    Great review! My ADV160 is like yours with a top box. I really think this is the best overall small displacement scooter you can get. Very practical, has enough power to get around, tons of storage, and in my opinion looks great. With its versatility I find it hard pressed to consider any of the other alternatives. I find any excuse to run errands with it. Im in the states so I also have a CB500x which I think makes a great pair with this scooter for the longer hauls. Out of all the literal 30+ bikes I've owned through the years, I think its safe to say these bikes are keepers for the foreseeable future. Ride safe!

    Great video as usual! I was up in Valencia today and talked to a guy with an ADV 160 that had the same seat as yours. He let me sit on it, and I was absolutely amazed at how much more comfortable it is than the stock one which irritates my butt big time. It’s definitely on my wish list.

    Hi Mark, great video. I also have an ADV160 in San Carlos, Neg. Occ. but am still living/working in Australia until I build my house in Phils. I'm really interested in the mods you have done to your ADV. I also noticed the seat on mine is not very comfortable, having toured from San Carlos to Bias and on to Valencia (Forest Camp) and return. We also done day trips in to the mountains near San Carlos, like the monkey sanctuary at Calatrava etc. Anyway, great video and useful info. My name is Mark also.

    Great video, I like the look of all these colour options - congrats on your bike and thx for sharing. You got a great deal @ P162,000, 2k savings is great to go towards your upgrades. I like the option of the seat upgrade over the stock one for sure, to me this type of bike should be a standard stock item. Doing that CVT upgrade - does it effect warranty? The SEC box looks awesome, where did you get it and the bracket? You mentioned dual horns, a must - what type did you go for? - do you have a switch over or ... You mentioned Joseph who works out of Raddi near Foodnet on the way out of Duma towards Robinsons did the work - what did he actually install for you, time frame did it take for him get these items done for you - cost wise as well??? thx Is the big foot just a slide on for side stand

    • @ridingtheislandswithharro6581
      @ridingtheislandswithharro6581  9 месяцев назад

      Hi, Apologies for the late reply 🙏. Changing the cvt may affect the warranty, i’m not sure. These bikes are fairly bulletproof. The horns Inuse are Piaa, loud like a bus lol.
      Joseph has left Raddi so i just use Honda now. The bigfoot is a slide on with allen key bolts, well worth getting one.
      Cost to change the cvt over is around p350 pesos. I just bought everything online from Lazada and got him to fit them all

    Nice review. Thank you. I have a question though regarding the CVT upgrade? Does that change your top end speed? I would imagine it does. And probably also affects the gas mileage in a negative way. I’m curious to know the answer to those questions. It sounds like it may be worth the trade regardless. PS. I am a brand new expat to Chiang Mai as of three days ago though, I’ve been here several times over the years for months at a time. I’m very excited as this morning my girlfriend is coming to pick me up to take me to buy my pearl blue 160 ADV!! 😅

    • @ridingtheislandswithharro6581
      @ridingtheislandswithharro6581  8 месяцев назад +2

      Hi, Thanks for asking about the JV T CVT upgrade. Top speed is comprised a little but I still managed approx 110kph. Filling up the tank is cheap and I suppose gas mileage depends on throttle twist lol. The main advantage of the upgrade is acceleration to pass so whatever extra gas it uses was inconsequential to me to be honest.
      Congrats on getting a new ADV ! enjoy !

    Couple questions if you don't mind?
    1) With those mods would you ride it say around Mindanao, 200-300km per day for a couple weeks? Or still more of a Duma up to Twin Lakes or down to Siaton distance round trip?
    2) Any other mods on your mind to improve comfort or performance?
    3) Have you looked at the Kymcos (they at the Kawasaki dealer), specifically the DT-X360 350? Another 'Adventure' scooter like the ADV 160 but is it worth another p100k (is it 100k better for longer rides)?

