Oh I am so curious what the intake and bov sounds like. The wind down sound is sooo satisfying in this car! The car literally turns me into a giggle factory now haha.
Just installed the mst intake, seems like im getting some compressor surge when cruising/maintaining constant speed. Only happens when putting very little throttle. If im on the throttle hard then no problems at all. With the car set on cruise control, the surge still occurs. Sounds like @17:30 you are getting it too
Interesting, never really noticed it tbh. On light throttle it just sounds like it’s taking air in as if a flap is half open if it makes sense? Never really noticed any lagging or issues with the engine when this occurs though. Have you noticed anything concerning?
I’ve put about 250 miles since the install and no CEL yet. This revised setup includes the proper port/plug for the recirc lines to avoid a CEL. Nothing yet, but I will update if I do. I know a few brands are still having issues.
That is a major design flaw in terms of the intake box from mst and should have taken that into account for the hood vents. The Core owners should not worry too much about it unless they also cut their hood for the vents...
100% agree. I have communication with MST about this. They are working for a full box/fix for this. I do wish this was considered during the build for the GRC. They are coming with a fix for this hopefully soon.
@@ithinkv If you have the MST system, then all you need is the box that will work with the existing intake. I reached out to MST and they have a design finalized. Just waiting for them to give me the green light so I can grab one and real world test it.
@@NEMotoGuy I think maybe they have revised the design to be a completely new kit unfortunately :( I reached out to them and saw some of the design updates, it won't fit the existing piping and comes as a new kit.
No tune required. I have been running the intake without a tune for months now and well over 2K miles. Not a single CEL or issue (knock on wood). A tune would however make the intake more efficient as far as power gains, etc.
@@NEMotoGuygreat , but without tune this would damage the engine in future. As per my understanding, installing after market intake required a tune so the engine could read there is a change in airflow reading. Please correct me if I’m mistaken
@@alsharjishwain2170 I have been running the intake without a tune for months now, almost 3K miles without a single issue. The intake incorporates the OEM MAF sensor so the ECU is able to read and properly record/address the increased airflow/cooling from the intake. when you got your corolla did it come with the license plate in the middle? and then you installed it on the side. or did the dealership leave it off? asking because I will be receiving my 2024 corolla in a week or so and I'm worried that the plate will be in the middle of the grill, making it look ugly..

So does the intake say no tune required because u can get away with it on the wrx because of the accessport and as of right now there’s no Ap for the Gr I’m getting mine soon and doing homework I would really recommend a tune with any after market intake unless the dimensions are the same size and everything
