Thank you SO MUCH..with this video, knowing the layout with seeing the actual mower, was able to get the belt on without doing more than wriggling the belt around without even tipping the mower to the side..could not believe it worked. THANKS !!!!!!

This is the best "how to video" on how to route the belt drive that you can actually see from underneath. Plus putting the tractor on the side is such a great tip. Thank you!!

A note to the video editor (who I think might be Kerwin P. Slippers), in the introduction where Taryl sez, “Taryl Dactal here...” you should put a large gold sparkle in one of his “tooth’s”. It’d be SO HILARIOUS.
GOOD job, these videos are the epitome of infotainment!!

I got it on and then tried it out and when I let out the clutch the belt started smoking. Thanks again also for showing the inside of the hood where the parts # are.

Ok so if you can't get the 95 1/2" belt go with a 96! I did not know that, i've always erred on the side of a slightly smaller belt. I work in a store that sells belts and they go by whole inches so i've always told people to round to the lower number. I'll remember this next time I recommend a belt to a customer. Thanks Taryl!

You need to get a new belt, yours is stretched out, which they commonly do. I haven't had to replace mine however, for 17 years. Not exactly sure but i think it's a 2003, but here are my numbers on the mower , someone might be able to translate how old it is. 917.270671 lawn mower model #. Markings on Briggs and Stratton: Model 31H777, TYPE 0297E1 , CODE 040126ZD

yah..the confusing part is if the belt goes through the twisted wire keeper near the flat idler. it does not. It will rub when disengaged but not when engaged. btw, my flat idler bearing failed @ 15 years and the belt cut its way through the 3" plastic pulley down to the bearing. i looked for metal ones to no avail. phoenix mfg may have one..part 31305075G if i measure correctly but you need to press/hammer the standoff out of the old one and into new one. not sure if bearing in metal one can be pressed out or is held captive by spot welded sheet metal pulley halves. if anybody tries it, please lmk.

Around 6:30 Taryl explains the mower calls for a 1/2 x 95-1/2" belt. Taryl states to use a 96" and NOT a 95" belt because it needs that 1/2" or more (hence the 96" belt) to shift. And there's your dinner
