 yrs of use. Mine is still alive. However, i loosened the hinges coz they tend to get sticky and you’re unable to open it without force
No G-Sync in this particular model I believe, however if you're asking in general if G-Sync is worthwhile then I have made a video on the topic here: ruclips.net/video/8anpcZMYoBU/видео.html
PUBG has been updated quite a lot since I made this video, so for that particular game I wouldn't really rely on those results anymore. This was well before even v1.0 came out, although I'd have thought it would be better now, assuming they actually put in optimizations.
Hmm I didn't test at anything under around 50%, you'd definitely get a bit extra as the screen is a major power drainer, but I wouldn't guess it would be any more than about half an hour or so, again that is just a guess, I have not actually tested and no longer have the laptop available for further testing unfortunately.
Jarrod'sTech coz im planning to buy a gaming laptop this December as a gift for myself. Im thorn between this msi raider and asus gl503 scar. So hard to decide
I didn't notice a specific program installed in Windows that allowed this, these seem to be the required steps to upgrade it: service.msicomputer.com/msi_user/support/techfaqdetail.aspx?formid=3195
Hi, I have a doubt,I want to buy: MSI Raider GE73VR 7RF-258XES - Ordenador portátil de 17.3" FHD (Kabylake i7-7700HQ, RAM de 16 GB DDR4, HDD de 1 TB y SSD de 512 GB, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. I'm a player of blakc desert online, what would be the temperature in 5 hours of play in maximum graphics?
Couldn't tell you sorry, I've never played that game, and no longer have the laptop to try further testing. When I tested the maximum temps I had the CPU and GPU at 100% load, so that's worst case temps. Usually while gaming both won't be 100% in use, so in theory it could be a little cooler than the worst case levels I've shown here.
Thank you at the end buy this: MSI Titan 7RE-871XES - Ordenador portátil de 17.3" FHD (Kabylake i7-7700HQ, RAM de 16 GB DDR4, HDD de 1 TB y SSD de 256 GB, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070- 8 GB, it's the same with better cooling :D
Hello i bought this laptop. I'm having a fps issue and low GPU usage. It doesn't hit more than 55 degrees. In Cs:Go i can't get more than 150 fps and there is so much fps drops. There is no fps lock , vsync is off . Need some help ! ^^
Gsync on or off? Are you running on battery power or plugged in? Have you tried undervolting? Latest drivers installed? Did this start happening recently or was it always the case? Is this the only game it happens in?
There is no Gsync its 120 Hz screen. I always run on plugged in. I didn`t try undervolting cause the issue is not heat. Its always maximum 55-60 degrees because its not even using the Nvidia card at all (%30-%60). I tried oldest ones and latest ones still same . I bought this laptop last month and I realised that just today cause I couldn`t have a chance to play games. No this happens in every games. With MSI Kombustor i made some benchmark tests and the results are very good.
Undervolting doesn't just help if you're running too hot, if the CPU is power limit throttling you can get more performance out of it, although this is more of an issue with the 8th gen CPUs than the 7th gen (assuming you're running 7th gen like the laptop in the video). I've seen something weird like that happened before due to a power plan that was created by the vendor's software, after I made my own in Windows I was able to get full performance, probably not the issue but could be worth a try, I guess failing everything last chance you could try reset Windows to rule out any software issues.
It should, it has higher clock speeds, although it will probably not be that much given most games rely on the graphics more, and also depends on how well it does at controlling temperatures with the higher powered CPU, but yes in general I'd expect it to be a bit better. Trying to get the 8th gen one for review, been waiting for MSI to have one for me for a few weeks so hopefully not too much longer now.
Jarrod'sTech.. i want a gaming laptop with gtx 1070.. will u suggest which one should i buy.. alienware 17 (7th gen i7 with gtx 1070) or msi ge 73 raider (8th gen i7 with gtx 1070). i want more fps..
Both will probably perform similarly, although I suspect the MSI will be a bit cheaper, hard to go into detail as I haven't tested either one myself yet, hoping to get them in the future though!
Great video I bouht this laptop a couple weaks ago and not satisfied honestly. Tried BF1 on SP 75 - 90 fps on ultra On MP can not reach 60 fps on ultra, on high 60-70 Gpu usage always low 40 to 70% All drivers up to date. Why is this happening cause all reviews got higher fps. Gta V : 40 to 65 FPS very high settings Rainbow 6 : 70 to 95 fps. Any ideas about this problem and how to fix it?
The only thing I can really think of is overheating? What temperatures are the CPU/GPU running at while this is happening? You mentioned GPU usage, how much CPU is in use?
