Some background info: this was completely written by The Rev. It sounds like a Tim Burton movie because a member of Danny Elfman's old band Oingo Boingo arranged the strings. The Rev also based the song around the verses of Oingo Boingo's "Nasty Habits". The female vocals in the studio version are Matt's actual wife, The Rev sings them here, and the preacher in the studio version is Ville Valo from HIM, Zacky sings that part here.
Are you sure it’s Val doing the female parts?? I’ve see the DVD of them making it, it seemed like they had that extra girl do it. The one who did dear god, I’m talking about.
Riksta 09 Matt’s wife didn’t do the vocal parts to this song. There’s a behind the scenes video on the making of the song and the female who sang that part wasn’t her. I don’t even know how that rumor started.
just a youtube commentator yeah I was sure that’s what happened, she was a country singer I believe but I’m not sure of her name. The rumour may have started because of how often the girls were in the studio with them or just because she did at one stage sing wth them but it was extremely brief and occasional to my memory
Riksta 09 oh right, I remember that. The performance with Val screaming during their Waken the Fallen era. But yeah, I think the female singer on A little piece of heaven was a country singer
At 2:22, it says "Buried Alive (live in the LBC)" and "Save Me (Live in the lbc)" but neither of those songs were played there Tho you should still check out those two songs coz they're great, too! Save Me is a masterpiece!
Man I love your *musically literate* points of view. The fact you might not entirely like a band or song you do give credit where it's due. Mad respect and rock on
So glad you listened to this before watching official vid. Lots of reaction vids get hooked on the animated story in the vid and get distracted away from the music. Great stuff you're doin MBD. Keep it goin man.
I agree!. I love this video. They sound phenomenal live. But, I think the first time should be the official video. If you do n't know the song a lot can be lost. That's why he says there is almost too much going on. It takes the video or rewatching it to catch everything going on.
I really like your comment about Johnny christ. He's a passive guy (i don't know if that's how to describe him). But I found his bass skill really awesome. You're right, he keeps the entire song alive most specially on the part where guitar is not on the play. Only few notices him.
Talented group of guys for sure. They study and listen outside the genre they play and then mix in elements. Gates studies and plays jazz. The Rev was a hip-hop fan. And they give great live shows. I would love to see them again. For Buried Alive and Save Me I recommend the studio versions. And if you don't have the album already, The Stage is fantastic!
Supporting you man, as supporting metal as a singer. Thanks for being as much as real. Love the Avenged Sevenfold as much as an inspiration for me. All of the love from India
This really showcases The Rev and Synyster's love for Oingo Boingo and Mr. Bungle, in fact two former members of Oingo Boingo wrote the strings for this song. Jimmy and Brian had a Goblin Rock band when they were really young called Pinkly Smooth that sounded very similar to this. Being a hardcore A7x fan myself, you learn how dedicated most of their fans are, its a pretty cool thing and they're really dedicated to their fans. It's a very cool, unusual thing I think. Having said that, they have a lot of hate in the metal and rock community. Then again so did Metallica when they wrote the black album and cut their hair.
It went way out past the edge lol. It was the revs genius behind the whole song. Watch the video, it will make sense to you. Then you’ll see how far past the edge it goes lol
This is why I wanted you to watch the video for this first and then react to the live version. If you watch the video you can tell what the song is about and how off the wall it is and hear all of the seperate instruments
agree with you!!! their sound is complex enough, but not pedant, not too much. i'm so glad that i discovered your avenged reactions, i'm watching all of them. thank you for sharing!!!
For years every single time I've heard this song I've wished it would be adapted into a live action film. It's so Danny Elfman maybe that's why? It's got such a rock opera sound and I love it.
The Rev could write an entire album, record a full demo by himself on drums and piano with his own vocals, and sing while playing all his drum parts without a single mistake.
Yo MBD. Another great reaction. Glad you’re enjoying the trip. In your spare time, check out the video version. Lends a whole bunch more depth to the song. Bizarre but awesome. Rev at his finest. Thanks for sharing with us.
Metal Biker Dude: There's a lot going on, and sometimes when you do that it gets too complex Mike from Become the Knight: Behold... The Arctopus. Throw shit at a wall and see what sticks.
What a nice man to listen to, honestly. Most people who react to stuff are a little too much for me, but this seemed so genuine, and educated (if that's how you say it in English). Also the tone is pretty soothing which, again, not common in reacts.
They were in their prime there, no mistakes, the microphones on the drums were perfect as well. I sometimes listen to the whole fucking thing, pure greatness for my ears! On top of that we get to see how amazing The Rev was, singning also playing fast pace drums. Fans loving the concert, were in on it when Matt told them to. The best live concert ever man. Some cant play the shit or even sing live, but this, holy fucking shit
Hey dirty! I could not agree more on the part of listen-ability and to complex song' s part of the video! You should defiantly see Nightwish - Ghost Love Score Live , absolutely amazing performance!
For a lot of context, you should check out the ‘Making Of’ they did. Not on here, just in your own time. They did one for the entire self titled/white album.
Hey MBD I loved that pod cast. I really lost track of time listening to your theories. It reminded me of my first time listening to the stage album from avenged sevenfold. you should listen to it on your own it'll help you to really pick it apart. Not to mention you get guitar solos out the ass on it doesn't hurt the experience at all. You have good night man.
I'd love to see your reaction to the live Nightmare performance with Mike Portnoy on drums. He compliments it nicely and kept things going for them when the Rev left.
I know that the guys on your patreon gets to choose the next thing you react to, but just a heads up about a band that The Rev actually sang for. It was called "Pinkly Smooth". It's a experimental thing he did with Syn Gates on the side
You should do Buried Alive (official music video) It also wasn't performed at LBC so that was a mistake at 2:22 Buried Alive and Save Me are in their 2010 album while the LBC performance was in 2009 (or 2008)
Sir, your content is really solid. I strongly suggest you look into either Beast and the harlot, Save Me, Afterlife, And All Things Will End, Desecrate Through Reverance.
The song is about a man murdering his gf then she comes back from the dead and murders him then he comes back and together they become serial killers lol
Weirdness? yeah xD it's a love story between 2 zombies basically, its nuts. If you have the chance, check the official video clip of the song, it's insane! Oh and The Rev is the one that wrote that song.
METAL BIKER DUDE! if you think there is such a thing as TOO TECHNICAL...you should check out some blotted science. it will melt your brain, all instrumentals, so effin good, the more complex just means it doesn't get "stale" as you stated in a previous video since you won't catch everything the 1st time. some of my favorite songs i didn't necessarily like too much on 1st listens, i gotta give stuff like 5 shots or more xD
Have you ever reacted to or listened to Skillet? They're a Christian metal band with a great drummer who takes second vocals in so many of their songs. Awake and Alive, Not Gonna Die and Hero are three amazing songs.
Save me is a 11 minutes long but its definitely one of their best songs. Check it out
yep. best song
Agree. So much going on but it flows so well. A lot of fun to play too

