Clarify: even with constitutional carry, you can't carry -inside the car- without a permit. Therefore, upon reaching one's destination, the non-permitted, constitutional carrier must retrieve their firearm and put it in the holster outside the car? Clarify.
790.001(15) “Securely encased” means in a glove compartment, whether or not locked; snapped in a holster; in a gun case, whether or not locked; in a zippered gun case; or in a closed box or container which requires a lid or cover to be opened for access. No permit with a pistol in the vehicle? Securely encase it! Have a permit? You can carry the firearm concealed on you. Doesn't take 21:15 to say that.

Are you a State Trooper? I dont think you are. IN a vehicle you dont need too have the gun locked up or unloaded. Almost all new vehicles dont have a locking console or glove box. I wear mine but when I drive through questionable area I put it on my lap. Since concealled carry certification is no longer necesary, I am more careful about my surroundings. I am licensed too carry. -
I come from a law enforcement military family I’ve been shooting ever since I was 5 years old . I learned this back in the 70s and 80s these are simple steps if you are unfamiliar with them go get training negligence of the law will never give you a free pass at a jail
I would love to hear how and what is expected of people from other states, that Florida recognizes as reprocity (?sp). I am a PA ccp holder and try to be up to date on each state but some have small hidden rules that almost seem in place to purposely catch us breaking them. Is printing an issue in Fl? Are their ammunition or capacity restrictions? I really like your video and wish each state would do something similar.
There is no laws against printing in FL, and it is up to each individual to research the carry laws of each state that they plan on carrying in. Also they keep calling it "constitutional carry", but it absolutely is not. It is permitless carry & nothing more. The only way to keep your reciprocity is to maintain your permit, which I will continue to do.
@fastford727 I do try to keep up and do research before and even during travel but some states have crazy laws and others are very lax. One example, without mentioning states, you can go eat at an establishment that also SERVES alcohol but can't drink. (Which should never be mixed anyways, carrying and firearms) The very next state your not allowed to enter any establishment that serves alcohol. Ok, fine, but here's the kicker, if that particular restaurant happens to serve alcohol in any OTHER state, it is also off limits in their state, even though they do NOT serve alcohol, and your in violation for even walking in...if caught.
@@fastford727 I was also wondering about notifying a stopping LEO about there being a firearm. Some states want you to immediately and others don't unless asked.
@@newinans Sure, I'll give you Texas as a long time resident and gun owner. We're a true constitutional carry state (no permit required for concealed or open carry however we do issue licenses which have benefits). Rules include: You cannot carry in a bar which derives 51% of its sales from alcohol, these are denoted by mandatory signs posted at the entrance that are red 51% signs (exception for law enforcement while on duty of course). There is a duty to inform if stopped (this means without being asked if armed), I generally go about this by keeping my hands on the wheel until an officer asks for my license/insurance at which point I will tell them "sir/ma'am before I reach for anything I do have a pistol at my 3o'clock my wallet is in my right rear pocket may I reach for it?" I do this simply out of respect if they see my sidearm because its close proximity to where Im reaching for my wallet I dont want them to freak out. You cannot carry while intoxicated in any way (only exception is in your own home). Licensed benefits: You cannot carry while unlicensed within 1000 feet of an active school whereas licensed you can carry up to the doors just not inside. College/university carry is permitted including inside buildings/dorms and classrooms. A Texas license does allow you to skip the NICS background check when purchasing a firearm. The simple gun crossed out signs aka gunbuster or "No Guns" etc signs do not apply to license holders only valid 30.06 (concealed) or 30.07 (open) signs similar to the aforementioned 51% signs are applicable. I can answer pretty much any question about these if you have any others these were just what I know off top of my head.
I am very confused I don’t have a permit in pa where I live we are going to va beach on vacation can I have it in the trunk in separate locked cases? As in ammo and gun in different cases but we have to go through Maryland which is very strict and confusing
What about securde in the topper locked up in the bed of my truck. I have a topper for tools that locks. Can I carry my 9 mil in the locked compartment in a zipped bag?