Jarrod'sTech Cpu temp 78 - 82 degrees (75 with cooler boost) Gpu temp 65 - 75 degrees Cpu usage 60 up to 75% Also tried reinstalling Windows and nothing changed. BF1 on DX12 : 30 to 40 fps
Hmm probably not overheating then, those temps sound fine. Perhaps the differences in frame rate are simply due to different parts of the game being tested? When I tested BF1 I was doing the first mission, it is likely that others are more resource intensive and may require more resources, unfortunately I can't easily get an average for the whole game so it's hard to get a result that accurately represents all cases of game play. Although that doesn't explain the low CPU/GPU usage, even if it was just that you were playing more intensive areas I'd expect more resources to be used, that is really strange and I'm not yet sure what that could be.. If you suspect a hardware issue I'd suggest getting in contact with support!
Jarrod.....?i was looking for a gaming laptop which have a 256gb ssd and 1tb hdd with multidrive and rgb 3 setting keyboard backlight.....can u help me in the case that in the msi company which will be the better system for my interesting feature......can u help me figure it out.......
I have a review of the 7th gen version, still waiting on MSI to have the 8th gen version available for review unfortunately, hopefully I'll have a video in a few weeks of it.
I've got the problem that my GE73VR has a cpu usage of 100% in idle and is pretty loud. I don't have anything on it, at first I thought it's because I was updating Windows, but even after the update it had 100% cpu usage and was loud, I don't know what to do, can anyone help me?
That's pretty wierd if no processes are using it, did it start after the windows update? If so I'd try and uninstall the most recent updates and see if that helps, could be a bug
+Smash-ter I don't remember it being much of an issue, there was AV and a couple of MSI specific programs for modifying keyboard colours / overclocking and monitoring etc. can always remove what you don't need, or just do a clean windows install
Very loud...My Sony Vaio from 2008-2009 (forgot when I bought it exactly) is like a freakin helicopter compared to the noise generated by this thing here. Btw I'm surprised at the low FPS with Doom (compared to what I've seen on similar machines where its hits almost 200 FPS). Btw always read the full description of the notebook in the shop you buy it from. The configuration that you can find on the official website of MSI may slightly defer (mostly in terms of persistent storage - for example missing M.2 drives - and RAM - usually less).
I was using OpenGL rather than Vulkan so that might explain the FPS difference, much easier to benchmark with the tools I use using OpenGL. Yeah there are a few different versions of the GE73VR too which makes it even more confusing.
In what game? This video is fairly old now, so things such as game updates / driver updates will have happened, plus if it's a game that doesn't have a built in benchmark the results will vary based on where abouts in the game you're testing and what you're doing.
Yeah PUBG isn't very optimized, lots of people have problems with it and that's probably the most difficult game to benchmark as it depends on what other people on the map are doing.
I need help for chossing my gaming laptop! What's better between : - MSI ge63vr raider 8rf New Geforce 1060 i7 8750H 15.6 - MSI ge73vr raider 7rf Refurbished Geforce 1070 i7-7700hq 17.3 I will use it mostly for gaming and working...
Purely for gaming the 1070 even with older CPU will perform better than the 1060 with newer CPU, so depends how much gaming power you want. Realistically I think the 1060 is still a good choice for 1080p 60 FPS gaming at high settings in modern games, and even higher if you have a higher refresh rate panel in less demanding games like Overwatch. Also depends on what your work is and whether that would benefit from the extra CPU cores, for instance I do video rendering so the extra cores would help a lot and I'd take them over the better gaming performance that I don't really need.
------------------- *upgrade* I am still hesitating between two models of the msi ge series. Is it worth it to go for the msi ge73vr 8rf raider GTX 1070 (2399 $CAN) instead of the msi ge73vr 7rf raider GTX 1070 (2139$CAN)
@@charles-antoinechevalier5723 go for the 8rf, why buy the older version? When ever I'm going to buy a laptop ,I will go for the best one cuz I use laptops for a long time. My laptop I use right now is 6 years old😊
seeing the benchmark result, its fairly powerful laptop. indeed. small mark maybe, the keyboard, i wish that there will be changing position for windows key, right to left. and for that, to change the bottom "\" keys and move the space key a little bit to right side (or shorten it) to accommodate the windows key to the normal left side. well yeah, maybe that will change the whole keyboard and the position of the touchpad. *LOL anyway, great review there! (y)
Hard for me to say as I haven't tested any Alienware laptops out, hopefully that should change in the future as I may be getting one to review! That said, on paper the Alienware can have similar specs, although it costs quite a bit to get the 1070 version, so you'd need to compare prices at the same spec levels then decide which you'd prefer.
I need a laptop that is powerful enough for architecture software and gaming. Im thinking of Gs73vr 7rf stealth with 32gb ram, gtx1060 and 4k display and this laptop. Which would be better? I take my laptop out quite often.
