The physical version comes with a little booklet, containing art, control guides, and extra information that adds personality to the characters and story. I haven't seen a booklet like that in years and it was a pleasant surprise to open the case and find it

I love how the farm mechanics is actually tied to the power level. This is a novel idea that was used in many games like Sakuna but Marvelous, having mastered the art of farming simulators, had perfected the balance. Sakuna is a game that I am so happy to see in this day and age.

@@egberteil8462 well in europe the publisher is marvelous games and they have it constantly on stock. Believe me, if u are in europe u dont need to pre order from them. Even now u can still buy the rune factory 4 special edition on their own website. Sakuna is also listed there so the stock wont be gone very soon. I can oder mine for 53€ or so instead of 50 pounds. Dont know how my trustworthy shop does it but i love their pricing.

This Game feels so Fluid the Platforming/Combat movement literally feels as smooth as water rolling down a rock , and the aesthetic is awesome idk what studio produced this Gem But WOW it is incredible hands down my favorite pickup this Year 🙌 This and Dragons Dogma are my two go 2s

I didn't pre-order the game,but I did rent it..hopefully it gets here this week..it looks really good,I like the art style,and from what I've heard of the soundtrack it sounds lovely..I like games with themes of Japanese culture,I hope to visit Japan someday,the people and their culture seem beautiful..I'm excited to try this game 😊

I'm torn. On the one hand slice of life, farming games only hold my attention for so long before they get tedious. On the other hand, this game has a plot and more than just farming...
The farming is more a means to aid the story and build your character stats. You won't be left aimless or to your own devices as with most farming games. Glen
I’ve played it, it feels awesome man. Its all connected and it works and plays like it’s supposed to with the story: you farm to survive and grow stronger. All part of the journey
But then the plot ends and your attention is gone. I far prefer the more sandbox nature of something like Stardew Valley, since I play that for much longer without getting bored... whenever a game has a plot I lose interest when that's over. Different folks I suppose.

Just finished my first main boss clear and I am blown away by this little sleeper hit. 47 hours in and I can't seem to bring myself to play anything else. I want the most Aromatic Revered Ears I can get! Lady Kamuhitsuki...notice me kami
Looks like a fun game, nice to see something other than a roguelike right now. Really love it when games throw in the farming and crafting elements like this, Rune Factory is a favorite series of mine for sure.
When Rune Factory came out on the Switch, I couldn't believe how enjoyable the experience was. Between the combat and romances, (the hilarious dialogue, being able to take along a villager as you quest), I knew I'd enjoy it better than the (at the time) up-and-coming Animal Crossing. And I wasn't wrong. I'm not big on any farming simulators, but Sakuna seems like a really fun action/rice-tending game-loop.

*Rogue Like, 8-Bit Pixel, Randomly Generated, Cards Battles and Souls-Like* is the most overused stuff indie devs have used to death right now to the point it's started to get so boring, I used to like the new games indies are making until now when every games they make is the same and the market now got flooded with them, it's always a good thing to make a game a bit different from the rest.
Wooaahhh! This game looks AMAZING! What a great concept to link farming and battle in this way. And I do love that even rotten food can be used and not wasted. And the overall story and character growth is relatable and wholesome. I'll for sure be picking this up!
I just found out about this game this morning and immediately searched it up on switchup you guys never disappoint! Question how is the replay value? After the plot is finished can we still farm and battle etc?
This game is very much like the ps2 golden days of RPGs, so yes...there is definitely "post-game" content. I'm 47 hours in (19 Sakuna years) and I cleared the final boss about 40ish hours in. Getting your rice maxed out (as in, cant improve Sakuna's AND your rice's stats anymore...cause remember...there's boosting Sakuna with white rice and then there's boosting her with brown rice. Maxing out Sakuna completely will require you to grow both perfected white and brown rice) seems like it'll take at least 60...maybe 80 hours...maybe even more tbh. Not to mention 100% every node, creating (and maximizing) every piece of gear, maximizing all of your abilities, clearing floor 100 in the tower, completing the highest level of survival for Lady Kamuhitsuki... There's easily 80-100 hours of content here. And the game doesn't punish you for veating the main boss 30 hours in by saying "Thanks, now start again completely fresh!"

My biggest complaint about the game is that the dialog is sorta compressed in audio quality. That's about it, but everything else is fine, the musics great, and it looks good in handheld!

Been actually following this game since 2017. It's really amazing what this two-man development team has achieved. Really good review since I was contemplating on grabbing it on PC but it looks like the Switch version performs well enough.
Sakuna's Japanese voice actor is Kiriha from Tsugumomo (Naomi Ohzora) and I'm happy Edit: And Satania from Gabriel Drop Out, as well as Uzaki from Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out. And probably more...
A lil giga wrecker feel on combat side, is £27 @ base. May check this one out don't mind a bit of farming if there's enough combat/platforming. Thought it may get forgot on hyrule day hope not..... Theres the Micevania Micetopia too on 20th!
I've been absolutely loving this game, I asked my mum for it for Christmas and been playing it like no tomorrow. I only have 1 problem with the game and that's that it's har to keep sakuna moving straight for some reason, she seems to almost zigzag a bit which is super annoying when planting rice
Was going to pass on this but happy I watched the review, seriously considering picking this up now. This sort of quality from a team that small deserves to be rewarded.
I went out and spontaneously preordered the divine edition today because the art and music look/sound so great, and it was basically only an extra $20 for the art book and 3 CD soundtrack. And a trinket along with that.

This is one of those games that shows that art style is way more important than actual graphic fidelity in making a game look good.

Been actually following this game since 2017. It's really amazing what this two-man development team has achieved. Really good review since I was contemplating on grabbing it on PC but it looks like the Switch version performs well enough.

A lil giga wrecker feel on combat side, is £27 @ base. May check this one out don't mind a bit of farming if there's enough combat/platforming. Thought it may get forgot on hyrule day hope not..... Theres the Micevania Micetopia too on 20th!

I've been absolutely loving this game, I asked my mum for it for Christmas and been playing it like no tomorrow. I only have 1 problem with the game and that's that it's har to keep sakuna moving straight for some reason, she seems to almost zigzag a bit which is super annoying when planting rice

Was going to pass on this but happy I watched the review, seriously considering picking this up now.
This sort of quality from a team that small deserves to be rewarded.
My biggest issue is that the Voice lines are super compressed. Sounds pretty bad.
I went out and spontaneously preordered the divine edition today because the art and music look/sound so great, and it was basically only an extra $20 for the art book and 3 CD soundtrack. And a trinket along with that.
You are my favourite reviewers on RUclips! Great video as always, I think I’ll get Sakuna for Christmas, specially with the Muramasa inspiration. Hope they port muramasa to the switch, it would fit perfectly in the console.