    • @ridingtheislandswithharro6581
      @ridingtheislandswithharro6581  Год назад +3

      Hi, I’d ride the adv anywhere and all day but usually i limit my riding to about 5 -6 hrs per day, e.g Dumageute to Cebu Coty in one day.
      Kymco scooters look great but for me i’d esther stick to a well known brand and as such Inhave a Yamaha xmax 300 for longer hauls as i’m bigger and like to stretch my legs a bit more. The ADV is a little restrictive as far as leg room goes compared to the bigger scooter. If you really want to travel around spend the money and get the bigger one as comfort is the priority. If you aren’t so tall or heavy then the ADV will be fine for anywhere you want to go. Please note that the bigger scooters are much heavier by approximately 50kg. Good luck

    I want to buy the new 2024 model ADV 160, but its not available yet where I live. They have the 2023 model, but it is unknown when (or even if) they will get the 2024 model. I see there are some differences (new engine is slightly more powerful, 4 valves instead of 2, 2 liters more underseat storage, higher adjustable windscreen, slightly lower seat). What do you suggest - better to wait until the upgrade is available? Or, just get the 2023 model - differences are not noticeable? And, I am curious if you test-rode the PCX 160 and have any comments on the pros and cons compared to the ADV 160?

    • @ridingtheislandswithharro6581
      @ridingtheislandswithharro6581  4 месяца назад

      Hi Matt, The 2023 model has the 160cc engine like the PCX which has 4 valves per cylinder so no need to wait around for the 2024 model in my opinion especially if you do the upgrades I recommended even if you do the fly weights changeover you will notice a lot of acceleration improvement. Seats can be modified or changed over to suit easily.

      @@ridingtheislandswithharro6581 Thanks for this great reply! I am confused and need to do some more research. First, Honda dealerships here led me to believe that the 2023 model is 150 cc. Later I was told that the 2023 model here indeed is 160 cc, but didn't have those upgrades yet (more powerful engine, 4 valves not 2, 30 liter underseat storage, higher windscreen, etc.). Then just yesterday I heard from another YTer that the 2024 model IS available here with all the upgrades (at least at a Honda dealership in a different city here). I will have to go back to Honda and hopefully can get to the bottom of this!

    You're the guy I want to know! I just watched a video with you and "everyone has a story". I'm currently living in Panajachel Guatemala and am planning on moving to the Philippines as soon as I can. (probably about 9 months)
    I've been researching bikes there as I've had 4 here in Guatemala and what I really want to do is ride all over the country. I've pretty much done that here and there's too much traffic and the roads are horrible. The town that I live in has become like NYC in the last two years. I did something that I haven't done since I lived in Brooklyn and I moved out of there in 1993. (I approached a driver looking to fight him)
    The bikes I'm looking at are the Kawasaki Versys 300X and a scooter. I've been going down a rabbit hole of scooters and decided the Honda ADV would be the one I want to get first. But I have questions. I've heard that it takes a while to get a plate so you have to wait to a few months before you can ride your brand new bike. Is this true? If so, I guess I'll hit the ground running and buy a cheap ass used scooter first, then get a new one and wait. Where is a good place to find good bikes?
    Currently, I've got a shitty little Italika Scooter 125 that's held together with zip ties, but damn that thing starts up every day and gets me around town. I have a Chinese knock off Adventure bike for when I need to leave town. (TMR Cyclone 200) So I want a grocery getter scooter for most of my local riding, and an adventure bike for the Philippine Loop. Maybe by the time I get there, Kawasaki will make the Versys the 4 cyl 400cc that's in the Ninja.
    I was also looking at the CB500X, but I like my bikes light and nimble and not too fast. You see, I have a speeding problem so it's best for me to have slower vehicles. If I get to meet you in person next year, ask me about my 92 CBR 600.
    Thanks,
    Dave

      Id love the ADV 350 but to be honest I don’t think Honda will ever bring it here. The ADV 160 is a great little bike and is different to the 150. I did a lot of riding two up on the 150 and it was fine but towards the end of using it I wanted something different. I’ve lapped Siquihor a few times on the ADV 150 and enjoyed it, lay back island that it is. I’ve taken the xmax 300 on lots of ferries too and it’s reasonably light but can be heavy to manoeuvre and pu on the centre stand, it weighs 180 kg, 50 heavier than an Nmax. Stayed at coco grove in Siquihor, very nice resort, cheers