+송준현 which would be better out of what? Personally id probably look at a 1070 for a 4k display, or 1080p with a 1060, although I wouldn't go 4k on a laptop for other reasons
Jarrod'sTech my only options are msi stealth pro 4k and msi raider (one in the video). I like the gtx1070 of raider but on the other hand u have ips display for msi stealth..
Ah right, depends if you need the IPS I guess :) if not I'd get the better GPU and 1080p, otherwise if IPS is a requirement then go for the other one, 1060 is still decent, and you can run it at 1080p for games etc.
Thanks..BTW are you sure the fps given in the video for battlefield 1 are correct since the omen x(GTX 1080+i7820) gaming fps on ultra settings gives only 111
Yes, just keep in mind that the frame rate will vary throughout the game, so my results are not a one size fits all result by any means. My testing is basically all done during the fighting on the first mission in the game, it's likely that other parts of the game are more intense and will not run as well.
I had an issue with this laptop that i was getting low FPS with all the games atleast not the FPS that this laptop deserves. Anyway, i found out that it was on a single channel RAM 16 GB, i had to buy another stick for 200$ to get the right FPS.
The 7th gen model? That sounds hot for a 7700HQ. This is an older video though and I did a crap job compared to my newer stuff where I test thermals in far more depth so it's hard for me to answer, but generally I have found the GE63/GE73 to run hot. Depends if you're throttling, then you're losing performance. Look into CPU undervolting, might help, here's a guide: ruclips.net/video/yNt9L3BWOFo/видео.html
+Adam Piątek p950hp is quite a bit cheaper with a 1060 which will be great for the 60hz 1080p screen, I think the rs-g has been replaced with the newer hs-g, which costs $400 more and still only has 60hz screen, extra $200 to get 120hz which is where I think the 1070 really shines. That said if you can afford 1070 it will likely give you more longevity out of the laptop, although 1060 is good sweet spot now and 1070 a little overkill in comparison for 1080p 60 fps gaming, the 1070 would probably allow you to play more things years from now.
Jarrod'sTech thanks very much for your reply. Which of of these with 1070 will have better cooling. I can choose between 950 and 650 model with 1070 or 1060. But I think that 950 is thinner so temps gonna be higher than 650.
You should be able to, it's got two M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 slots. So the SSD in the model I have is only SATA3 M.2 but you can upgrade that and there is a second slot.
The MSI GE73VR Raider has dual M.2 PCI-E Gen 3.0 x4 SSD's utilizing NVMe technology. They can take either the SATA or NVMe versions of the M.2 SSDs. Link for reference; www.msi.com/Laptop/GE73VR-7RF-Raider.html
There was a fair bit of space between the keys, and the keys felt tactile, basically if you've used a laptop with a steel series keyboard it's the same :)
Han Jones I have been using a MSI GT70 Dominator since 2010. Just upgraded to the MSI GE73VR Raider Pro S1 Gaming Laptop (basically the laptop in this video, but with 2TB SSD M.2 and 2TB SSHD 7200 HD, 32GB 2400 DDR4 Corsair ram). The older MSI Steelseries keyboards have a very nice "clicky" tactile, almost mechanical feel to them. The new keyboard is almost the same, just a little bit more squish when you bottom out the keys. I am extremely satisfied with the way the keys preform... to the point I get frustrated and irritated when I have to use a different keyboard on another laptop. Outside of a full mechanical keyboard, the Steelseries keyboards on the MSI Laptops are some of the best if not the best out there.
+Master Chris there were a few MSI specific apps eg for managing the keyboard lighting, the only undesirable program for me was Norton but you can always uninstall :)
Jarrod'sTech Thanks for the answer. I'm considering buying this laptop since it's on sale due to BF right now. But MSI is known for bloatware, so that's the reason why I asked.
Depends on the games you play and the settings you want to use, however I think the 1070 is a great option for a 120Hz 1080p screen, even modern games at high settings will take advantage of the higher refresh rate panel. I suppose the 1080 would give you more longevity out of the laptop though, hard to say how much longer you'll be able to use it for as again it depends what you'll use it for, and it depends how new games etc run in the future, really difficult to predict, so when it comes down to it you'd have to decide if paying more for the 1080 is worth it for potentially being able to use it for another year or two compared to the alternative.
Jarrod'sTech thanks for the answer, but the problem is that in my country, the msi ge73vr with 1070 comes with 8gb ram, i cant find one with 16 gb ram..
Hmm, depending on how easy it is to access you could possibly upgrade it yourself in the future? 8gb is alright for gaming from what I've found, although some games like watchdogs 2 at ultra run pretty poorly I've found, 16gb is definitely a great sweet spot.
