gg no re, eric...i cant believe rhodey is a skrull and now gravik has extremis...super skrulls are coming, question is when did rhodey get replaced by a skrull?
Felt like a call back to pulpfiction when vincent vega and Jules Winnfield had a convversation about europe vs america's perspective on everyday life (opening scene)😂
I knew Rhodey was a skrull when he only entertained Fury enough to ask him to “call our friends,” only to be FURIOUS at his refusal, he was trying to harvest DNA from the avengers and was upset he denied him the chance
@@UltimateNut yeah he acted like he was so concerned and the avengers needed to be called in but when they weren’t he switched up and said he didn’t believe Fury and that he was a screwup. Seems he was being duplicitous long before he called him Nick
When Talos says “Humans are most formidable when they are threatened by a common foe” is somewhat similar to the warning The Others gave Thanos when he said “To challenge humans is to court Death”
I don’t think there’s any problem with Talos telling Fury all he has is owed to him. It might be more impactful, as Talos is quite literally a dog to Fury. He “trained” him, “fed” him, and “tamed” him. Also, calling Talos mediocre is a bit of a discredit to his character. :/
I think Erik is right that no glasses Fury is a skrull and that comment that sent Talos on his rant was clearly meant to antagonize Talos into revealing what he thinks and how he feels about Fury. Similar to Fury's probing question later about why didn't Talos take Gravik's deal and asking him to expand on the reason why. I don't think the Fury skrull is Talos's wife, but I think he's definitely a skrull.
The same way you feel that discredits Talos’ character is the same way other people feel that he discredited Fury, it just doesn’t relate to you so you don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s really that simple.
@@OldSparksor he didn't make anything up. So don't be so salty that the truth was spoken about Fury that you insult the messenger. It really is that simple
The problem is that this was retconned in just for this series, they've gone and undermined Fury's earlier accomplishments to further their point that Fury is "not the same".
Gravik's "hatred" of Fury/humans makes me really believe at one point he viewed Fury as a father figure. Fury's absence and failure to fulfill the promise led Gravik down this aggressive path. Also the time spent observing Fury as helped foster Gravik's tactical and calculated appproach, which why he appears to also be 3 steps ahead just like Fury. Also I found the conversations avout dogs interesting and in how both conversations Gravik and Fury were pro dogs as opposed to Talos. For me this again shows how much like Fury Gravik is. I would not be surprised to see a flashback at some point to Fury & Gravik playing with a dog. Unless the other Fury is actually Gravik, which I dont think it is.
Fury would anticipate that. He'd know how good Gravik really is, I've noticed after the bombing Gravik has only had thwarted plans or minor victories. Only way I'm seeing this could be explained is two Furys. And alot of the conversations we hear only partially especially over the phone, we can only assume context.
@@xickyr1611 honestly yea. I didn’t see anything “green” on his outfit during his restaurant scene w Fury and the was he acted earlier just made me think he wasn’t a skrull. I’m not totally surprised but yea i was leaning that his ass was of the non reptilian variety.
@@TheMagicalScientist The flower on the table during the conversation between Fury en Rhodey was green. So i feel like it doesn't need to be on the clothes, but something in the vicinity. Another interesting thing might be that we only see Green with Skrull Villains, since neither Giah and Talos have something green.
It’s possible fury’s glasses are based on EDITH technology, which would allow him to do whatever the EDITH glasses could do, such as see what people are doing on their phones. After all, Fury was holding onto the EDITH glasses for a while and definitely could have had the opportunity to borrow the technology.
17:07 the implication that I got here is that when taking a humans memories, a Skrull would also “inherit” that persons emotional connections to others. Since so much of our emotional relationships with others are based on our experiences and memories with them.
I'm gonna assume it was some time after Endgame that Rhodey was taken and placed in one of those pods we just haven't seen. They can't ruin all the good moments from the Infinity Saga with Rhodey being Skrull all along
I assume that the rest of the million skrulls went to Earth after the blip but before Endgame, so that could work. He was still Rhodey up to at least that point.
