All I do is dress nicely, keep my car absolutely immaculate, and then I treat everyone like they're the president and I'm driving them around. I help the single mothers with their groceries because I'd rather do that than watch them slowly do it. I back in all the way through the sketchy alleyways, open trunk doors, etc. It is not uncommon at all for my tip to be twice or three times what the fare was. I make about 30% as much in tips as in fares minus expenses. No gum, no water, no mints. None of that stinky stuff, and none of that garbage in my car. Ultra smooth driving; timing lights, fast to speed limit only, obey all laws and make passengers feel like they're safe. That's how you do it. In my mind, I am giving first class limousine style service; people notice, and pay for it.

I did that a few times the mother kept talking how nice my car was and how big the trunk was helped them with the groceries and everything but as soon as I placed the last bag she like flicked her hand signalling me to go away. wtf did she think I was going to do? follow them inside for some tea? no tip btw

    1. I dress professional.
    2. I wash the car daily and spray febreeze and freshener before each ride.
    3. Gotta get the cooler/gum
I’ve been saying that. We also ask if they need to charge their phone.
Good tips. I do all this. I don’t get great tips during the week. I don’t get 30/hr honestly. Weekends I do pretty well.

When people tip . Uber modifies the amount the driver gets.. there's actually people working behind the screen. Uber and all platforms work around the tip the customer gives and these apps try to save there digital money that's what makes them grow..... Uber doesn't care if you wash your car or what you do with your car they just want you to drive these people at a low rate so Uber and the employees can pocket the rest.

Just do 10 rides that pay $30 and you’ll do $300 a day! Be very picky and make sure the rides pay at least $1 per mile and it takes you to a area where the potential for a return trip is high…. This guy is nuts

Even in Los Angeles 30/ride is hard, best bet is airport and even then. Assuming 30/ride weren't uncommon if you are too picky your acceptance rate goes down, then the algorithm is against you, then good luck getting any rides.

@geryquin4214 He's probably not! It depends which market you're driving and he's probably talking about using multiple app choices. If you're just gonna trust Uber for your entire day... you're doing it wrong man! In my market we have the map radar so I'm very picky what I choose and I can say fuch the algorithm! 30's + p/hr

True but also if you are in a downtown area and see many $4-$5 rides coming in take them! You will quickly complete rides, earn small tips and stay in the same area thus easily making over $40 in one hour. If you accept a $25 ride it will take you out of this area and may end up in the suburbs with less rides available to accept. Sometimes those 2 minute pick up to 5 minute drop off can net you more cash as you ping pong around down town. Saturday nights are great to try this tactic.

LMAO you don't get it, the tips are just corrections for the lack of money the passenger shouldve been charged in the first place, your doing extra for less pay, just driving them somewhere when you have a lot more risks than the passengers emotionally physically mentally financially, they should pay more upfront the rides are to cheap, Uber x should have never been created it was only created because Lyft created Lyft standard letting people use they're regular cars not black cars like Uber, even though Uber stole Lyfts idea and Lyft came out first in late 2006 as Zim rides as a RIDESHARE car pull service for colleges, Uber stole there idea and made it passenger oriented, then the owners of Zim rides sold the company, and recopied what Lyft copied, but created Lyft standard which allowed people to use there everyday normal cars, so Uber had to create Uber x, they are both ghetto and cheap, and they brainwash passengers into thinking cheap rides plus tip are normal, that creates an imbalance, when it costs more to drive someone than what they're paying, and the ride is so cheap for the distance and they still don't tip or not enough....there's to many of you newbies coming everyday, Uber relies on the "circle of life" of stupid people, everyday someone is born everyday someone dies, everyday someone has a birthday, which means everyday someone starts Uber, or stops, either by be coming old enough, or quitting or getting deactivated, or dying, then it rotates, Uber relies on this to keep stupid new people coming in

These are actually good tips and most of them actually work for me. The conversation one the most. Also knowing when to drive also. I live in a vacation area where ppl are constantly going to the airport for $20-$30 per trip before tips. Depending on the time of day those trips can take 25 minutes to an hour and a half. Drastically changing your per hour average and the rates rarely change. Great video

I started off doing most of this but then fell into habit of wearing sweats and only cleaning the car once a week. I always keep cozy jazz playing from my Spotify and a pet friendly febreeze in the car to reset. This would get me compliments but rarely a tip.
Today I felt the deep urge to change up and found this video as a fantastic refresher.
I just went out for 2 hours implemented business casual wear, bought 2 bags of mints to add to my Uber driver routine. I only received one tip out of my 3 trips so far and it was a $100 all cash 🎉
I have to go and buy more mints since riders took full advantage 😂

I live and drive full time for Uber… me and other drivers here noticed Uber is taking more and more from each trip! Today I had a rider that paid $54 for their trip and of this I was paid $17! That’s 69% that Uber kept. There has also been no quests offered since Xmas here!
Uber only keeps 25% of each fare and drivers are compensated 75% of each fare in Australia. I know this cuz I met and drove a fellow driver visiting Hawaii.