Jarrod'sTech yes i can upload it myself, but do you know if it comes with 2 slots of 4 gb or 1 slot of 8gb ? Because i need to know to upgrade it myself
I didn't actually open the laptop up myself to check, however it sounds like it's got 2 slots and can take 2x 16gb sticks maximum: www.mrmemory.co.uk/memory-ram-upgrades/msi-micro-star/notebook/ge73vr-7rf-raider
hey there jarrod my friend ask me if this laptop with gtx 1060 still worth it this 2020-21.. and i cant answer him so i come here to ask you 😅.. he is doing programming, photo/video editing and gaming. he ask cause he found it around $800. thanks in advance
It's ok, 1060 is alright, little old these days, like 3-4 years? $800 sounds fair though, for that money you'd probably be looking at a 1650 laptop with i5 quad core.
@@JarrodsTech mostly core i5 with 1650 cost around $1200 more/less here in our country :(.. but i also found one the lenovo L340-15IRH the same price as this one and also use. so this the better deal? edit: both laptops are already 2nd hand 😅
At full maximum fan settings it was probably one of the loudest laptops I've tested. While playing all my games it was loud but not as bad as manually maxing out the fans, it never needed that in my testing with my room temp.
G. Chady I ended up getting the 1070. In terms of most games it does not make a difference. They all worth the price so if you have enough money go for 1080. Otherwise 1070 fits your budget and works well
Kim Zhao ok bro, but the ge73vr is too much big, i really like the one with 1070, and with the one with 1080, we need a 4k screen to play in 4k is it worth it ?
G. Chady the size of ge73 is acceptable compared to gt73 or Alienware 17. If you want portability gs73 is a good model with decent cooling. However I think 4K is not worth on laptop and competitive gaming. Laptop 1070 is not powerful enough to support 4K at high frame rates. Laptop 1080, maybe? But not on higher settings.
who cares about opening laptops with 1 hand??
I cant stand that all tech youtubers think that that is some kind of feature
I would rather have stiffer hinge instead.
Ofc if u got 1 arm only then yes that would be great feature ;)
agree
I don't care myself, and it's not really a feature, but more to give you an idea about the weight distribution of the laptop. If I have a laptop that is really heavy towards the back I'm probably not going to want to try and balance it on my legs (something I do often when using my laptop in a server room at work). I only started including it because someone asked about it :p not sure if I'll keep mentioning it in future or not.
IDK, it's not a feature, but it can be very convenient. Chill bro lol
Edit: if you have any questions about the laptop I'd be happy to answer them (I have the 15 inch model with a 1070)
Nice! I agree :)
Buying one in a week. Found it on Amazon with a 1tb nvme drive (no raid), the 1 tb HDD, 32gb ram for $2500
Reuben Trevena how can i download dribers for thia lap any software??
Reuben Trevena How are fans voices when you play in ultra settings ?
You can find drivers for it here: www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GE73VR-7RF-Raider#down-driver
I bought this laptop last year and i absolutely love it.
Good to hear! It's a good one 👍
SOLD! Thanks for the testing of fps 😀
No problem! Hope you like it :)
i do like how you put all the details in the video
Thanks!
I'm looking at this in 2021 for a budget laptop for entry level VR .would this be suitable thanks.
Have the Ge73r 7rf Raider, gtx 1070 and if you want an msi gaming Laptop buy it
+SkRiLLaX_95 thanks for sharing your experience!
SkRiLLaX_95 is the cooling good
ATARLI OYUNCU You can choose between some cooling profiles. And with the Coolerboost 5 option the laptop is cooled down very fast.
Pascal Pluth thanks
Do you know if the screen is 120mhz or 60mhz? I think TN is worse than ips.
Bought this laptop couple days ago, blown away by the picture quality on the TN screen, much better than the IPS crap you get these days on other models that can't even produce decent quality. Don't take my word for it, go see for yourself and you will know what I mean.
Yeah TN has come along way, I think I mentioned in this one that it was IPS by mistake because it was so good.
Thanks for review. Im gonna buy it.
+devid karapetyan no problem, hope you like it!

Would love to see a review on the new GE75 8RF ;) Thanks for everything that you're doing for the community, Jarrod!
Cheers! Still trying to get the GE75 from MSI, hopefully not too far away 👍
MSI GE73 8RF (i7-8750H 1070) or Helios 500? Torn :(
I haven't tested the 8th gen ge73, but I have tested the 15 inch ge63 here: ruclips.net/video/h63-g61V568/видео.html
From my testing it gets quite hot, in theory the 17 inch version is larger and may have more space for cooling, but in my experience testing two different MSI models with 15 and 17 inch versions it made no difference. If you compare the results with the Helios 500 in my review of that one here, it smashes it with its thicker heat pipes: ruclips.net/video/CqSNcl6ik9Q/видео.html
Thanks a lot mate. Now I know exactly what to buy.
+Armin Afshar no problem!
great review, all the concern that i want to hear
Cheers!
Got this laptop for around 700€ including msi bag and some related accessories. Is this a decent deal?
yes it was.