I can point out the big issue on the sub from experience. When 2 keys are required to drop a bomb or shoot a missile they 2 key locks are never side by side. They are always atleast 8 feet apart. If they were side by side 1 person can just turn both keys making the precaution of 2 keys pointless, so they put them further apart than 1 person can reach both to ensure that no 1 person can initiate the launch
4:27 The plot was real. If G’iah wasn’t the mole, it would have gone ahead as planned. Gravik just isn’t as disappointed as you’d expect because because there was a still a victory won, which was s finding out for sure who was the mole
The strike on the plane wasn’t a bogus plot: they still wanted it to go through, but the failure of it isn’t critical. It was more critical to find the mole. If they could have done that and executed the strike, they would have been happy.
i hope glasses/no glasses means something, and i agree that making rhodey a skrull from way back would diminish some of that character’s plot points/ development
I'd just like to point out that the cleaning up after the dog isn't done for the dogs benefit it's done for the human benefit. We clean it so other people don't step in it or have to deal with the smell.
An interesting detail is that Nick Fury recommending Talos to impersonate Bob opens the door to Skrulls not only impersonating humans but also impersonating each other. This would mean that supposedly allied skrulls like Talos and Fury’s wife could be imposters while any of Gravik’s skrulls could also be impostors.
That and they wouldn't be very good imposters. The neural link thingie is what makes them so perfect (to the point of the skrull impersonating Bob actually cared for his son, having [access to] all his memories). Without it they make mistakes ("Nick").
Was there ever any doubt that a skrull could shapeshift into another skrull? They are shapeshifters. In the comics they can take the form of animals and also inanimate objects. If they could only shapeshift into humans it would be a pretty useless skill anywhere else in the universe other than earth.
@@Ialreadyhaveaname2 that line of thought actually had me thinking, that if their species evolved to have that ability, to even copy each other, would they also have evolved to somehow detect a shift? Like, is the constant risk of facing an imposter just something their world had to live with, or could they "smell" (or some other, maybe even 6th or 27th, sense) that the person before them was not their actual partner/friend/neighbour? Seems like at least once their species evolved to have (begining with primitive) societies, that should have been a necessary skill to develop. No?
That ending with Rhodey being revealed as a Skull! It was sooo good! I hope he wasn't a skrull when Tony Stark died though. The real Rhodey should have been the one that was there when Tony died.
I wouldn't hold my breath, this is going to end up being a contained story inside of the MCU, basically after it happens we arent going to hear or see anything else about it again.
Just a small correction at 2:40, it says "Reamputation Strategy" that we see later with Gravik using the Extremis abilities. The timeline says: Amputation (early phase depletion) -> -> Reamputation (40 days)
Not sure if you've mentioned this in a previous episode, but the glasses seem like they could easily be a reference to 'They Live' allowing Fury to see the Skrulls as they are.
I think it's because this is 6 eps, others are 8-9, and when these shows are 8-9 we get 2-3 mostly filler episodes, including almost always the penultimate episode and like the 3rd episode
@NewRockstars 1:46 The rank of Ensign (ENS) is wrongly used here. In the Royal Navy(and many commonwealth navies), the equivalent rank to Ensign(US Navy) is Midshipman/Acting Sub-Lieutenant. at 1:47 the rank of Captain is also used wrongly here. In any Naval Service, the rank of Captain is reserved for senior officers. These officers are usually commanders of the ship/naval base. The proper rank to be used here is Lieutenant (Navy) as its the equivalent to an army/air force Captain. At 1:48 the use of LCDR is wrong here, although it is the proper rank, Lieutenant Commanders in the Royal Navy are shortened to Lt Cdr LCDR is the American version. Also at 4:03ish of Episode 3, if you look at the rank slide of the "Ensign" and Captain" it is the wrong one, both of them are wearing the Sub-Lieutenant rank slides. The officer who is using their launch key with the Lt Cdr is the only one who is wearing the proper rank slides which are that of a Lieutenant.