If you live in Texas a pair of shorts and a nice button up shirt is good enough. It’s 105 outside people will understand. Wash your car by hand. Buy a wash kit and it will save you money. Don’t eat in your car, don’t smoke in your car. I agree with car scent. But don’t buy the ones that smell like candy/sweet etc. black ice is the one known to most people so it will do. Check your car after every ride, it might look clean from glance but you’ll be surprised. People leave wraps from chewing gum in tightest spots. If you gotta drive into a sketchy area and don’t feels safe, reject/ cancel. You have no right to defend yourself in case of assault/ sexual harassment based on Uber policy. But I’d still recommend being a pepper spray. People are wild now days. For safety avoid driving late late nights like 2 am. 90% of your riders will be A. Drunk B. On drugs C. Both which increases your Chen es of being assaulted or harassed by 50%. Stay safe out there !

Dude making the first 3 things sound free XD. Honestly 6 and 7 are the real money makers. tipping is just law of averages, some people will tip, most won't. Those who don't tip (which is most) wont have their mind changed with a water or soda.. If people are tippers they will tip if you do 6 and 7 good.
    1. Have a sense of personality/style and you are golden, just don't look like a bum/homeless or be in your pj's. You don't work for a corporation, so being comfortable is key. dressing business casual can be an unnecessary expense for some.
    2. daily car washes? XD how much is that going to cost you? and if you run it through the gas station car washes, you are scratching the car! if you do that every single day your paint wont last a year. I wash it once a week, and even then I am reconsidering. And I have not noticed better/more tips on the first 2 days after the car wash compared to towards the end of the week when the car is now dirty.
    3. for car smells just carry around some cologne sample bottles. A new air freshener every single shift (I assume you mean day) will also run a big tab fairly quickly.
    4. Is a good Idea but if you pick up a family of 4 that's an awkward trip to the trunk and probably your whole small cooler inventory, and it's still a 50/50 on if they tip.
    5. is good but going above and beyond, I would keep it cheap with just gum that i hand out, if you let people help themselves god bless you lol. A phone charger is also a good idea

This is all such good common sense stuff. The two worst rides I ever had with Uber was an individual in So Cal who continuously used profanity and complained how the Indians were taking over everything with the casinos. The other was a beater of a car that was filthy inside. And the driver dressed like a teenager just getting out of bed. I was pissed in both situations that A. these people were allowed to drive for Uber and B I was stuck with the ride both times due to location and time constraints. I should have left them with one star reviews but I had no interest in sabotaging anyones income stream.

Some passengers are cheap. A ride can cost $100.00 you get 35% of the pay, they ain’t going to give u a tip because some can’t afford to give a tip because ride was expensive. Then you have a cheap ride and u in a poor area don’t expect to get a tip being all cool and nice. If you lucky, a few bucks but not everyone cant afford to tip. Some areas pay drivers more depending on state and some pay crap. You won’t always make the same pay every week. This job is to help you pay your bills. It’s not a quick get rich job.

Here in California Uber charging the passenger a lot of money, so always making the passengers mad. Also most the passenger think we will take all the money for the driver. No it’s for Uber company so nobody’s pay that much tips.

I'd definitely have both a cab camera along with a dashcam. No eating or drinking in my vehicle people are fuken slobs. Respect my vehicle and I'll respect you. Freshener is a good idea along with a clean vehicle presentation. No tats, nose rings, shit like that and be clean shaven. I'd want that passenger seat to be available. Be cordial but if the ride isn't a chatter box don't you be. I not drive past 23:00 and no driving to sketchy parts of town. Be respectful and never racial.
One other thing. Obey all traffic laws and especially relating to smooth driving. Do not brake excessively nor accelerate massively. Use your directionals on EVERY lane change some people notice shit like that (I do). Drive like there's a cup full of water sitting on your dash! Young people don't give a rats but elders notice a pleasant ride without being jerked around. Best vehicles are ones economical with easy egress both front & rear like Kia Souls.

Been doing Uber for almost 3 years now and I’m sorry to say this advice does not work, at least in my area. People are more concerned with getting to their destination more than they are the comfort of their car. The best thing to do is focus on taking rides no less than $10-$12 dollars. Try to take rides that will take you into place that keep you busy.

I’m a little confused. You said rideshare isn’t worth it but you also are giving tips on rideshare? Have you used the solo app yourself to ensure that it’s actually worth it? I do think you are giving out good tips but your page is conflicting to me. Anyways, I average $30-$50/hr in my market and I look like I came from the gym every single day. 😂😂😂 BUT I have wondered if dressing nicer would boost my tips. I’m glad you had a good experience offering drinks.

"your tips matter more on rideshare than food delivery"
umm, no. rideshare actually pays you per mile + time whereas food delivery apps give 0 fucks how far you have to drive or how long restaurants take and pay $1-2 max under most cases.