Subscribed! Love your videos man. They are very detailed n it's helping me in deciding what to get.
Thanks!
Great video man!
Belled you already, just after 2 videos.
Your content is impressive.
I hope you grow very big on yt.
Cheers 😃 with support like that I'm sure we'll get there!
Good to hear it's held up well!
thanks for at least one rts fps test (ashes...) i ever saw in one review/test. yes, we rts guys are still alive, arent we :)
No problem! I think you're the first person that's mentioned it so good to know it wasn't time wasted :D
Would be nice If you could also do some GPU overclocking and compare it to stock.
Pascal GPUs are great at that.
I'll try to include it in future videos! I didn't manually overclock so it was just boosting automatically during testing.
i bought mine today, i am so curious and excited, but also so afraid to make anything wrong. 20 years ago I built my Pcs alone and today I fear thee technics. Now I need Path of exile installed then I am happy. thumb up for your video
Thanks! I hope you like the new laptop 😁
It should be more than capable of playing those games no problem!
Can you review the New Asus scar edition gl503vm ( 15,6 inch and gtx 1070 )
I'll see if I can arrange that!
Hi Jarrod! Will the GE73 8RE, with the i7-8750h and GTX 1060 Processors, be a good pick over TUF FX 705 Model of ASUS? I would really appreciate your answer. Thank you!
Good video jarodd 😀😀
Thanks!
I only get around 60fps in battlefield 1 with my settings ultra and everything same as yours. I also have Nvidia updates and all that other stuff
Hmm still not too bad, unfortunately I'm not able to test all different sections of the game, it's likely that there are parts of the game that are more intensive than others and require more resources. You could also squeeze out some extra performance if you remove any unused programs etc.
This or gigabyte aero 15x, how loud is this while gaming? I hate loud fan noise while gaming
Did you find out if it was a good buy . I'm looking at one just now for a fair price
@@kennyk4134 Hey sorry for the late reply. Yeah i ended up getting it. Totally worth it imo, more than capable for me.
@@SoloStyles you replied in the end all good .I think I might just get one now thanks for letting me know.
i have a question. whats the performance if we play it outdoor in canada. like minus 20 degrees celcius? :)
Haha, probably not much difference with this model, but I did have some thermal throttling with the 8th gen ge63 so might help out there 😎❄️
Excuse me Jarrod's Tech but I am little confused between MSI GE73VR 7RF Raider and MSI GT62VR Dominator Pro? Please help me for best choice
Pre-ordered the 8th Gen.. Can't wait!
Nice! Let me know how it goes 😃 I'm trying to get my hands on some for review.
Jarrod'sTech Sure I will. It would be awesome if you did a review on it. Btw the 8th Gen specs are released.
Yeah I've seen some info about it, hopefully I should have some 8th gen laptops for review soon, I won't at the initial release, but I can't wait to get some and do some comparison videos.
Jarrod'sTech me too.. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
How are the temps? i've ordered one too, I'm wondering if i should undervolt it straight way and get a cooling pad on top of that.
u deserve more subscribers
Thanks! Hopefully we'll get there one day :)
Does this have gsync? Does 120HZ negate the need for gsync if it doesn't have it? Thanks!
No G-Sync listed on the specs, so I assume not. I wouldn't say a higher refresh rate negates it, you'll still experience tearing, though perhaps it may be less noticeable as technically the screen is refreshing the image faster so you might not notice as much, I haven't really compared it so hard to say.
My friend selling the gtx 1060 version for 800 USD is it worth it?
Hmm, probably not. You can get newer machines that will rival 1060 performance for that price.
Jarrod'sTech :( i already purchased it btw this is the specs,
i7-7th gen (8 core)
16gb ram
Gtx1060
Display is 120hz
Hello i bought the same laptop but do you know the normal speed of fans cooling in the dragon center ? I have 2.400 Rpm i dont know if is normal when i dont play video games. Sometimes is noise
I didn't measure the RPM so cannot say, sorry.
Thanks ans just it is normal if this laptop make always noise when i am playing ? For the cooler
1:58 is your mass up that TN
What?
Even after watching your review I'm still conflicted..dunno whether to go for this or Asus ROG Strix GL502VS. Ahhh I honestly love both laptops, lol
Great to hear! I'm hopefully trying to get my hands on some Acer laptops in the near future for review, I've had a lot of people talking about them!
@@JarrodsTech tell them to get the one with the lowing price.
What are the differences between RE, RD and RF models
Does anyone know what RGB customization he has on his keybaord in this video, and how to create it/ where to find it? cus i just gotta say holy god.
Dual monitor compatible?
Jarod I have a question do you prefer msi than rog in terms of strong performance and good cooling please reply
I'd rate them both around equal, honestly depends on the specific model but I don't really think of one as better than the other overall.