Maybe the skrull DNA would be the key for Reed Richards inventing their own suits which can adapt to anything... like the shape shifting ability of a skrull
Rody being a skrull felt too easy, he was going off at fury, I was going to say for no reason, but he went off on him in a way rody wound't do, so it made it pretty easy to pinpoint him as a skrull
In every episode, you can feel that either Talos would be a leader of sorts to a faction, or die in betrayal. Both ways i feel it'd be against and because of Fury. But that's good episodic tv...keeping us on our toes, paying attention to dialogue, and action, and the subtle things.
2 Furys and recent impostor Rhodes are a high possibility. After all, Skrulls can learn some of the minds and emotions of the people they take place off.
Maybe Fury #2 is an LMD? It would be interesting that Fury has been using LMDs to counteract the Skrull ability to assume people’s identities. Presumably Skrull’s wouldn’t be able to replace LMDs as they wouldn’t interface with the fracking pods. It’s wishful thinking, but I’m hoping Maria Hill that got killed was an LMD.
That scene where their inerogating Bob and Fury shoots him in the knee reminded me of the famous scene from Pulp Fiction. Kinda sad Eric didn't mention that
Apologies if this has been mentioned...at 12:43 of THIS video in the scene where "Gravik" uses extremis to heal his wound after being stabbed by Talos, his blood (to me seems Red) anyone else notice this bit? If he was Skrull his blood should have been Purple like the others. Now becoming a Super Skrull, I assume changes the blood to Red?
He did at 3:30 but he called it "flaming on". Im honestly questioning whether or not Voss should even bother to do these if he's going to be so ignorant.
I think Rhodey being a skrull is a red herring. And people keep mentioning how he called Fury "Nick" during that conversation, but he called him "Fury" about 4 times in the conversation first. He didn't call him Nick until the end. I took it as Rhodey trying to talk to Fury as a friend at first, but when it comes time to tell Fury that he is fired, he switches from friend to speaking on behalf of the government and calls him Nick. I could be completely wrong, but I can't wait to find out.
Ikr, I don't understand why people highlight that one time Rhodey called him Nick and then ignore the fact that he was calling him Fury a few moments ago.
@2:45 Reads to me “Reamputation Strategy” rather than “Recomputation” so maybe they cut parts of the skrull body off, infuse them with the genetic powered material and then rely on the Extremis to make the skrull whole again?
Preach. This phase has the 3 hardest sells in storytelling: 1)time travel 2)multiple universal entanglements 3) shape shifters. You can lose an audience quick with these topics. Hope they stick the landing
14:20 I like the fact it's Tony Curran's role in Doctor Who that is mentioned but not his four other Marvel roles in Blade II, X-Men First Class, the season 2 Daredevil episode Penny and Dime or Thor the Dark World.
Look into when Rhodes tell Fury where to meet, you'll see someone from the back "aggressively" approaching him which could be a sign when he was replaced.
So far Gravik and his Skulls have taken out more important characters than most MCU villains: apparently Agent Ross, Agent Hill, Talos' daughter, and apparently War Machine as well
I can't be the only one that has noticed that sometimes Fury has an additional scar on his temple and sometimes he doesn't. In past features before Secret Invasion it was never there at all but if there are in fact 2 Fury's this might be a tell tale as to which is real and which is a Skrull.
I'm actually a big fan of Mythology and love the episode even more for how it references it. I knew literally everything that was said about Greek Mythology here.
I think the submarine thing is fairly self explanatory. There’s a clear chain of command showing the strike was legitimately ordered and with the Peime Minister in Gravik’s pocket shed just fan the flames even more
Rewatching Endgame just now - Rocket: “Who here’s never been to space?” EVERYONE in the back row but Rhodey put their hands up immediately and Rhodey even musters this funny “keep up the act” confused shrug before putting his hand up. I’m definitely on team Rhodey’s a Skrull now if I wasn’t before.
