      I'm here in Thailand trying to decide between the ADV160 or 350. Can I ask if you think you would like the 350 as much as the 160, or any potential drawbacks in moving up to the 350? Thanks

    • @ViiMarsik
      @ViiMarsik 11 месяцев назад

      @@paulietv2162the 350 is much fatter and heavier, if you plan on lane splitting at red lights and stuff like that go for the 160. If you live in the mountains or there's barely any traffic where you live then you could consider the 350.
      Keep in mind, if you are often going to ride with a second person, the 160 can manage well, but the 350 would have a noticable upgrade in acceleration and power.

    Ridding a Kymco Like 200i ( 2012 ) has a 164 cc engine and 12.5 hp. I am 79 now but have been looking at the Honda ADV for my next ride. Enjoying your video, all I have to do now is justify the cost. The best my Kymco has done is a little over 80 mpg and can cruise at 50 mph and top speed is in the 55+ range. Big choice to make, time is short. Problem is the dealer in Kingman AZ is a Harley shop and does nothing to promote Honda's or Yamaha's.

    heck yeah!! Just got mine today! loving it! my only gripe is the seat height since I'm at 5'7" over here. I'm gonna have to address that with rear springs or a custom seat or both. Otherwise It's damn near a perfect bike. Funny, I started with a vulcan 750, then my 2nd bike was a rebel 250, and now my third is the adv150. Power ain't everything. This type of bike is pure riding in a simple and badass looking package.

    it's interesting to me that bike culter in the US or North America don't consider scooters as a "motorcycle", scooters are either an afterthought or just a different category altogether. In where I live scooters are put in the same category of any other motorcycle and scooters dominate the road in terms of motorized 2 wheel vehicles, it's also given the same respect as any other motorcycle.
    I randomly came acroos your're channel and I appreciate what I have been seeing in terms of scooter content, it's so refreshing to see someone in that part of the world, on where bike culture is different and scooters aren't seen as how we see it, make content about scooters. Enjoy the ADV, it's currently one of the best selling scooters in his category, adventure scooters, in this part of the world, they already have the ADV 160 version out in the market over here.

      In America most guys tie what they ride to their masculinity. They think riding a scooter makes them less of a man….lol Myself, I don’t care what they think. I ride what I enjoy.

    • @spinnetti
      @spinnetti Год назад +1

      True, in the US, scooters are looked down on as not "manly" or only for college kids that can't afford a car. You almost never see scooters where I live - only fat old guys on Harleys when they aren't in their stupid enormous trucks and a few sport bikes (any motorcycle is dangerous here due to the extremely bad, incompetent drivers and huge trucks/SUVs everybody has so bikes are rare on the street). My wife wanted it just to explore back roads (we also cycle) but I think its a very practical machine too.

Sold everything when I got kids but since picked up an adv160. Absolutely love it. Light and easy to ride. Setting up and taking out my big bikes was a chore. Its great to take it out for short trips and errands. I have a box in the back and along with under the seat, provides enough storage for a cart full of groceries. And yes i love the looks of it. I wish we had the 350 here in the states so i can try, but the extra weight might put me off, but would be nice to have both maybe lol.

      What does the weight of a bike have to do with safety?

    • @jimw7916
      @jimw7916 10 месяцев назад +3

      @@GasWorksISO where do I start? more stability less wind deflection, more mass so more able to stay on course where you point it, heavier so more pounds per square inch for tire to road adhesion, therefore safer braking and handling in wet conditions, heavier bikes are usually longer so even more stability and handling on highways etc. Usually, a heavier larger bike will have a more stable rake angle on the forks. Sounds crazy but if you did happen to hit something your body will fair better, injury wise. They are generally a larger profile , making it that tiny bit easier to be spotted by other drivers. A larger motor usually has a heavier or larger flywheel, helping to "smooth out" the power delivery, making it slightly safer in slippery conditions. Heavy bikes have wider tires. plus ask any Harley rider, they are actually EASIER and more relaxing to ride. I could go on, but it has taken me a lifetime to realize this as I used to be a light bike lover most of my life, but I urge you to try some experiments and you may well agree with me.