From what I remember I don't think it was too terrible though.
whats the temps after a couple of hours of player sorry about commenting too much im just tryin to find a good gamig laptop
To be honest I can't really recall the temps outside of what I included in the video as this is an older one. Unfortunately I didn't do quite as in depth temperature testing back then as I do now. I've got the newer 8th gen GE63 Raider at the moment though, so will be sure to cover it much better.
Its hard to choose between:
~MSI GE73VR 7RF-Raider (i7-7700HQ; GTX 1070) and
~MSI GP73 8RE-Leopard (i7-8750HQ; GTX 1060).
Jarrod'sTech thanks for the advise bro..it really helps me on choosing the gaming laptop that i need
No problem!
btw, i read in the other forums that this laptop (MSI laptops in general) has quality issue specifically with the hinges. The hinges were easily broken no matter how careful you are using the laptop. Did the MSI already addressed the hinge issue of their laptop?...thanks
can we add an extern battery to upgrade the autonomy ?
I'm honestly not sure whether the battery is removable, sorry.
do you know if external screen will be possible to use gsync ?
I haven't tested it, but from my research it may be possible, as long as your external monitor supports G-Sync, as the 10 series card also supports it, so connecting over Mini DIsplayPort should allow G-Sync.
I am confused between this and the asus scar model which also sports a 120Hz screen but with GTX 1060..what do u think I should get?
Hard for me to say as I haven't used the scar yet, I'm hoping to get it in the near future to review :)
Jarrod'sTech Thanks Jarrod..I ll be waiting for the scar s review
Awesome, great video again Jarrod:) Can I link it to the GE73 on our website for sale?
Thanks mate! Sure go for it :)
hello jarrod i have a question PLEASE HELP !
is it normal when i open nvidia control panel it only shows 3d settings.
nothing aboud display or video settings neither.
and i cant even change the framerate from 120 to 60hz.
thank you very muuch for response :)
Im really satisfied with this vid .... subscribe 😊😊😊😊
Great to hear :)
Many people including me have issues with killer wi-fi adapter. It has horrible spikes therefore unuseable for gaming, it disconnects you from games all the time! If you know how to fix this please let me know I have searched like everywhere but no one provided working solution.
Are you using the latest drivers? Haven't heard of the issue myself otherwise.
Hi Jarrod,
first of all nice video, very well presented.
Thanks! Yeah no G-sync here unfortunately :( hope you find the right laptop for you!
how would you rate this against the GS73 stealth pro with the i7700 GTx1070?
Thanks again for the reply and advice! Subbed
No problem!
Hi Jarrod
how you doing
what you think about MSI GT80 2QE
Here the spec:
I7-4980HQ UP TO 4.0 Ghz
Nvidia 2x 980M SLI /8GB DDR5 (16GB DDR5)
256 GB SSD
1TB 7200RPM
24GB DDR 3L RAM
is it a good deal for 1300$ ?
Hey good thanks :) I haven't personally tested that laptop so I'll only be going purely off the specs, I think that seems like a pretty good deal overall, the CPU is fairly good, and 2 980m's should still be pretty decent.
I am loving that keyboard! I have an Apache Pro but the keys are not RGB per Key. But still a great laptop to game on. Nice Review for this laptop, Jarrod!
Thanks! Although RGB per key is cool I never really found myself customizing them individually, so the usual 3-4 zone colouring is good enough for me :)
I'd probably highlight essential keys when playing COD.
Yeah I could see that being useful!
i have the same one as you and no problems with it at all. this after 5 years of use.
@@robinrousseau1087 still works even after 5 yrs of use. Mine is still alive. However, i loosened the hinges coz they tend to get sticky and you’re unable to open it without force
Hi i searched a Gaming laptop and found this laptop and your video and i have a question have this laptop
G-Sync or not ?
No G-Sync in this particular model I believe, however if you're asking in general if G-Sync is worthwhile then I have made a video on the topic here: ruclips.net/video/8anpcZMYoBU/видео.html
No G-Sync :(
i didnt get that much fps on low settings at pubg and i have a issue my gpu usage is around 50-65
PUBG has been updated quite a lot since I made this video, so for that particular game I wouldn't really rely on those results anymore. This was well before even v1.0 came out, although I'd have thought it would be better now, assuming they actually put in optimizations.
How many hours can you get if you are only using 20 percent brightness for normal use?
Or even lower than 20
Hmm I didn't test at anything under around 50%, you'd definitely get a bit extra as the screen is a major power drainer, but I wouldn't guess it would be any more than about half an hour or so, again that is just a guess, I have not actually tested and no longer have the laptop available for further testing unfortunately.

Couldn't tell you sorry, I've never played that game, and no longer have the laptop to try further testing. When I tested the maximum temps I had the CPU and GPU at 100% load, so that's worst case temps. Usually while gaming both won't be 100% in use, so in theory it could be a little cooler than the worst case levels I've shown here.
they recommend it to me? I'm great gaming, recommend me one pliz.
