  • Finding ways to harness the power of the sun with new Ecoflow Glacier fridge, Reolink Keen Ranger trail camera, and the Ecoflow Wave 2. After getting my first solar panel I have been obsessed with finding new ways to keep my cabin safe and comfortable without having to run my gas powered generator.

    From experience, you'll need at least 500w's of solar panels. Have 3 100amp hr lithium batteries with solar charger for those days when the Sun isn't out. Small 800w inverter gas generator with lithium charger as a backup.

    I watched two of your videos and subscribed. I am contemplating to build a small cabin in the countryside and leave off grid. Who knows? May be one day… Anyway, what I wanted to add is that you can adjust the size of the ice cubes, by pressing again the same button. I think, in your video you had it configured to make the smaller ice cubes, but I may be wrong. Anyway, good luck with your new solar powered equipment.

    Solar addiction is an ugly word. U will never call someone who likes taking there nicotine through burning material and inhaling that smoke Into there lungs. .. No brother what u have is called a lifestyle. A way to make your wallet happier to reside with you. Welcome to the club. 😊 Perhaps an extra 200watt solar panel in my opinion with the 100watts of solar u have now would be auwsome.

    The only problem with buying an icemaker in a refrigerator of any kind, is it creates more problems. Ice machines built into refrigerators are one of the most problematic things, and most common repairs that have to be made.
    The less options you have in any kind of refrigeration, the better.

    If you want to save some space in the fridge keep your eggs in a cabinet close to the floor, on the north side of the house. For years now I've been keeping eggs like that for up to 3 weeks at a time.

    • @alaskacabinadventures
      @alaskacabinadventures  Год назад +2

      Indeed! I had chickens for years and never refrigerated the eggs. I believe if they are washed and (like they are in US supermarkets) they are less hardy to warm temps. Thanks for watching!

    Here's hoping all this stuff works out for you, I'm curious especially how it all stands up to the winter temps.
    One thing I'd say about the AC though is that thing has an exhaust somewhere, and it's going to be putting hot air out of that. It's just how AC works. If you know where that vent is on it and can potentially get that vented out the window then you're probably going to be in better shape, otherwise it's just going to be putting cold air out front... but still shedding that head right back into the cabin from the exhaust.
    Depending on how it does its heating then it may be the same in reverse, but I don't know if it's heating with a heat pump or just dumping power into some coils. Hard to tell at a glance but the fact it mentions draining in heat mode makes me think it may be a pump, which would mean that vent is also putting cold out when it's heating. Also does look like they sell official duct stuff for it, I don't know if you grabbed any of that but I'd definitely suggest getting it hooked up to dump the waste air out of the window for it to really do its job for ya.
    Best of luck man.

    Told you man, whole new world. How, what will you say to Timmy when he pulls up. Bet it will be hilarious. You can get a 360 camera like the youtubers use on their motorcycle and snowmobiles and phase it in. Handy dandy. Movin' on up. You need at least three panels set at angles to catch the sun while it goes around. There are some self powered auto track units as well. All kinds of stuff. Life is good off grid these days. Still gota cut firewood.

    I have seen the refrigerator before being advertised on a big channel, of course they got theirs free. I love the stealth camera for your set up, but we live in a suburb with Amazon package theft issues. I got two solar powered security cameras and made them as conspicuous as possible as a deterrent more than to catch anyone. They communicate with my phone through my internet router.

    The EcoFlow ice maker needs to be filled up more to make full ice cubes as you diddnt fill it up enough. Also there is a little flap on the side with a plastic tube on it so you can drain the water from the ice maker

      I take it you didn't see my first solar video? I am just starting the process of learning about solar and I am planning to add more panels as I go along, this is just the first step for me. Also, just having batteries to store the excess energy from when I do run my generator is a huge help. Thanks for watching.