So my car is an extension of my home but the rules are different. So, i'm getting pharmacies, what am I going to do tell him wait a second let me climb in the backseat and get my gun out of that closed case? once again an example of my government never thinks things through
Thanks for the proactive discussion. Having more clear factual info is always a plus! Appreciate your time and approach to keeping gun owners and the general public safe when it comes to carrying firearms.
Trooper Steve sir. Could you do a video on, how or what you do if you get pulled over by LEO. What we as gun carriers should do as soon as Leo steps to the window.
I just read the bill. You're wrong about carrying in a car That was before permitless carry Now you can carry it on you in the car. Just saying yall need to get this straight because if you take someone to jail for this it's a lawsuit
You took a oath to defend the constitution, shall not be infringed is right there.... you should not be bothering anyone that can carry under federal law and bruen decision.
Your forefathers granted you the 2nd amendment right to bare arms as an American citizen against all enemies foreign and domestic for a reason. Tyranny. Regardless of what this guy says. Your vehicle is the same as your home. You can carry all you want in both and you have the right to protect both.
Level 1 is a passive retention holster. Thus, the shooter does not need to activate a lever, release a snap or push a button to draw the weapon. It is released by a firm tug. This holster holds the firearms snugly by friction. This is accomplished by having a tight grip on the frame as well as the trigger guard. this guy has no idea what hes talking about. don't take legal advise from a cop... the holster he showed is the definition of a level one holster. you know those screws you tighten down? yeah that's called retention so you firearm doesn't fall out when you bend over or run/job.....
So then then you're not allowed to defend yourself while in your vehicle if you do not have a CCW? I note this because (even though FL considers your vehicle an extension of your home) we have so-called permitless carry you cannot carry concealed on your person in your vehicle unless you have a permit and your gun has to be out of reach and encased in a container. How exactly can one utilize their firearm in the event of a carjacking or assault if your firearm is unreachable and in a container? Why don't you just state that you're only allowed to transport your firearm when its "locked up" if you don"t have a CCW? Quite frankly, the whole permitless carry law is useless ESPECIALLY inside of what is supposed to be (according to the state of FL) an extension of your home. I mean, according to you it's perfectly legal to conceal carry as long as I'm outside of my vehicle but if I'm inside of my vehicle and don't a have a CCW it's illegal, that makes zero sense. As a veteran in my mid 60's with an honorable discharge its my understanding I'm not required to take the CCW class and I pay a discounted fee to get a CCW (government permission slip) in order to have the same rights guaranteed by the constitution which I specifically took an oath to uphold and defend. Sounds crazy right? Yet, without a CCW I have to wait a week to pick up my purchased firearm from a retailer even though I passed the criminal background check and have numerous firearms purchased previously. Can anyone give me a reasonable explanation of why I need a government permission slip in order to exercise rights guaranteed in the constitution?
Florida IS NOT A CONSTITIONAL CARRY STATE! Don't listen to this guy unless you are looking for jail time. It is a PERMITLESS carry state PROVIDED you meet the "requirements" for a concealed carry permit. If you would not qualify for a concealed carry permit, then you CANNOT carry in Florida.
Wait....so I can carry concealed walking around downtown but then have to take my firearm out of concealment, put it back into concealment via a holster or ziplock bag....or put it in the glovebox and not only show the thing to everyone but render it useless should I get carjacked on the way home......are you completely sure thats how this law is interpreted?
Amazing how a state trooper doesn’t know the law. You can have your gun on you without a CWP while in your car. Here is the full statue. 790.01, the restricted areas are in 790.06 and there are the same for permit holders and non permit holders at the state level. Unless you have your permit in which case you can carry concealed on your body in your vehicle, and you do not have to have it encased in your vehicle but it must always be concealed.
@20:48 "If you have a holster with a snap on it that constitutes a secured firearm" So the way I carry my handgun in Colorado is ok in Florida except I have to hide it in Florida.
I was told, after training, that I shouldn't carry because I didn't have the internal ability to keep an assailant from taking it from me. That has changed. So we have to PAY $$$ the government to be eligible for Constitutional carry. Suey Cide by cop is a viable option for me. 2A is a DUTY against tyranny.
