Yeah, my instincts tell me the slow part of the song is the high.... the euphoria of the high... then comes the comedown and prospect of having to endure sickness so much that you start doing whatever you have to for another fix. It's the whole vicious circle perfectly captured in a melody and lyrics.

The only complaint I have is: if you like it learn about it. Heyfield has the perfect voice for metal; Lars has Amazing 'Feels' on drums. Mustaine was still with them on this album; lead guitar I believe..... i know he created a lot of their Riffs; but Lars and Hetfield did most of their compositions. Burton was a top 10 bassist of all time when he passed away..... Later they get Newsted for bass then recently Trujillo. After Mustaine left and began Megadeth (after MASTER); their Lead guitar is Kirk Hammott; who has some great instrumentals W an orchestra! Amazing group & its worth knowing artists!! RIP Cliff Burton, gone Way too soon.

I don't listen to Metallica much anymore, but I had backstage passes to them 5 times in the early 90's and so many fun memories. Hanging out in the SF Bay Area where they are from it wasn't unusual to see them out checking out other bands shows too. So many times driving down the highway and passing other cars headbanging to Metallica too.
The entire album is killer. This is one of many great songs off of it. Might make for an interesting album review. Others I'd check out are Welcome Home Sanitarium, Orion, Disposable Heroes, and say... Battery or The Thing That Should Not Be.

A great starter tune one one of the all time metal greats. The great metal bands tackle serious issues, struck out against the man and constructed music with so many layers that it has blown the minds of music producers, vocal coaches, composers etc who have reacted to this. next stop for Metallica I would recommend would be the official video the their track "One" and anti war master piece. Speaking of anti-war master precises, where is my Black Sabbath war Pigs reaction? You said you would. The greatest anti war track on the planet. I have a list of mind blowing greatness to drop on you from those guys, there is a lot of Bluesy funk in those tracks. Metallica will blow you away track after track, the Masters of shredding. The Unholy Trinity of Black sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin were the influence and inspiration to the likes of Metallica and Iron Maiden etc. Other suggestions to blow you away, Iron Maiden Hallowed be thy name, live version from the 80's at Hammersmith, and Deep purple Sweet Child in time Live version to. Jaw dropping and mind blowing. You've been thanking me in posts but you ain't been listening. When it comes to metal I know shit, good shit, with or with out Beer. I just know more with Beer! Yes, this is the point of view of the drug….Metallica and SOAD have the craziest and best transitions in their music than any other bands imo….can u imagine making something so beautiful come out of an instrument?!!!