I think this laptop is fairly good for gaming, the 7700HQ / 1070 with 120Hz screen is a good combination.
Thank you at the end buy this: MSI Titan 7RE-871XES - Ordenador portátil de 17.3" FHD (Kabylake i7-7700HQ, RAM de 16 GB DDR4, HDD de 1 TB y SSD de 256 GB, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070- 8 GB, it's the same with better cooling :D
Nice! Hope you like it :D
is it a TN or IPS panel? i couldn't find any IPS of this model on their website :( please spare me a link if i missed it
It's a TN panel, sorry for the confusion! It does look much better than any other TN I've tested before though.
All good, and great video 👍😁
Thanks!
You can switch the windows key to the left in the BIOS.
Yes I've since been informed many times 😛
Hi, will there be review of the newer 8RF version any time soon?
Yes, but probably a few weeks away still, I've been asking about it and was told hopefully some time in late May.
If i buy the 8th gen i7 with gtx 1070, will the performance increase..?
Sonu Nath the msi one has better cooling
Great video
I bouht this laptop a couple weaks ago and not satisfied honestly.
Tried BF1 on SP 75 - 90 fps on ultra
On MP can not reach 60 fps on ultra, on high 60-70
Gpu usage always low 40 to 70%
All drivers up to date.
Why is this happening cause all reviews got higher fps.
Gta V : 40 to 65 FPS very high settings
Rainbow 6 : 70 to 95 fps.
Any ideas about this problem and how to fix it?
The only thing I can really think of is overheating? What temperatures are the CPU/GPU running at while this is happening? You mentioned GPU usage, how much CPU is in use?
Jarrod'sTech
Cpu temp 78 - 82 degrees (75 with cooler boost)
Gpu temp 65 - 75 degrees
Cpu usage 60 up to 75%
Also tried reinstalling Windows and nothing changed.
Could you fix your problem?
Do you play plugged in? You make sure the settings in game rendering at native 1920x1080 resolution and not 2x or 3x the resolution?
Jarrod.....?i was looking for a gaming laptop which have a 256gb ssd and 1tb hdd with multidrive and rgb 3 setting keyboard backlight.....can u help me in the case that in the msi company which will be the better system for my interesting feature......can u help me figure it out.......
Have you looked at the GE63 8RF RGB?
Jarrod'sTech can u give me a small review about it please.......is it available @newegg.com site?
I have a review of the 7th gen version, still waiting on MSI to have the 8th gen version available for review unfortunately, hopefully I'll have a video in a few weeks of it.
Jarrod'sTech ok then...... I will wait for that......
This has 5ms response time but what about GE63VR having 3ms response time , will it be noticeable ???
Personally I've not tested lower than 5ms, but I'm not sure I'm sensitive enough to notice the difference, it's mostly for competitive FPS players.
Jarrod'sTech thanks !!!
This screen is also 3ms now on machines built after 21 Oct
I've got the problem that my GE73VR has a cpu usage of 100% in idle and is pretty loud. I don't have anything on it, at first I thought it's because I was updating Windows, but even after the update it had 100% cpu usage and was loud, I don't know what to do, can anyone help me?
That's pretty wierd if no processes are using it, did it start after the windows update? If so I'd try and uninstall the most recent updates and see if that helps, could be a bug
How much bloatware was in the laptop
Yeah there are a few different versions of the GE73VR too which makes it even more confusing.
whats better this laptop or asus ror scar edition also 1070
I've compared the 15 inch version of this with the scar in my most recent video, basically I preferred the scar
Jarrod'sTech thxs i gonna buy it soon i think
No problem! Hope you like it 😃
Hi , I have the same laptop I dint get that much FPS in very low settigns. Can you help me ?
In what game? This video is fairly old now, so things such as game updates / driver updates will have happened, plus if it's a game that doesn't have a built in benchmark the results will vary based on where abouts in the game you're testing and what you're doing.
Jarrod'sTech Only in PUBG cant get good FPS even in low settings but other games I am having +100 FPS in ultra settings.
Yeah PUBG isn't very optimized, lots of people have problems with it and that's probably the most difficult game to benchmark as it depends on what other people on the map are doing.
I need help for chossing my gaming laptop!
What's better between :
- MSI ge63vr raider 8rf
New
Geforce 1060
i7 8750H
15.6
- MSI ge73vr raider 7rf
Refurbished
Geforce 1070
i7-7700hq
17.3
I will use it mostly for gaming and working...

*upgrade*
I am still hesitating between two models of the msi ge series.
*LOL
anyway, great review there! (y)
Thanks! I think you can actually change the Windows key in the software, at least I noticed that on other MSI laptops but didn't check with this one.
