1 Woman Building in The Last Frontier.

I built a frame house in Wasilla this fall and it’s off grid living, using generator and batteries for electricity. I also built a log house in Delta Junction and I’m going to build a house in Fairbanks and have started the foundation on that one. I also share videos of music I made with photos of the scenery out here.

In Fairbanks Alaska I build the log cabin on my property. I feel Meade working under numerous dead birch trees in the area so I cut them down. This will keep me safe of the wind picks up while I’m working in the area and I don’t want them to fall on my house. #alaska #loghouse #woodworking

I’m using the logs I cut two years ago to clear this land and make it fire safe. The foundation I build is made of cement blocks which is 8” by 8” by 16”. I stack them criss-cross and put steel bar in the square and pour cement down into the squares. I dig down to mineral soil and rocks first. I finish the roof overhang for the house in Fairbanks Alaska. It is built out of the ends of the rafters from building this house last year. These pieces gave me a 45 degree angle for the roof. I finish the floor with a rubber and plastic composite type floor that snaps together easily and is water proof. I built a 9 foot by 14 foot addition. I also built a wood shed out of pallets and scrap lumbar. I put the wall tent up. The wall tent would rot if I left it laying on the ground. These projects are on the 3rd house I built and located in Fairbanks. I drove to Delta Junction house and got more scrap lumbar.
In Delta Junction I disassemble a wall tent, install tongue-in-groove, load logs and a cement block.

I sell my camper that sat in Delta Junction and brought it to Fairbanks. I cut a birch tree that is broken in my neighbors yard. I slit it with an electric wood splitter and haul it down the hill and stack it.

I enjoy your channel. You're not afraid to tackle any job. Watching your video about excessive moisture in the cabin- a couple of comments.1) It's possible the wood was still too moist from rain during construction. 2) Wood-burning stoves give off dry heat. So much so that you may need to humidify (add) moisture to the cabin. 3) BUT! a portable propane heater gives off a lot of moisture! A lot! I've seen houses ruined by propane heaters. Mold, wood rot, etc. air
Ok good to know about propane, this vapor barrier was a problem. It may still be a problem as I haven’t been able to prevent making holes in it while working.

It’s going to be another house to live in. I may move into it and rent this house. I haven’t completed it. I almost finished all the Sheetrock upstairs. No video on that for some reason. When it rains I work on it. I had to get these logs off the ground or they will rot. I cut them off this land when I first came here.
