they are 50+ almost 60, still doing 2+ hour shows and they do it in this kind of weather. All songs are written composed and made entirely by the band members. Its a sad state of affairs when the top 10 songs on spotify all have like 4-7 songwriters and a million producers. There is almost zero artistic expression from the artist, they are just machines with good voices that sing a calculated algorithmic noise. Dont get me wrong, a lot of the top songs on spotify are good, but they contain very little artistic expression, they are constructed to be hits, to be popular.

GREAT ANALYSIS. Loved listening to your reaction and comments. The song is indeed the Holy Grail of downpicking learning. I gave myself forearm tendonitis recently, thinking I was getting better at my downpicking practice, only to fall flat on my arse when I tried to keep up with the song! So, Ive gone back a few more beats on the metronome, and tried to emphasize more on the wrist when picking. Its like relearning it all again, but I want to get there so bad and play along to the song. Incidentally, this whole Manchester gig is fantastic. Really worth a watch online here. It utterly lacerates bullet raindrops for most of the gig and it looks so apocalyptic, under blackened rain skies. That stadium tour of Europe of '19 was excellent. And, I have to say that, for all the negative things about St. Anger , the songs "Frantic" and "St Anger" itself sounded massive and properly awesome on this tour. With the proper tones and snare (!), and some flutters of soloing, those songs got the justice and respect they deserved.

Oh boy, picking the best metallica song is not easy.
Call of Ktulu is really epic. I view it as the ultimate Metallica song because it was co-written by Dave and Cliff.

Shredmaster, have you ever done analysis like this on the music of Death? There's a lot of modal interchange in those that I think deserves analysis on your videos. Chuck was a genius.

My favourite Metallica song is Damage Inc.
It's not the most complicated Metallica song, but it's fast and the riffs kick ass.

I don't know which is their "best" song, but on most given days my favorite is probably Creeping Death. This might alternate with Four Horsemen, Disposable Heroes, One and even Master, despite the fact I am burnt on that one.
By the way, I noticed a more liquid tone In the guitars while playing in the rain.

Fun fact of James guitar is that the wood was built from an old garage they wrote master of Puppets in and the inlays are a dedication to cliff.

You should do one of these breakdowns for a Dethklok song. No joke, I'm totally serious. I saw them co-headline with Mastodon and with High on Fire opening at the Hammerstein Ballroom and it was one of the best shows of my life.
