    This makes me question the saddles. If you buy a bike this expensive it doesn’t come with pedals, why is the same not true for saddles? I buy a premium bike, I know what saddle I like. And if I don’t I’m buying pedals for it at the bikes shop already as an extra.

    • @binshuo

      and at local vancouver giant shop, you're not even able to specify the handlebar width and stem length. You'll have to make some aftermarket purchase and the bike shop will install them for you "free of charge".
      I think the last 3 years of bike shortage has pamperred these manufacturers and retailers too much.

    We’ll I’m going to address the bb elephant but not on the press fit aspect but the fact everyone is in belief that ceramic speed or even ceramic bearings are better!! Well Jack only when it comes to race day but only for race day. The problem lies in the fact that ceramic bearings on bikes (yes even ceramic speed) are only hybrid bearings and the balls are way too hard for the races and destroys them. (Here take my money cs). If you want really good and really fast bearings then get high quality like NTN, SKF and FAG with LLU or labyrinth seals. These will roll just as fast, cost about 1/5 of the cost and last 20 times longer. I’ll keep money and use ceramic on race day thank you

    • @fluidcycling
      @fluidcycling Год назад +2

      The BB on the Lab71 is the coated version. From CeramicSpeed: "Our coated products are covered by a lifetime warranty. The unique coating formula is a metallic layer that covers the bearing races and makes them 75% harder than steel. Thanks to this, they are highly resistant to corrosion and the coating provides an even lower friction than our standard bearings. Even if the bearing is contaminated with degreaser, water or mud, the risk of bearing failure due to corrosion is negligible if you choose the coated version."

    I rode the Cadex tires. I needed new tires and they were the only decent tires available at local bike shops, so I bought a set. I can say that they are very, very good tires. I still have one on the front but have changed the rear as the Cadex wore out. (Yes, I know. Mismatched tires! I am forever doomed to ride a Huffy that was put together at Walmart for eternity in the afterlife.)
    As for which bike I would choose, I would choose the Cannondale. The Giant just doesn't excite me at all while the Cannondale does. It is just a better looking bike in my personal opinion.

    Given you are comparing two high-end pure race bikes your evaluation criteria seems very odd. Little of your evaluation will be of interest to anyone who actually wants to race these bikes. Maybe you should have waited to release this video until after you rode both bikes. Ride quality, handling, aero, power transfer, are much more relevant than the topics you chose to address.

    Both fantastic bikes, but if I had the money to choose I wouldn’t think twice about picking the Cannondale.
    Giant is a fantastic manufacturer who make great bikes, but their biggest strength is in value for money against the competition. Cannondale is generally thought of as a higher tier manufacturer than Giant and with both bikes being similar price the Cannondale stands out as being the better buy just based on this. It’s also likely it will maintain a considerably higher resale value in future.
    Aside from that I just think it all looks a bit more slick and well finished, and the much smarter looking cockpit is a big difference for me.

      There is a fair market for top level bikes out there, ultimately there are plenty of people in the world who are wealthy (or use a lot of credit!). In my experience often the market for top level bikes is not the super fit athlete who is typically younger and less wealthy, but is the well off middle age guy who actually probably doesn’t ride that much. Hence the reason you often see these bikes re-sold a year down the line in almost unused condition.
      You may not buy a bike at this price, and neither would I - but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of people out there who will.

Fast delivery: It arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected.4. Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1. Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day... but not a big deal. I replaced the tubes.2. Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes.3. Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike - had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly. The lowest setting is too high. The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off).4. wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)

    If you look at geometries the y both differ much. As an owner of the previous Super Six (and Cannondale did not change the geometry) and riding a Giant propel advanced 1 I must say the Giant suits me much more. The cannondale has the slackest head angle of all racing bikes and the longest wheel base. I like it on long rides, it is predictable, but for me a bit boring, where the giant really felt exciting. I got that same feeling from the Trek Madone. But that is only my personal opinion.

    Propel won’t allow tyres bigger than 28 and come with Giants ludicrous tubeless system - forces you to run high pressures, max 28mm tyre, hookless rims meaning you can’t safely ride this bike with a non-Giant tyre if you weight more than 78kg.
