  • I stain all the logs, clear some trees and mound dirt around the house. This diverted spring melt water away from the house foundation ad floor. I went to California for a fire as an Engine boss on a type 6 engine. I returned the the tent fell down due to snow. #alaskaliving, #buildingahomesteadfromscratch, #alaska, #loghouse

I really like this house better than the one at the other location. Seems like you would not be as afraid in a thunderstorm there as the other place. You MAY think about adding gravel to the base of this house under the floor joists and around the house to keep varmints out. Just a thought. 🙂

You are amazing, hard working and smart. Thanks for sharing your cabin build. Having built my own cabin by myself I can appreciate how much work goes into a cabin build. Best of luck in the future from Colorado ! 💜💜

I'm so happy to see that you posted a new video. I was afraid that you took all the money you got from RUclips and went to a south seas island, LOL.

Your Cabin setting amongst all those Beautiful trees - is just Perfect! You found a good piece of land. The stain that you used on the exterior of you house, really adds character and depth to the logs. What is your elevation? Are you able to have a garden in the summer, in your location in Alaska?

I was thinking about you today when I was sawing out some eastern red cedar with my HM122 sawmill. Thinking how you could cut the logs and build if you enough trees.

I find your builds “confusing”…..I can’t figure out which one is which. Disjointed. Your videos are interesting and enjoyable, but I can’t follow where you are at as I watched the one with the loft and now you are on a log house, plus one in Fairbanks?

Just as a suggestion, dirt will not shed water away from your structure. Water will just drain through.
Best suggestion is a french drain, which is a lot of work and expensive. There are alternatives though such as gravel water barrier, and more gravel. This will need to be sloped away from the structure with drain channels.
