I manage Bermuda grass for a living and also have Bermuda lawn , the key to high performing Bermuda grass is mowing low frequently - with a rotary mower a height of 1.25 to 2 inches is ideal and mowing 2-3 times per week encourages lateral growth instead of vertical growth , making the Bermuda spread aggressively and thicken up - making it look better and prevent weed pressure much better, aeration and fertilizer in the summer months is key and proper pre emergent in fall and spring is vital. The biggest mistake I see people make is letting the Bermuda grow tall and mowing every 2-3 weeks, making the turf thin out and allow lots of weeds to come in and lawn is brown every time it’s mowed.

If you want to take your Bermuda to the next level reel mowing at half inch to 1 inch will be even better and the Bermuda will thrive , But it needs regular watering to be maintained at this low of a cut.

Lots of useful information ! After a dry winter my St. Augustine grass has been replaced by crab grass. I am now removing crabgrass and reseeding with Bermuda grass. More work than I need. Will follow your lead and apply herbicide to the area. Thanks.

Great video! In Australia most people keep Bermuda grasses at half an inch.. I looking at a new lawn for my place and asked about keeping this type of grass at 1-2 inches and got looks from some folks, like I was mentally ill!! Lmao Great to see it can be done.