His wife is on the art of subconscious illusions off sounding the seventh trumpet
React to every single song by a7x live LBC.. they are all worth..

You want groove? Scream by Avenged Sevenfold.
Every song during the LBC concert was 👌🏻
At 2:22, it says "Buried Alive (live in the LBC)" and "Save Me (Live in the lbc)" but neither of those songs were played there
Tho you should still check out those two songs coz they're great, too! Save Me is a masterpiece!
Rems those songs weren’t even in existence yet when they recorded this dvd lol
@@kennedyfiggdrums Yeah, exactly
KennedyFiggDrums buried Alive supposedly was a song they were waiting on for years but that’s only what I’ve heard.
The Revs high singing part is actually done by a woman in the studio version
Man I love your *musically literate* points of view. The fact you might not entirely like a band or song you do give credit where it's due. Mad respect and rock on
The rev wrote this song in about 8 minutes while highly intoxicated as a joke
So glad you listened to this before watching official vid. Lots of reaction vids get hooked on the animated story in the vid and get distracted away from the music. Great stuff you're doin MBD. Keep it goin man.
Yeah I saw the live first and love the song. If I clicked on the music video I probs would have bailed within 30 seconds
As much as I love this version, I really wish you got the full picture of with the music video.
I agree!. I love this video. They sound phenomenal live. But, I think the first time should be the official video. If you do n't know the song a lot can be lost. That's why he says there is almost too much going on. It takes the video or rewatching it to catch everything going on.
Ok now watch A Little Piece Of Heaven OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO!!!
Oh no what have you done
Hellyeah
Dude your going to give him a reason to stop reaction videos.... he isn't ready for that
Critical acclaim live in the lbc please sir
Jake Swander yes
I really like your comment about Johnny christ. He's a passive guy (i don't know if that's how to describe him). But I found his bass skill really awesome. You're right, he keeps the entire song alive most specially on the part where guitar is not on the play. Only few notices him.
The Rev wrote this entire song!

