  • Why do some Metallica songs get overlooked? In my opinion, Metallica's song, "Blackened" is better than "Master Of Puppets." It's got speed picking, Black Sabbath Riffs, harmonized leads and much more. Let me know if you agree. If not, what's the most overlooked Metallica track in your opinion? Also, do you think Dave Mustaine could write a song as good as Blackened?

Long story short (many years before the internet existed) I was still discovering what sort of music I liked. It was much harder to do back then but on the radio the monsters of rock festival was playing and played 'harvester of sorrow' and 'one'. That was my introduction to Metallica. I got the AJFA album and was blown away by intro to 'blackened' (I was listening to a lot of jimi hendrix). AJFA was my daily go to for something to listen to for a long time. A friend of mine got MOP, I listened to but to start with I wasn't really into it. And that's the story of I become the most hated Metallica fan the world 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Blackened intro live is absolute goosebumps, as well as Battery intro and Struggle Within Intro. Unfortunately they play none of the intros live but only "loop it in". Blackened is an amazing song and one of my favourites, I love the breakdown.
Dave Mustaine could of course write a song as good as blackened but in a different way as I think where Metallica and Megadeth differ is technicality over impact. Megadeth songs are like riff salad, fast, technical but often without any structural arrangement and quite stop starty whereas Metallica has massive simpler but in my opinion far more powerful and impactful riffs and smoother transitions and breakdowns.
A lot of people argue megadeth are better because they are more technical etc which if that's what you want is perfect and I love that too but for me Metallica songs are better for the reason I stated above, they are songs rather than shows of ability

Like, you pointed out the Sabbath and Maiden, but other stuff like a lot of Hendrix and Page in Kirk's solos (also why I love the wah overuse), tons of punk influence in sound + attitude, Load and Reload have that real southern groove that I love, the dirty rawness of St. Anger, I enjoy Lou Reed so adding Metallica was the icing for me. I'll do you one better; there was a lot of hype surrounding Master Of Puppets in Stranger Things, but let's not forget that The Four Horsemen made an appearance way before Puppets did.
I definitely consider this song better than Master Of Puppets. And I like how instead of using a clean melodic interlude for the middle section like they usually do, they went for a heavier almost break down type riff. And after listening to it again, I think it's my new favorite off of Justice For All.

Lars started using a click-track in his left in ear monitor a little over a year, because he has terrible tinnitus, which is actually one of the reasons why he played not good for over a decade. As musicians, we never wanna think we need help because we know our instruments, but at some point you just have realize, you do need help. I was born with tinnitus, so i understand that struggle all too much, at the same time being born with it made it easier for me to learn to cope with it while I was growing up. Kick Ass Man!🤘🏻🤘🏻

I wish you watched the performance of this song from 1989 because since 2000 or so, they’ve been cutting out a part of Kirks second solo and the pretty proggy section after it, which you’ve missed in this live video.

blackened is the second most popular song on and justice for all, following one, the song that literally won them a grammy. A more underground hit from ajfa would be like frayed ends of sanity or perhaps the title track if you want something really prog.

I'll answer all your questions you posed in the description:
    - Is Blackened better than Master Of Puppets? Both are epic in my opinion. No wrong answer. I like them both the same.
    - What's the most overlooked Metallica song? Tons!
    - No Remorse
    - Phantom Lord
    - Fight Fire With Fire
    - Trapped Under Ice
    - Escape
    - The Call Of Ktulu
    - The Thing That Should Not Be
    - Disposable Heroes
    - Orion
    - Damage, Inc
    - ...And Justice For All
    - The Frayed Ends Of Sanity
    - The Shortest Straw
    - To Live Is To Die
    - Dyers Eve
    - The God That Failed
    - My Friend Of Misery
    - Of Wolf And Man
    - The Struggle Within
    - The House Jack Built
    - Thorn Within
    - The Outlaw Torn
    - Unforgiven II
    - Where The Wild Things Are
    - Carpe Diem Baby
    - Prince Charming
    - Fixxxer
    - - Human
    - The Unnamed Feeling
    - Broken, Beat & Scarred
    - All Nightmare Long
    - My Apocalypse
    - Dream No More
    - Here Comes Revenge
    - Am I Savage?
    - Can Mustaine write a song as good as Blackened? Of course, but if you notice, Mustaine does not write long epic songs. Most Megadeth songs are fast, trashy, and to the point. Metallica has those epic, long compositions. I've never heard Mustaine write something like Orion, To Live Is To Die, One, Master Of Puppets, etc. Songs with twists and turns, clean melodic breaks, enough riffs to make 4 different songs. I'm sure he can but most Megadeth songs are 4 to 5 minutes, Metallica songs are 6 to 8 minutes. Love both bands! I feel Metallica are the superior song writers, though. Megadeth are more technical but that doesn't do anything for me in terms of the deciding factor to declare Megadeth better. There are tons of technical musicians. I prefer a better song to technicality.

Well said but mustaine did wrote some good stuff too
You know riffs of holy wars, polaris
Most problem comes from singing style and having more solos than using harmonies
Altho countdown and youth had some harmonies but i just think they missing something in it,you know the speed and brutality.

    • @MikeysMorgue
      @MikeysMorgue Год назад +1

@@sepehr-9210 No doubt. Mustaine has written long songs, but most of them fall in that 4 to 5 minute range. Just like Metallica has written fast, thrashy songs, but most of them fall in the 6 to 8 minute range. I like both bands! I think they are the two best Metal bands of all time! I just put Metallica ahead because I feel they are better song writers. There's no wrong answer. I do like to poke fun a Mustaine sometimes because the "only Megadeth" fans are insufferable babies! But Mustaine is one of my guitar heroes and musicial inspirations, as is James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett.
