    This video is amazing! Alarm going off past 10pm at night and after some frantic searching, this was the solution I needed. With a torch, pliers and a clip I got it done and the neighbours and our house can sleep.
    Thank you so much for this detailed video!!!!

    Thank you so much. I did this this morning. Only thing was, I had to degrease the plug to get the tape to stick. Little bit of copper electrical wire did the trick. 👍

    Go to 8:05 guys, switch plug removal.
    Thanks for the vid, it is very helpful, my one started playing few months ago but it's getting more often and Ive noticed "bonnet open" light on the dashboard so I thought it's the switch causing this. Thanks!
    BTW, I like your washer fluid cap, no more mess, good stuff! 👍😊

    ive had my LR32 for about 3 months now and its only recently i realised that it was definitely the bonnet that was the problem. so thank you for the advice and i will get out and do the deed in a few hours.......

    Great video. Solved problem to bonnet signal that said bonnet open. Easy fix .I have now ordered new part. Will figure how to fit it without taking the bumpers off. It maybe a bit fiddly but I determined to solve the problem without a large gararge bill
    Thanks again.Graham

    If you want a really quick fix that takes two minutes just bear the wires before they go into the switch and twist them together.

    The last two nights have been the first nights I've been able to have my car locked in silence, it's lovely😊

    so i know i have already posted but i just wanted to say a big massive thank you. its taken awhile because I'd been way too busy since 6 days back (thought it had been longer to be honest). so anyway, just got round to doing as you suggested and it works a treat. locked the car with the hood up and no alarm. 3 sodding months of searching the net trying to find the solution (or sell the car) and now its done. of course, if the alarm goes off again............. Kidding, you're a star buddy

    Just so people are aware, it's very easy to remove the sensor itself, pop the driver side Headlight out (2 10mm bolts and a push catch at the rear) Headlight out you can see the plastic sensor under the lastch, small flat head screwdriver to remove the sensor and a replacement is £15

    Is there any chance you could do a short or long video about the scuttle drain why it is so high at its sides and the drain down the wheel arch, because I am confused why it is funnel shaped and stand up about 1-2 inches?? my concern is water having to get that deep to drain??? or am I wrong 🙂

    • @BeavisPits
      @BeavisPits  2 года назад +1

      There are small holes below the wiper shafts. They are often hidden by dirt. These holes drain the scuttle into the funnels below, which in turn drain into the wheel arches. I’ll try to do a quick video on this soon.

    Is there a ultrasonic sensor in the car

    • @BeavisPits
      @BeavisPits  2 года назад +4

      There is yes, but that only activates when you lock twice. Pressing once puts it into “dog mode” which is locked without ultrasonic cabin coverage.

    I have code B112C-87 Interior Motion Sensor , I disconnected the sensor but the code still shows. Could it be the bonnet catch generating this code?

    • @BeavisPits
      @BeavisPits  5 месяцев назад

      The bonnet sensor is just a switch so doesn’t throw a code. Disconnecting the ultrasonic motion sensor may well throw an error code, in a similar way to when a parking centre is disconnected it detect it and beeps with a flashing light on the button.

    • @Dark_Starr2030
      @Dark_Starr2030 5 месяцев назад

      @@BeavisPits what if I short the connector to the motion sensor, would that stop it throwing a code and tripping the alarm?

    • @BeavisPits
      @BeavisPits  5 месяцев назад

      @@Dark_Starr2030 I wouldn’t do that, the motion sensor is an ultrasonic transmitter, it should not be shorted out. You need to replace the sensor. Note, the ultrasonic interior motion detection is only enabled when you lock the car twice with the keyfob.

    • @Dark_Starr2030
      @Dark_Starr2030 5 месяцев назад

      @@BeavisPits I shorted the bonnet switch this morning after watching your video, I’ll see if my random alarming stops before I replace the motion sensor. I only ever lock with one press btw.

    To replace catch and switch….
    The original is a two part, catch and switch. No longer available, so buy a replacement catch/switch, £15 to £30.
    Lift bonnet and remove RHS headlamp unit, 2 10mm screws + plastic latch, leave to one side
    Remove bonnet slam panel screws (across the top/front). 4 10mm screws this will allow the panel to flex maybe 75 mm
    Reach through the headlamp aperture and behind the slam panel and remove catch assembly 2 10mm screws. you have about 75mm of working space + panel flex
    Ease the catch assembly forward into the space and remove the electrical plug, pliers, screwdriver, cursing
    Remove the catch release cable from its clips behind the slam panel to give working slack
    Ease the catch assembly with cable attached up through the gap behind the slam panel and then work on the catch assembly on top of the slam panel
    Remove the cable from the catch assembly, lever it with a screwdriver, don’t damage the rubber grommets
    “Close” the new catch assembly by pressing the catch with the bar of a screwdriver
    Insert the catch cable into the new catch assembly, test that the bonnet release cable now opens the new catch
    Ease the new assembly back down past the gap behind the slam panel and re-seat the catch cable in its clips
    Re-attach the catch wiring plug to the new assembly, check the dashboard for “bonnet open” warning
    Re-attach the new catch assembly to the bulkhead, 2 10mm screws. Re-check functionality without lowering bonnet
    Re-attach the headlamp, 2 10mm screws
    Wash hands

    Hi everyone just done this to my freelander 2, looked like the person before me tried to do this. If the alarm still goes off in the night after doing this, what else could it be, please ? I have some neighbours who aren't happy about the alarms going off 🙃 😅

    • @BeavisPits
      @BeavisPits  3 месяца назад

      First check the PO did this correctly (try to lock car with bonnet open). Then you’ll need to check the boot and door switches. It could also be an insect in the ultrasonic sensor but AFAIK that only enables if you press lock twice.