So let me get this straight, if someone wants to permitless carry in their car they have to take the weapon off of their waist that was concealed and take it out of concealment in order to put it in their glove box or center console? Makes no sense! And then they have to do the opposite if they want to permitless carry?
Florida is NOT a "Constitutional carry state". The legislative body refused to author open carry contrary to the over abundance of citizens wishes. We are now a "Permitless carry state" but until the statues reflect a person's ability to carry any way they wish, anywhere they wish and how they wish its where we are. We have Janet Reno and her propaganda push in the early 80's to thank for not having true Constitutional carry. She pushed out news headlines about "Dodge City Florida" and the state legislators flinched or blinked. Florida is one of the pioneer states to have concealed carry and one day our state officials We send will find themselves man (& woman) enough to give us true Constitutional Carry Hopefully sooner than later with the lawsuit recently filed by GOA for open carry.
Florida does not have CONSTITUTIONAL carry! Constitutional carry generally means that the state’s law does not prohibit citizens who can legally possess a firearm from carrying handguns, (openly and/or in a concealed manner) thus no state permit is required. Does Florida law provide for PERMITLESS carry? No. There are dozens of definitions of these two terms. Each state can define the terms differently! Go straight to the Florida law which purposely does not use the terms constitutional or permitless carry: "790.001 Definitions." (3) “Concealed firearm” means any firearm, as defined in subsection (9), which is carried on or about a person in such a manner as to conceal the firearm from the ordinary sight of another person.” There is no use or definition of constitutional or permitless carry! THOSE TERMS ARE MEANGINGLESS IN FLORIDA LAW. Do not use them. "790.01 Carrying of concealed weapons or concealed firearms." Florida law specifies what can and cannot be done, it does not apply an overall/generalized term to it. “790.013 Carrying of concealed weapons or concealed firearms without a license.” Florida law simply specifies that qualified people can carry concealed. “Florida Statute 790.06(12)(a) A license issued under this section does not authorize any person to openly carry a handgun or carry a concealed weapon or firearm into:” Fifteen subparagraphs follow listing dozens of places in Florida where it is illegal to carry a weapon, including exceptions to this list of exceptions.
@SheFlungDung 1 second ago I appreciate the effort, but you’re wrong on several accounts. We are NOT a constitutional carry state, we’re a permitless carry state. You CAN have a firearm on you, in a vehicle, without a permit….if you are eligible for a permit and just haven’t bothered to fill out the form, take the class and write a check to the state. Retention holsters are NOT legit in the scenario you have. It must have a snap. It’s a stupid rule, but my level 2 Safariland holster is not sufficient. We do have open carry in Florida in several situations, like on your way to/from hunting…camping….fishing. I also take issue with your blanket assertion that you cannot transport a firearm in the bed of your truck. Hunting, Self defense and recreational are not the only reasons to have, own, or carry a firearm. There’s my job requirement, or the original purpose of the 2nd Amendment, etc. Please get some more training in the law that you’re in charge of enforcing

I do understand why these laws are in effect. However, criminals don't obey, and overwritten stipulations of what is and what isn't, has a possibility to trip up a law abiding citizen. Enclosed Case + 6ft. Or something like this. Way to much interpretation. A Suspicious amount. These laws only matter, to those who abide by them. I could be wrong, but sometimes it seems like tripwire for the lawful citizen, who may get a minor infraction for something unrelated, and him and the officer don't get along. What is a distance you can "quickly reach"? If an officer wants to, he will find something. Too unclear + Too much temptation.

Clarify: even with constitutional carry, you can't carry -inside the car- without a permit. Therefore, upon reaching one's destination, the non-permitted, constitutional carrier must retrieve their firearm and put it in the holster outside the car? Clarify.
What about out-of-state CCWs like Maryland?
790.001(15) “Securely encased” means in a glove compartment, whether or not locked; snapped in a holster; in a gun case, whether or not locked; in a zippered gun case; or in a closed box or container which requires a lid or cover to be opened for access. No permit with a pistol in the vehicle? Securely encase it! Have a permit? You can carry the firearm concealed on you. Doesn't take 21:15 to say that.
Excellent , thanks.
