Stumbled upon this right when it came to the Playstation Store and OH BOY, i had such a good time that i ended up pulling all-nighters and being the first one to finish the european version blind. This game is a real gem
This game is what I would consider something I never would try ... I'm a older gamer and the side scrolling action reminded me of Mystical Ninja for Snes I gave it a shot and WOW I was amazed the game is Easily a 9 for me !
Mystical Ninja was an incredibly underrated game, and didn't get the attention it deserved. It absolutely needs a remake! I'm really happy to see someone else had played Mystical Ninja and it wasn't just me. 🙃
Wow 10/10! 👏. Well you've completely sold me on the game, it looks fantastic. I'm stoked to play something new with such a unique mix of gameplay elements. Things get stale after 40 yrs of gaming, so im all on this one. Thanks for the great review.
the atelier series is also a really fascinating mix of genres. give the most recent one, atelier ryza, a try. it's the most easy going and accessible so far. that mysterious trilogy is also excellent and very accessible.
@@seanbcusack I loved Ryza. And the funny thing is that I've tried at least half a dozen Atelier games over the years on various consoles, they just never clicked. I was about to give up on them. Ryza just got everything right, the crafting was streamlined and the combat system felt fun and dynamic for the first time. Also loved the cast of characters. Very stoked for the sequel, day 1 buy for me 👍
@@Neo-Abobo other than ryza and the three mysterious trilogy ones, the others haven't clicked well with me either. i found the dusk trilogy okay, with ayesha being annoying crafting and bad difficulty spikes but good characters, eschatology being well rounded, and shallie being an unsatisfying plot but okay crafting. i'm working through arland but wow it's clunky having come from the later games. i stopped 75% of the way thru rorona to start playing sakuna. i'll eventually go back and finish the arlands, but they're really unbalanced. if you haven't tried sophie/firis/lydie&suelle, i found them as well balanced as ryza though with much more challenging crafting.
Wow, a 10? I remember following this since I heard of it long time ago, I wanted to try a game that includes some Simulation, put it on my wishlist, good to see it delivers. Great review.
This game is getting such amazing reviews everywhere, I'm really happy for the team that created it. My physical copy has yet to arrive in the mail and I'm so anxious to start playing this game!
I haven't played this but I want to play this and bravely default 2 I like your reviews but nothing shocks me hearing 10 out of 10 even after watching the regular trailer I felt deep emotion in this game. Thanks for all your hard work noisy pixel and I'm glad you seem in line with how I felt by the trailer alone
I was looking forward to the game but i might have to get it later, not much money and so much left to play yet. The CE looks pretty great though, the 3 CD soundtrack is not something you see often.
bought the CE and for 60 dollars its probably the best bang for your buck you'll spend on a CE ever and with the game itself being fantastic you couldn't ask for more.
Always wanted to try this game and the ps plus had it in the library and oddly enough its really fun and enjoyable to play. The rice mechanics are definitely the highlight of the game while the story is fun and charming. Overall its definitely fun
Looking forward to playing this one. Currently can't as I am busy playing those I got during the Halloween sale. But once the backlog is cleared then this one is definitely on my radar. Have played the developers past games, and if this is anywhere near as good as those then it promises to be a good time.
It's a horrible time to be gaming. Most aaa games are woke garbage. Metal gear survive is like spitting in hideo hojimas face. Don't compare this wonderful game to metal gear survive. I hope you weren't being serious about how good modern games are.
@@lordmathias1094 I just like seeing people trying something different. I havent actually played Metal Gear Survive. Luckily, there are many alternatives to AAA gaming.
does the game have limited years? or can you keep playing season after season to improve? i'm hoping it's not locked into a certain number of years before a forced ending, as i can imagine wanting to minmax things before various points or an assumed endboss. picked it up at midnight last night and only got a couple hours in, but it's got a little flavor of atelier and a big actraiser mood in there so far.
It doesn’t, but some story moments are tied to what year you’re in. You’re pretty much tasked with surviving and unlocking areas but there’s not huge rush there. Still I’d hate to say more because it may spoil the ending.
is there stuff that's missable if you take an extra year or so do stuff? like unless you hit plot point X by year 4, something bad happens? or is it tied to how far you've explored? trying to figure out how lax to be with playing around, i won't want it to bite me, like in some atelier games where suddenly time is tight and you wish you didn't dink around earlier. :-P
awesome game, beat it a couple weeks ago, thanks for the encouragement to play it, it was a real treat. a few minor warts aside like the scarf having bad hitbox detection with cliff edges and there being no run button.
Why does the game have to be so good? :) I'd like to buy Pikmin 3, both Ori Retails, Hyrule Warriors and Final Fantasy VII/VIII and IX this year. The list is getting longer and longer, but the Golden Harvest Edition looks really great. Thanks for the test.
Is this game more narrative/character driven or more gameplay driven? I'm OK with the farming elements when they are just a means to progress the story, but on the other hand I can't stand simulation games like Rune Factory for instance that have barely any story or characters to carry the game. So where does Sakuna fall into: story driven or gameplay driven?
Was the timer mechanic nerve wracking while in combat/dungeons? I find those kinds of mechanics such a turn off but I love everything else about this game...
Not really because you do get a tool that fights back agains the night. The bigger worry is the food, but you can always get a snack if you want :) also you can still fight at night, you just have to do it when you get stronger because enemies get stronger
@@NoisyPixelNews Not the rarity of it I mean, the fact that DMCV resonated so well with you. It inspires confidence that your tastes might align well enough with my own.
