If that's all it is, Schneider's bracket doesn't have a ton of followers to make it work
We have a sea of comedians on this platform known as influencers. Explaining the joke is peak comedy, or it would seem so with all the reaction videos. Everybody wants in on the discussion
Breaking things down that way can work, it would just seem to work best when you hold the clipboard as opposed to doing a bit. Schneider's career seems to have been being rolled up in the gig economy. It's not really his life's work, showing us the scope of humor. He's usually just the buffoon
His bit is literally the Waterboy/Nicky character. He's the part of us that wants to blurt, but normally we wait for the idiot with no impulse control

One of his recurring bits is telling a joke, it not getting a laugh or as much of a laugh as he wanted, then stopping the show to explain the joke to the audience in a patronising manner, scolding them for not getting the joke.

Damn. I watched this show years ago and I remember thinking Rob’s character (who is really just himself) was so obviously sad/pathetic/insecure/self-destructive that it seemed like he had to be aware of it and in on the joke. I think it takes thoughtful maturity to face your own flaws like that and be that self-deprecating. At the time I thought it was a good exploration of a burned out star coming to terms with unmet expectations, but there isn’t a single positive comment here! Makes me want to rewatch it and see if my opinion has changed…

@@alexanderdunning6586I don't think right-wing comedy is only funny when it's being parodied, just like left-wing comedy isn't only funny when it is made fun of. It all just depends on who is delivering the jokes. Shane Gillis is a hilarious comedian who is right leaning. It's funny because he's criticized in this video for his "incredibly racist jokes" getting him fired from SNL and at the time of writing, he's hosting in a couple weeks. It's crazy for a company to publicly fire someone for being "too racist to work here" and then bring them back to run things a couple years later. I have memories of my dad telling me about the Rob Schneider "makin' copies" sketch as a kid and thinking it was hilarious. Upon rewatching it on the SNL RUclips page, I realized the sketch itself kinda sucked and what I actually found funny was my dad's impression of it and the various ways we'd incorporate it into our own life (ex. my mom telling us "would you quit quoting that sketch already?!" and us replying "the mom-sterrrr, gettin angryyyyy").
Professional Comedian Rob Schneider being outdone at his own game by an Eastern European immigrant he'd probably do an offensive portrayal of in an Adam Sandler movie.

While it's true Tim Heidecker doesn't use any overwhelming visuals in his stand-up, it's worth noting that in Tim & Eric, they consistently employ a horrific saturation filter in much the same way that Rob does. The difference, of course, is that part of the joke is how revoltingly orange the characters look; basically, like much of the difference between the two, Tim uses this ironically, where Rob seems completely unaware that he's using it at all

I answered your clarion call (viewers, help write this video's conclusion), and I ended up writing three long paragraphs. I'll spare you, but it all came down to this: I think I am realizing, only in this moment, that conservative comedy kind of sucks because it's self-aggrandizing, swaggering, on the offensive instead of defensive. There's an unwillingness to play the fool for the sake of a gag. The mission isn't to reveal, but to further conceal; it's a bid at being "cool" at the expense of being relatable.
