  • In this video, I go through the process of how to make leather templates. This was done by using a sketch and then transferred to PC where I used the free program called Inkscape.
This is an older template I had made previously that I just got around to finishing the video.
If you would like to check out Inkscape you can access it here: inkscape.org/
I also use PDF Merge since you cannot make a two page PDF on inscape that you can check out using this link: www.pdfmerge.com/
To check out the FREE template I made from this video you can check out: mazeleather.com/bi-fold-cash-...
Lastly, if you liked this video but what it in a written form you can check out the article on Maze Leather here: mazeleather.com/how-to-make-a...
Hope this helped give an idea of how PDF templates are made for leather products!

Does the thickness of the leather make any difference to the pattern? I.e for thicker leather will you need more ease?

    Great video!
But I've always wondered, why are the templates for card pockets always trapezium shaped? Is it to reduce bulk while also allowing enough stitching at the bottom of each pocket?
I'm designing a template now and have no idea how long to make the short end of this "trapezium"...

@@themazeleather I think it's @15:33, the V-shaped part, it's the back part of card pockets. They're always shaped either like aV or an upside-down trapezium. Why are they shaped like that?

I usually use a height of 45mm. However, it really depends on the design and on how much of the card you want visible.
