I got to see them at the Academy of Music in NYC in the early 70's. They were even better live than the album which to me is the mark of a great band. I'm now 70 but still listen to them often.
My god, it has been too long since I listened to that. Mick's solo work is profound and timeless in intensity and emotion. Layers upon layers in a real masterpiece.
I saw them twice in Philadelphia in early 70's. Live they were more than words and music. They were an experience that ya never forgot. I too am 70 now and I am sharing their music with a new generation. Some of my friends are now the age I was back then. And they always are freaking out over them. Glad to be able to bring great music to the young ones. They say we were so lucky to live then. They're right. We sure às in hell were.
I envy you! I was living in Hungary and we were just happy to know them and listen their fantastic music. 4-5 years ago I was in Vancouver BC at their concert. It was good, but I missed that feeling, that you felt.
I heard this tune on Planet Rock radio last night (19/03/2023), while travelling. I hadn’t previously given Uriah Heep much attention, although I really like classic rock and some prog music (am a 70’s born gal). I really liked this tune with its orchestral backing. It’s reminiscent of Deep Purple’s tune Child in time and also the orchestral thing that Jon Lord did with Deep Purple. I will seek out some more Uriah Heep music and explore it 🙂.
J'ai eu la chance de voir un concert à Paris au premier rang au palais des sports et avec David quelle souvenir j'ai encore les photos du concert et j'ai même encore le billet un des meilleurs concerts de hard rock parmi tant d'autres souvenirs inoubliables
These guys are the originators of euro power opera metal!! Without this precursor no Gloryhammer, no Power Wolf, no Stratovarius, not even Freddy Mercury & Queen!! Love my Uriah Heep!!!
I remember when I first heard Salisbury about 10-15 years ago I couldn't get it out of my head how much Timo Kotipelto was influenced by Dave Byron's vocals
My ex-wife had all their LP's back in the 1970's; when we were together. I never appreciated them as I do now ........ Mick Box was/is as good as they get!!!!!!!
When I think of the word 'masterpiece' I usually think of Mozart or Verdi, but 'Salisbury' is an extraordinary piece, and Box' solo is years ahead of it's time. His finger speed is astounding
Wow, thank you so much !!! I am 64 now, first time when i listened to you, i was a 14 years old young girl. Do you think that i am faithful ?? Hugs from Germany !!

The Salisbury tour was my very first live give gig. I will never forget it. This is an awesome track and I love Paul Newtons bass. He is my favourite Heep bass man
Believe it or not, this is not my favorite Heep song! I discovered my favorite after hearing this masterpiece on the radio and immediately going out and buying the album (American version so a little different. That's when I found "Lady in Black" which is my favorite! Not the super slick, very produced and powerful work that is this song but a haunting tune attached to amazing lyrics! All in all, 70's Heep is the best!
Somewhere in your eye, that very special glow. Something drawing me, to where, I do not know. I never really thought that I would lose myself. But now I'm going faster than anybody else. You move without a sound, touch me with your hand Just like the rain that fondles every grain of sand. This thing we're gonna do, it's just for you and me. I'm gonna make it good, good as it can be. Your kiss is sweeter now, your breath is getting warm. We must take our time and last it through till dawn. I wonder will it be? Oh, I expect it to. There have been other girls, but no one else like you. I feel a power here I've never felt before. And I begin to see what drives us to want more. Oh god of all my dreams, please tell me if I'm wrong. Because I think you have been in love. As time past, and all too fast, I just knew it couldn't last. And I guess that the end was near at hand. Oh we tried our love inside, it just crumbled up and died. What went wrong I will never, never understand. You tell me why. Alone again - how could you leave me. Alone again - I don't want to be. Alone again - yeah! There's a line, in a rhyme, I was going to send to you. It says: All that is to be will surely be. So, though you had to go 'cause you needed someone new, Is there still a chance that you'll come back to me? I want you back you see. Alone again - how could you leave me. Alone again - I don't want to be. Alone again - yeah! Somewhere in your eye, that very special glow. Something drawing me, to where, I do not know. I never really thought that I would lose myself. Remaster sounds really nice, brings out some nuance to the instruments giving them that feel of real playing. But then the original recording had its limitations and this a remaster, not a remix.

My favorite Uriah Heep track.
I bought this album in May 1973 for the first time- Record Club of America in York, Pa.
51 years ago...wow!
One of the greatest songs and one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded.
To me this piece of music represents a rock symphony for an Ancient Greek tragedy. Absolutely brilliant. Work of art.
One of the greatest guitar solos of all time!
One of the LONGEST original solos of all time. Unbelievable.
Actually three of the greatest guitar solos. 😊 What a treat!