For Buried Alive and Save Me I recommend the studio versions. And if you don't have the album already, The Stage is fantastic!
Gates also grew up playing and studies Classical, Baroque and Avant Garde, it's why he is known as the music theorist in the band as a running joke 😂
Supporting you man, as supporting metal as a singer. Thanks for being as much as real. Love the Avenged Sevenfold as much as an inspiration for me.
All of the love from India
Right on man

It went way out past the edge lol. It was the revs genius behind the whole song. Watch the video, it will make sense to you. Then you’ll see how far past the edge it goes lol
Jeremy Johnson the making of the song would give him a lot of insight as well.
I mean what other bands can you say have all the members sing and all kill it live every show?
I love how you play the whole song. A lot of other react videos skip a lot.
This is why I wanted you to watch the video for this first and then react to the live version. If you watch the video you can tell what the song is about and how off the wall it is and hear all of the seperate instruments

also thank you for acknowledging johnny here!
Gotta see the animated video, actually fits to the song. Really good dark story
The Rev part is amazing in a biblical way, the song is legendary ❤️
For years every single time I've heard this song I've wished it would be adapted into a live action film. It's so Danny Elfman maybe that's why? It's got such a rock opera sound and I love it.
React to Avenged Sevenfold - Strength of The World
The Rev could write an entire album, record a full demo by himself on drums and piano with his own vocals, and sing while playing all his drum parts without a single mistake.

Yo MBD. Another great reaction. Glad you’re enjoying the trip. In your spare time, check out the video version. Lends a whole bunch more depth to the song. Bizarre but awesome. Rev at his finest. Thanks for sharing with us.
Metal Biker Dude: There's a lot going on, and sometimes when you do that it gets too complex

Hi from Portugal, can you react to Avenged Sevenfold - Critical Acclaim (live LBC)
Vasco porreiro!
Let's just appreciate that it took 5 minutes to get to the song
Please do the entire show! It’s an amazing show start to finish!
Almost easy live in lbc for amazing drums from Jimmy, also Critical accalim live in lbc to hear Jimmy sing more in one song!
Avenged sevenfold songs: you grove to em and rock out the first time. The 100th time you're finding new subtleties and inreractions.

Oh man, I've been waiting this
Neither Save me or buried alive were written at that point! They came out in 2010 and this live DVD came out in 2008. Awesome reaction though!
Pretty sure people wanted the actual music video man
I'd love to see your reaction to the live Nightmare performance with Mike Portnoy on drums. He compliments it nicely and kept things going for them when the Rev left.
Metal Biker Dude Reacts 👍👍👍
There is a studio version of The Rev playing through Almost Easy on his own. You should check it out!
I know that the guys on your patreon gets to choose the next thing you react to, but just a heads up about a band that The Rev actually sang for. It was called "Pinkly Smooth". It's a experimental thing he did with Syn Gates on the side
You should do Buried Alive (official music video)
It also wasn't performed at LBC so that was a mistake at 2:22
Buried Alive and Save Me are in their 2010 album while the LBC performance was in 2009 (or 2008)
Great reaction as ever 💪💪💪

This is the on core for lbc the way they did unholy confession before this was amazing
Need to check out Critical Acclaim live at the LBC

The Rev came up with it
You definitely picked the best version of this song, LBC was just insane with every single track they played, you should react to "The stage" next!
Do Beast and the harlot, either live or music video, either way that song is perfect
The song is about a man murdering his gf then she comes back from the dead and murders him then he comes back and together they become serial killers lol
Weirdness? yeah xD it's a love story between 2 zombies basically, its nuts. If you have the chance, check the official video clip of the song, it's insane!