    • @GasWorksISO
      @GasWorksISO  9 месяцев назад +1

      Other than being slightly easier for other vehicles to see, there are no safety advantages of larger motorcycles. A riders safety is 99% dependent on themselves, not the bike. Ultimately it’s us that put ourselves in dangerous situations. Awareness determines probability.

    I do think that scooter is very nice scooter personally though I ended up going with the Honda super cub 125 so I bought it used with 9 miles on it for $3300 so new I think this particular scooter that you have I think is about $6000 new which for a vehicle is not bad And it does go a little faster and it can take two passengers and a box on the back and with my cub I have to choose between a rear seat or a box on the back it does not have room for both. But for me that’s OK because I’m not carrying any passengers and my top speed with all of my accessories on it is 50 to 55 miles an hour slower if you’re going uphill faster if you’re going downhill, but I do really like the fact that the cup has gears and you have to use them, but you don’t have to manipulate the clutch with your left hand so that’s pretty cool And I’m under the impression that since it is a standard it’s slightly more reliable overtime as far as the transmission is concerned, but I was told that the Cvt transmission in this vehicle is very reliable as well so for reasons of price and having to use gears, I went with the cub but I do think this scooter is very sexy no homo

    I also ride several motorcycles and like you my driving is almost all urban commuting to work or running errands. My Piaggio Liberty 150 ABS is more fun than my "serious" bikes. I can park on the sidewalk here in Berkeley and Oakland, California and nobody cares. Lastly the Liberty is an unattractive bike, which I prefer due to being less attractive to steal and not getting bent if a car tips it over as I bought it used at a steep discount. I find it amusing that you could have replaced "motorcycle" with "bicycle" in your video. I have a serious bicycle but running errands on my cheap beater bicycle is generally more fun than a serious multi-hour ride on a serious carbon frame race bicycle. For those riders that have a long freeway component in their everyday riding a larger cruiser-style motorcycle is obviously superior.

    How is general quality. I am a motorcycle detailer and I get lots of Honda scooters and other low end bikes to do from local garages and individuals and I am appalled at the corrosion. I know I live in wet Ireland but last week I had a year old Honda 125 that was riddled with rust. Guy was telling me that they are making them in China now and using low grade parts and paint/corrosion protection procedures and its showing.

    You left out one of the best advantages of a smaller displacement scooter - parking. You can park darn near anywhere and no one cares. I have parked on sidewalks, right beside the front doors of Walmarts and grocery stores and have even parked beside bicycle racks on the sidewalks of store fronts and no one has ever batted an eye or said a word. Try that with a Harley and see how long before it gets ticketed or even towed. With a scoot, no one even notices or cares if they do happen to notice.

      Ooops, I didn't pay attention to the end!!! Yep, that's the best part of owning a scoot,,,,,, Nobody cares. Nobody cares about much of anything you do on a scooter. They just think it is an old fart on a big moped and within a second or two you are forgotten.

    I own a 2022 Honda ADV 150 I bought new. With just about 3,000 miles of enjoying I went on vacation for😅 a week and come home to a No start scooter. I checked spark and it was fine. Having put a fresh tank of gas and a new battery in recent weeks I figured I was set to go. It’s in the Honda shop now. This is truly the first time I have ever heard my scooter starter crank over since owning🤔 We will see how long it takes to diagnose and repair.🙁 I’ve owned many Honda scooters over the years and this is the first time I’ve ever been let down.🫣 8:56

    If your location allows you get excited about going a whole 45mph, then brother, you have your bike! For other locations, like mine, 45mph quickly turns to 55mphm and beyond. You made _NO_ statements "of love" about the top-end speed of the ADV 150; I guess it's not that great, eh?

    • @GasWorksISO
      @GasWorksISO  11 месяцев назад +1

      It will hold 60mph with some to spare. It's a 150cc engine. it does exactly what I need it to do. I have other bikes if I want to go faster.