Should I get this or the Alienware 17 r4 ??
Hard for me to say as I haven't tested any Alienware laptops out, hopefully that should change in the future as I may be getting one to review! That said, on paper the Alienware can have similar specs, although it costs quite a bit to get the 1070 version, so you'd need to compare prices at the same spec levels then decide which you'd prefer.
Does it have Thunderbolt port ?
There's no Thunderbolt support with this model unfortunately.
Jarrod'sTech ah i see thanks a lot. Suscribed:)
Subscribed
can you do alienware 17r4 ?
I've requested one for review but they don't have one available at the moment, they said they'd let me know when it was available.
Can you please review the omen x? Thanks
I've tried to contact HP to get one but haven't had any replies yet unfortunately.
Hello, Does this support thunderbolt 3?
Unfortunately not.
;( thanks
I had an issue with this laptop that i was getting low FPS with all the games atleast not the FPS that this laptop deserves.
Anyway, i found out that it was on a single channel RAM 16 GB, i had to buy another stick for 200$ to get the right FPS.
Ah ok, how much of a performance difference did it make? Interested to find out!
Jarrod'sTech around 40% better
Oh wow, quite large!
did u do the pubg test before or after the 1.0 update ?
The video came out before the 1.0 release date, so before :p so in theory the results could be a little better now.
Jarrod'sTech i think around 15/20 % better
+Just AJoX hmm possibly, I haven't played much myself since 1.0 to be honest but I heard it was a nice boost in performance
I have the same model
When I play games the CPU temperature reach 95 C, is that normal??
The 7th gen model? That sounds hot for a 7700HQ. This is an older video though and I did a crap job compared to my newer stuff where I test thermals in far more depth so it's hard for me to answer, but generally I have found the GE63/GE73 to run hot. Depends if you're throttling, then you're losing performance. Look into CPU undervolting, might help, here's a guide: ruclips.net/video/yNt9L3BWOFo/видео.html
@@JarrodsTech thanks alot
I undervolted the CPU and the temp drop by 20 degree
Thanks again
Ever thought of comparing it to alienware laptop ? Awesome review tho ^_^ loved the 720p cam test.
Thanks! I'm currently working on getting some Alienware laptops at the moment, so hopefully I'll be able to do some videos in the future 😃
Jarrod'sTech sweet !
Jarrod'sTech which model you think is better P950HP or P650RS-G with 1070 graphic card??
+Adam Piątek yeah 650 has better cooling and slightly larger battery, but as a result it weighs a bit more
Jarrod'sTech thanks for your help and fast reply ;)
So, I wouldn't be able to put a NVMe M.2 SSD in this?
You should be able to, it's got two M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 slots. So the SSD in the model I have is only SATA3 M.2 but you can upgrade that and there is a second slot.
The MSI GE73VR Raider has dual M.2 PCI-E Gen 3.0 x4 SSD's utilizing NVMe technology. They can take either the SATA or NVMe versions of the M.2 SSDs. Link for reference; www.msi.com/Laptop/GE73VR-7RF-Raider.html
Very nice review!!! This laptop is a beast, I got a question, I'm wondering what the keyboard is like, what the travel distance? and is it tactile?
There was a fair bit of space between the keys, and the keys felt tactile, basically if you've used a laptop with a steel series keyboard it's the same :)
Thank you so much!!!!! now I'm getting this tomorrow without any regret! :D +1sub
Han Jones
I have been using a MSI GT70 Dominator since 2010.
How about the bloatware? Is it bad?
+Master Chris there were a few MSI specific apps eg for managing the keyboard lighting, the only undesirable program for me was Norton but you can always uninstall :)
Jarrod'sTech Thanks for the answer. I'm considering buying this laptop since it's on sale due to BF right now. But MSI is known for bloatware, so that's the reason why I asked.
Hi guys i need advice, i cant choose between this msi ge73vr gtx 1070 and the msi GT73EVR 7RF-1012FR Titan Pro ( with gtx 1080), what you guys think ?
What's the difference between this and Ge63vr raider?
I believe that one is a 15 inch model, rather than 17 inch, otherwise they seem to have the same specs.
Is it a GTX 1070 full sized or a 1070 Max-Q?
Normal 1070, no Max-Q here.
Thanks :)
Is it noisy when it goes to the max setting?
At full maximum fan settings it was probably one of the loudest laptops I've tested. While playing all my games it was loud but not as bad as manually maxing out the fans, it never needed that in my testing with my room temp.
I see, thank you
I want to compare gt73 and ge73. Can you help me with that
Assuming you mean the GT73VR 7RF, it seems mostly similar except that it's thicker, heavier, and has a 1080 for the graphics rather than a 1070.
Jarrod'sTech so what would you choose? Is there a big difference between 1070 and 1080 ?