When they were on the train in EP2, they were in eastern Europe. When they met in England again in EP3, Talos was talking about 'Yesterday', but Fury went to the USA between those 2 moments... There must be multiple Nick's on the field
I want to believe Rhodes isnt a skrull & hes just trying to get ahead of things. But wouldnt it be hillarious if he just shows up as terrance howard like ive been here all along!
i think Rhodey has been a Skrull since shortly after Civil War - i think the real one never healed from that injury and thats why he seems to be walking around so well now. Makes sense
I think he had to be replaced more after that. Tony would have definitely x-rayed his legs and was there most of the time for his recovery I'd guess so maybe after the blip the Skrulls started to really snatch people before they could get back into society
A couple of thoughts : 1st- red blood & purple blood…not dead. 2nd- Scene at bar, Talso pronounced his name “Ti-los” , Fury says “Ta-los”. A point made about “nobody calls me Nick” later in the episode. I feel this will come up later, to know if & when Fury is not Fury. A Skrull will call Talso, “Ti-los”…then you know it is not Fury.
In one of the first secret invasion trailers. Didn't we see two different nick fury beam down from space? So far we haven't seen that scene yet of the second nick but I'd agree there are deff two walking around. It would actually help him in the long run if two nicks were walking around.
Agree. I think that both sides are trying to infiltrate the other with any means possible. So Rhodey does not have to be a Skrull, he could just be using Priscilla the same way as Gravik used G'iah. Everything is possible though.
It may be... It might not be... It is, yet it isn't; I knew that it wasn't Fury, especially how he apologized to Talos, I don't see him saying something like that to hurt someone that has been posing AS him. I think Talos knows it, too
The English breakfast scene was the real Fury. They left that place then immediately did a mission. Fury said stuff an imposter wouldn’t know. Skrulls need that memory machine.

Yeah he never mentioned it and idk why
This is what I keep sayin. I think Rhodes is a misdirect cuz it’d be way too obvious
I don’t know more then calling him nick. Skrulls speak more humble look down a lot. I agree but I feel like he got switched later then we think
Ikr, I don't understand why people highlight that one time Rhodey called him Nick and then ignore the fact that he was calling him Fury a few moments ago.
true he was feeling fury still friend before firing him so he called him fury, and after firing he called him nick because they aint friend anymore
I agree, noway Rhodey is a Skrull but the best thing is to make it look like he is a Skrull so he can redeem himself later.
@2:45 Reads to me “Reamputation Strategy” rather than “Recomputation” so maybe they cut parts of the skrull body off, infuse them with the genetic powered material and then rely on the Extremis to make the skrull whole again?
I always thought the exchange between Rodey and Cpt Marvel in Endgame was interesting.
If by that you mean him knowing about skulls same which is why I think he is not a skrull honestly
They dated in the comics 🤷🏼♀️
6:59 Im convinced that Fury accessed Varra's phone with the spy glasses here.
Waited all day for this 😭🙏
THANKS for this, Erik and NR!!!!!!
Haha, yelling out "SUGAR" in the style of Edgar or the alien wearing an Eggar suit really cracked me up.
I hope there is going to be a big plot twist ,it would be cool.
def there will be
Preach. This phase has the 3 hardest sells in storytelling: 1)time travel 2)multiple universal entanglements 3) shape shifters. You can lose an audience quick with these topics. Hope they stick the landing
Only god knows how you guys manage to find all these details ❤
IV BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ITS ABOUT TIME 😩
I like that you gave a shoutout to the behind the scenes people. very nice.
If you really think Giah is dead I highly suggest rewatching the trailers
Eric literally stated this in the video lol.
@@xickyr1611 I know…..
been waiting all day for this!
Rhodrey also called him NICK in the last episode too
14:20 I like the fact it's Tony Curran's role in Doctor Who that is mentioned but not his four other Marvel roles in Blade II, X-Men First Class, the season 2 Daredevil episode Penny and Dime or Thor the Dark World.
Wait -- Who was he in Blade II and First Class? I watched those series several times and don't remember at all
Look into when Rhodes tell Fury where to meet, you'll see someone from the back "aggressively" approaching him which could be a sign when he was replaced.
9:32 “sugar .. and water” great MIB reference 😂
Keep up the good work
Mendelsohn's laugh in the car scene gave me life!!
I'm actually a big fan of Mythology and love the episode even more for how it references it. I knew literally everything that was said about Greek Mythology here.
