The staircase being upside-down isn't the reason you can BLJ, though. It's because it's a low ceiling
it seems like this youtuber doesnt even know what the glitch exactly is... saw him reply to a comment and described it simply as "a speedrunning trick" which isn't exactly wrong but when you're asked on what it is you should elaborate on how it works
The BLJ (short for Backwards Long Jump) is a glitch in Super Mario 64 that abuses the lack of a negative speed cap/limit in the game, repeatedly long-jumping backwards on a slope to gain immense speed. This works because on slopes, you get grounded almost immediately after the jump, letting you jump again, and again, and again. This is also why it works for ceilings and objects moving up.
Yes my definition of BLJ was simplistic in that comment. Appreciate the further explanation. I'm not always the best at explaining these things in detail but I am aware of how much speed you gain.

Backwards long jump. It is a glitch in the Super Mario 64 that let's you skip some parts of the game for speedruns

@@cortheweeb It's not really mindblowing that someone doesn't know a glitch from a 30 year old game. You have to either be a SM64 or a speedrunning fan to know what a BLJ is, and most people don't care about either.

Yes,yes you can,its literally using the original code for the physics,the normal minecraft stairs are too big though so the mod creator added castle stairs in the creative menu
Someone also ported it to roblox,and,yes you can infact blj with that too since its literally using the original code (i've tested it)
Screw Elytras and (Glitched Swift) Horses now, I'm just gonna put downside Staircases everywhere.
If this was a mod on bedrock edition, you can go up to 96 chuncks of renderdestence so the blj would be more fun to mess around with

I wasn’t able to get a controller to work with this mod. Had to use keyboard. Don’t know if there’s a way to do it.
with the mods that import mario into other games none of them are built with controller support

it that works, then remake the upsidedown Minecraft stairs in a SM64 mod if you can.
If people can make a mod like this, there could have made a… that three-letter word mod
does it happen to start with s and end with x? because that mod already exist
pretty sure the reason why is because the player is manipulating the game of going higher platforms, yet Minecraft's was more wider instead of steep, not allowing Mario to build up more negative speed in process. Low ceilings are a bit more mysterious, but I believe it's the same but considering Mario STILL builds up speed while long jumping in any direction, on low ceiling he's capable of landing on the ground as quickly as he could, like the staircase.
i dont know at all but it looks like mario just cant move in that cramped tiny space so he gets shot outwards

The code for Mario in SM64 is running in the background, and code magic translates it into Minecraft. The video "I put Mario 64 into minecraft" explains it more in depth.

The farlands were moved beyond the edge of the world in beta 1.8 so you would need a mod that either moves them back or extends the world border if you wanted to do that
