Thank you for this video. If you are looking for content ideas, I would love to see a series of Nanocad pattern-making tutorials: mirroring, rounding corners, multi-page pattern pieces, etc.
Although my support here is not a pile of money, please keep it up on your contents. It helps me and the others a lot. The designs in my heads can now be expressed into a real prototype!
Thx for this clear presentation. Could you tell me when you take in count leather thickness and how you take in count (modify patern dimension or adjuste when you cut the leather) ?
This! hope leather tutorials actually teaches us how to design like you did. most of them just gave us 'Free pattern'. Love your work and content sir! thanks for teaching us how to fish(design)
I really like your videos and your metod of work designs and patterns. I have learnt a lot from you. I wonder if you can render your designs using any software program
Thanks! Some types of software would not be as suitable for complex projects like bags but most will be fine for small items like wallets. I always use CAD software like as NanoCAD and AutoCAD as I am familiar with them and they are quite powerful.
Excellent presentation. I am a beginner and I appreciate seeing how much time you spend in the design phase. I need to figure out my own rhythm but this gives me a good start. Well done sir.
When drafting the pattern for curved edges, especially at the gussets of the bag you designed in this video, how would you calculate the amount of leather you’ll need? Is it good enough to round off the dimensions to the nearest decimal point or is there something I’m missing? I usually design my patterns with Illustrator
You will need to use the length of the gusset at the stitching line not its perimeter. Then match this length to the body of the project. With this method you will have an accurate matching lengths. Nearest decimal point is more than accurate enough when designing with leather.
Basically you match the number of holes on the gusset and on the body. If the holes spacing is the same then the length of the gusset/body will be the same. Another way is a more trial and error approach.
@@TeranAtelier Thanks for the advise, one more question plz. which is best printer to use to print these after creating pattern, as If we use standard printer than it modifies the size
@@ansulgadia Any printer should work fine. Before plotting on CAD, select layout as A4 and scaling = 1 on the viewport. Then when you print select A4 paper and scaling = 100% or 'actual'.
the side parts of the bag are rounded at the bottom, so i think it's harder to measure or make out, how long/tall the front and back are going to be, right? is there any way to 'measure' lines when they're rounded like that?
Set the stitching line length on the gussets equal to the length of the sides of the main body. Then when you chisel in your stitching holes with the same spacing on both pieces separately they will have the same number of holes and be the same length. I will probably make a video on this topic in the future. This is easier done on CAD.

@@TeranAtelier Thanks :) I'm the person on reddit who showed you the wallet pattern of yours that I modified. Even though it's just a hobby for me, I always try to change up the pattern a bit so I'm not completely copying someone else's work. Appreciate it!
@@mischievousamoeba I remember it had great stitching! That is a great attitude to have and it is much more fulfilling to make projects you have designed.
Using CAD is something you can pick up if you practice using it. However, you can still do the whole pattern making process without a computer by using hand drawn and traced patterns which is what a lot of people do.
I've been looking for a video like this for months! Thank you so much for these informations. Btw, how did you create what spilts the patterns in what i assume A4 size parts at 4:36 ?

Very interesting. I started out drawing my project on paper to get an idea of what it will look like.
Thanks. Always good to trial and error before starting to cut into leather.
Looking forward to the final product.

Cute design. Please, i would like to know the particular software you use for pdf pattern drafting. Thank you 🙏
Great video ! When Nano CAD out the hand sketching , how to know the size ?
Thank you for great description💯
My pleasure! 😀
Great presentation I bought 3 Affinity programs still trying to learn them
Good luck! Thanks!
Hey
You style of cutting Pettren is very good please show more details about inside the bad pocket or more things I'll be waited for your reply
Hi. The inside pocket was designed with a gusset and can be found on page 11 and 12 of the pdf pattern in the video description.

I've downloaded nanoCAD and the "model" layer for me is black. Could you tell me how you can make it white?
At the top go to 'Tools', 'Options', 'Color Settings', 'Background' and then press 'Modify' and select white.
