    recently had a similar probably with my dlt 2000. it would intermittently not move and moan very loudly. the unit only has 485 hours (pretty low considering it’s 16 years old) and the original drive belt (from crank to hydro) had never been changed. so i changed it (tried without removing the deck, was able to get the belt off but hard time getting back on, so just remove the deck to save yourself the time). the brake and forward/reverse pedals now feel tighter and tractor moves without the crazy loud moans.

    On my cub cadet LT1050 I replace what parts tree calls the “arm control” that is mounted on the transmission and is included in the transmission parts diagram, PART HG-51119. The slot that the shifter from the transmission fit in was worn so when you pressed down on the pedal either forward or reverse it wasn’t actually pushing the shifter coming out of the transmission far enough. I did a temporary fix by putting some small cable ties in the slot.

    Hey Taryl, I have that same crapsman mower with a 54" deck. It was slowing down just like you said, and if I rest my left ankle on the back side of the clutch it would speed up, but I didn't have to do any of that grinding. The clutch linkage had grass on it way up underneath where you couldn't hardly see it that I guess was stopping the belt from being as tight as it should be. Once I found where the grass was hiding and removed it, away she went!
    Love your videos, but you convinced me in another video not to do no small engine repair for other people. If I did, all these guys would be bringing me their riding mowers. Ain't no way I am gonna reach down and loosen some guy's belt and jerk his deck off, he can just do that all himself like I do!!!

    Tim,
    I'm looking to buy one of these, was looking at the craftsman 24hp 54cut, it says 7.5mph top forward speed on the specs. I saw a guy that is running 13mph on a poulon, are these essentially the same tractor? But for a different market? My question is, do you think I could get a craftsman up to 13mph with a deck on it? (Not to mow, but just to get around the property). Most of these are 5.5max speed and this particular model has a 7.5max speed stock. Just curious also if it has been already maxed out and can't get anymore juice out if it to squeeze +5mph.
    Thanks!
    Great vids by the way, funny as heck!

    Good fix and funny a as usua. Hope you can help me out.I just bought a Craftsman Model 917.272263. It is the one with the foot pedals to control forward and reverse same as in this video.I was told it needed a valve job but when I went to pick it up the rear wheel won’t turn. I thought maybe the brake was frozen so I took it apart cleaned it & reassembled it . I was able to move it backwards easy but difficult pushing it forward. The next day it was jammed again. I played around with the brake & it loosened up a little but it is still locked. The bypass rod pulls that out so you can disengage the transmission to freewheel is very loose. I checked it does move the connection on the transmission. Is there any adjustment that can be made that I am missing or am I going to have to pull this tranny apart? I would really appreciate your help. JoeZ

  • @johnaverick7468

    You "Can" get the hydro fluid out of the transaxle if you take the transaxle out. Then we put synthetic 20/50 motor oil in them or a Cub Cadet hydro fluid and they speed up and good for another 5 -10 yrs. of 7 month mowing seasons here in North Central FL.

  • @tonymontana897
    @tonymontana897 3 года назад +2

    Before you do this it would be worthwhile to get under and check if there is any slop in the rod/actuation. I have someone press the gas pedal fully down then try and see if I can push the levering plate on the hydro any more than it already has. If it doesn't budge, then this is all you're gonna get. Same for reverse.

    I have a john deer LX277 hydraulic transmission that started going real slow in reverse. Pully on top of transmission seem to be working.

    I have a challenge for you. I have a YT-4000 Craftsman lawn tractor. The transmission was loose on it and was sent out for repairs. When it came back it goes faster in reverse than forward. (used for mowing a cemetery). I can't see a why it does this other than shortening up the road to the transmission a bit. Any ideas?? I tried it up against a rock and it spun so i assume the belt is okay.

      Maybe the governor has been stretched causing the engine to keep blowing up?.

    My MTD riding mower loses it speed sometimes - I'm going to replace the front drive belt hoping that will give the mower more power - also, I replaced the rear drive belt.

    Hey Taryl could you probably help me with a Craftsman LT2000 that has a side shift. I want it to go faster than it does now but I don't know what to do. It goes around 6 miles an hour right now I want it to go at least 10 if possible. Thanks Man I love your videos