You have to immediately respect whatever follows after he uses the word _'purview'_ correctly.👍
He also gives off a sense of integrity (if one can really tell just from listening to someone for a short time). He's the type of officer I wouldn't mind getting pulled over by if I made a traffic violation...which I don't say about many in his line of work.

Skip to 6:38 for him actually talking about the rules, sort of.
We don't have constitutional carry in Fla, we have permitless carry
I can answer pretty much any question about these if you have any others these were just what I know off top of my head.
we are not constitutional carry, we have a permit less carry for concealed carry.
So, i'm getting pharmacies, what am I going to do tell him wait a second let me climb in the backseat and get my gun out of that closed case? once again an example of my government never thinks things through
CARJACKED! NO IDEA WHERE PHARMACIES CAME FROM!
Thanks for the proactive discussion. Having more clear factual info is always a plus! Appreciate your time and approach to keeping gun owners and the general public safe when it comes to carrying firearms.
If only…
Trooper Steve sir. Could you do a video on, how or what you do if you get pulled over by LEO. What we as gun carriers should do as soon as Leo steps to the window.
If you need a whole video on that, you should not be carrying.
@@SOLDOZER i do know for your information. However, there could be changes in the laws, one never knows unless one asks. Thank you
I just read the bill. You're wrong about carrying in a car That was before permitless carry Now you can carry it on you in the car. Just saying yall need to get this straight because if you take someone to jail for this it's a lawsuit
What's the big deal? We have the 2nd amendment in the United States of America. The police have guns in their vehicles.
Why does a piece of paper and A TYRANNICAL TAX make MY CONSTITUTION CHANGE Mr. TYRANNY OATHBREAKER?!?!?🤘🇺🇸🇷🇺🧂
Gators might eat you if you go deep in the Everglades that's why I like this law
Sure doesn't sound like constitutional carry to me.
Your conceal permit is more valuable than your life money here we go again
So glad I live in Texas.
Center counsel ok?
Thank you, Trooper Steve! ❤
And this was passed before this video 👍
You took a oath to defend the constitution, shall not be infringed is right there.... you should not be bothering anyone that can carry under federal law and bruen decision.
Amazing how las contradict themselves just to get us to go tasoa jail
Thank you sir. The video is very clear on gun carry and what is allowed.
Your forefathers granted you the 2nd amendment right to bare arms as an American citizen against all enemies foreign and domestic for a reason. Tyranny. Regardless of what this guy says. Your vehicle is the same as your home. You can carry all you want in both and you have the right to protect both.
Video is full of inaccuracies.
Everyone has a right to cary there weopen
This is incorrect you do not need a permit to carry the firearm on your person in your car.
How does a news station end up with a camera of lower quality than just about any other professional RUclipsr?
At the Federal Level it is prohibited to carry within 1000 ft of a school without a permit, however this is usually something not enforced by local LEOs and usually used as a tack on crime for other federal crimes, still important to know.
Whats the point of having it in the car if you cant get to it fast? Guess ill keep breaking the law.
Talk to your legislators and get rid of the BS "rules" if it's Constitutional then it should be freely carried however
What is the point of having constitutional carry if you can not carry how you please with no permit gtfoh
Florida is not real/true 'Constitutional Carry'!
I’m in Nc and thankfully we are a open carry state.
A most long winded and confusing explanation of silly gun rules i have ever heard!
100% agree.
Wasted my time listening to this guy!
So stupid. Law allows you to carry a weapon on your person outside your car (constitutional carry) but not in a vehicle.
So let me get this straight, if someone wants to permitless carry in their car they have to take the weapon off of their waist that was concealed and take it out of concealment in order to put it in their glove box or center console? Makes no sense! And then they have to do the opposite if they want to permitless carry?
This is literally what I've been doing but I'm being told you don't have to
Florida is NOT a "Constitutional carry state".
Florida is one of the pioneer states to have concealed carry and one day our state officials We send will find themselves man (& woman) enough to give us true Constitutional Carry
Hopefully sooner than later with the lawsuit recently filed by GOA for open carry.
"In" the vehicle means what for Motorcycles????? Without license?