I just finished the episode and saw the notification of the episode
Bout time was waiting all day
I think the submarine thing is fairly self explanatory.
Doesn't mean that Rhodey was a Skrull all the way back in "Endgame", though. He could've been replaced at any point after that, too.
The scene where Fury takes a sip of his drink in a green glass sure seems telling
When they were on the train in EP2, they were in eastern Europe. When they met in England again in EP3, Talos was talking about 'Yesterday', but Fury went to the USA between those 2 moments... There must be multiple Nick's on the field
Or they got that detail wrong, just like in Homecoming when it said 8 years later.
2:41 I believe it says “Reamputation Strategy”, probably has to do with cutting a limb of a skrull/super skrull
So when Talos grabbed Gravik, he didn't notice that he was surrounded by Skrulls. So Skrulls can't spot other Skrulls in disguise? Weird.
Second time. When he fought the smrull that fury Shit and killed it seemed as if he did not know he was a shrill untik the physical altercation began
14:18 ALSO 🤚 He played DESPERO on The Flash (R.I.P.) ARMAGEDDON crossover
I want to believe Rhodes isnt a skrull & hes just trying to get ahead of things. But wouldnt it be hillarious if he just shows up as terrance howard like ive been here all along!
Love this guy's takes.
3:57 can't believe RUclips needs you to blur this 😂
i think Rhodey has been a Skrull since shortly after Civil War - i think the real one never healed from that injury and thats why he seems to be walking around so well now. Makes sense
Nah, Rhodey was replaced after the first Ironman. That's why he looks so different. 😂
I think he had to be replaced more after that. Tony would have definitely x-rayed his legs and was there most of the time for his recovery I'd guess so maybe after the blip the Skrulls started to really snatch people before they could get back into society
@@lightdarksoul2097plus he fell and bled out of his nose so civil war is out of the question. I think Rhodes is a bait anyway and he’s not
“It’s also possible that Soren is just DEAD”
-Eric Voss
2023
@17:35 Come on, Voss. This is Marvel - they'll all get super powers. LOL
Yo can we all acknowledge that Gravik is a SAVAGE
He learned it from FURY
Yup, killed 2 females…real savage
It’s the actor, he’s so damn good at playing Gravik 👏🏼
He's an angry kid in a world of men.
You had some very good points
A quite short episode this week, but enjoyed it. Still one of the best Marvel shows to date.
Been waiting for this the whole day
That wasnt Flame on, it was the Extremist power from IM3
So one question…why gravik blood is red and not purple at 12:42
A couple of thoughts : 1st- red blood & purple blood…not dead.
Talos saying "Ti-los" could just be because of his accent.
@@xickyr1611 Could be, could be…But my multi-pinned bulletin board is saying something else…🤨
fury and thalos acting like an old married couple 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This series is SO damn good, I'm hoping whoever said that it'll be only 6 episodes is just some random Skrull messing with us...
2:42 I’m pretty sure that says “reamputation strategy”
In one of the first secret invasion trailers. Didn't we see two different nick fury beam down from space? So far we haven't seen that scene yet of the second nick but I'd agree there are deff two walking around. It would actually help him in the long run if two nicks were walking around.
Been waiting all day for this
Rhodey doesn't have to be a Skrull here. It's possible Priscilla owes Gravik a check-in and Rhodey is preventing it.
Agree. I think that both sides are trying to infiltrate the other with any means possible. So Rhodey does not have to be a Skrull, he could just be using Priscilla the same way as Gravik used G'iah. Everything is possible though.
"No antagonist can use apple products"
"Okay, no free advertising for apple. We will just use android."
It may be...
It might not be...
It is, yet it isn't; I knew that it wasn't Fury, especially how he apologized to Talos, I don't see him saying something like that to hurt someone that has been posing AS him.
I think Talos knows it, too
Fury was so vulnerable in this episode something we never seen before.
RIGHT!
The English breakfast scene was the real Fury. They left that place then immediately did a mission. Fury said stuff an imposter wouldn’t know. Skrulls need that memory machine.
Fury could have a skrull working with him that's impersonating him as well, that way he could be in two places at once.