Florida does not have CONSTITUTIONAL carry! Constitutional carry generally means that the state’s law does not prohibit citizens who can legally possess a firearm from carrying handguns, (openly and/or in a concealed manner) thus no state permit is required.
Does Florida law provide for PERMITLESS carry? No. There are dozens of definitions of these two terms. Each state can define the terms differently! Go straight to the Florida law which purposely does not use the terms constitutional or permitless carry:
"790.001 Definitions." (3) “Concealed firearm” means any firearm, as defined in subsection (9), which is carried on or about a person in such a manner as to conceal the firearm from the ordinary sight of another person.”
There is no use or definition of constitutional or permitless carry! THOSE TERMS ARE MEANGINGLESS IN FLORIDA LAW. Do not use them.
"790.01 Carrying of concealed weapons or concealed firearms."
Florida law specifies what can and cannot be done, it does not apply an overall/generalized term to it.

I appreciate the effort, but you’re wrong on several accounts.
This guy is gonna cost his state alot of money
This video advice is not correct. This video should be deleted since it is loaded with misinformation on the law.
Thank you Officer Steve.
1: For taking the time to eloquently/concisely state the parameters Regarding firearms/PPD's
2: Defining clearly, FL law and how it pertains to LEGAL ownership/responsibilities of the owner for a properly concealed/secured sidearm
3: (no particular order) Keeping our Rights legit and much more clearly defining OUR RIGHTS
4: *****Serving the public interests, being involved, and maintaining a very calm demeanor throughout your concise explanations in educating the public.******
5: I appreciate & respect your candor in this matter, sir.
6: THANK YOU, SIR We Applaud you!
*Be safe, guard well.

This is such a great informative and educational video. This clears up a lot of questions I had in regard to constitutional carry.
😂
No. So many glaring errors.
It's not informative at all. This guy gets so many things wrong and it's scary because he's a cop in Florida.
ohboy
You can't even park your vehicle. Jeez.
So much vagueness here. You cant talk about something and leave 1/2 of it out. This person is allowed to arrest people, sigh.....
I hate it when youtubbers talk to the audience as children. Be direct and get to the point.
I do understand why these laws are in effect.
However, criminals don't obey, and overwritten stipulations of what is and what isn't, has a possibility to trip up a law
abiding citizen.
Enclosed Case + 6ft. Or something like this.
Way to much interpretation. A Suspicious amount.
These laws only matter, to those who abide by them.
I could be wrong, but sometimes it seems like tripwire for the lawful citizen, who may get a minor infraction for something
unrelated, and him and the officer don't get along.
What is a distance you can "quickly reach"?
If an officer wants to, he will find something.
Too unclear + Too much temptation.
This guy dont have no right telling you your rights .l have the 2nd amendment.
Thumping music at 8:38 A.M. ? Well that person is obviously high.... no pursuit ... no probable cause?
Or maybe your a rare stand up cop... or you wanted to finish your p.s.a. maybe ....either way ... good.
Rules.. Gun rules maybe ahead of laws here ... EVERYDAY Follow STRICTLY your gun rules, prey the day ends well.
Treat EVERY gun as if it's loaded... never draw your gun, but to save your life or another's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dont need to be a cop .dont now the law
Officer with all due respect you need to reread Chapter 790 specifically section 790.01 and 790.06. You don’t know the law and I urge you to review it before you violate someone’s rights and then get the suit paid out with our tax dollars. If you meat the criteria for permit-less carry YOU CAN carry in your vehicle without a CWP…..
Suppose a family member of a l.e. o.has a substance abuse problem
You’re spreading misinformation
Video is irrelevant now we have Permitless carry
Focus Guy! This video is abput 17 minutes too long and has false info.
This cop is so full of $nit! Misquoting & misunderstanding the laws that they already didn't understand or know is worse than ever. Never ask or trust a cop with questions about gun laws. It's okay for them to arrest you for something that they didn't understand but the judge will tell you ignorance is no excuse of the law. The judge should be telling the same thing to the ignorant 🐷! Get rid of qualified immunity and see how many cops are still on the force after a year.
He sounds like mario lopez
Way to dramatic, get to the point without all the chatter !
This guy is clueless....
