  • I have a hard time staying warm and getting my house heated up after returning from Hawaii. I slide down also. The sun slowly starts to shine more and I will survive! #alaska, #fairbanksalaska, #livingoffgrid

And another couple in alaska get called if there are various road kills usually moose so you could stock up or share with several people one moose or elk could keep you fed a long time though a pretty big job cutting and storing them hey for free if it happens in your area Im sure its as good as or better then beef. Cuz they are totally grass fed and finished sorry state down in the lower 48 since they are hard to find grass fed and finished.

Wow, -40 is hard to comprehend... .. I'm in Australia (NSW Southern Highlands), and the coldest we get in winter is about -7 Celsius.. You are one tough person... Keep up the great work, and stay warm

I never been to Australia and I plan to some day. I want to see the animals such as kangaroo. I watch videos about people getting lost or breaking down the the backcountry and not surviving in the vast hot land out there.

As soon as you walked in you should have built a good fire , we keep 5 wood stoves burning one in the barn one in the garage/ shop and two in the house plus are wood cook stove . once we lite the stoves in late September or early October they burn none stop until late March or April , so far we have burned 11 cords and have about 6 cords left , cutting and splitting is a lot of work during the warm months . This is are 12th year heating are buildings and are home with firewood , that wood cookstove is nice to help keep the kitchen toasty warm the average temp is around 70 f. good luck..?

Thank you. Yes I should have made a fire! I should always leave split wood and paper to start a fire when I leave the house and know it’ll get cold. That was too hard! I didn’t know the propane wouldn’t work in this weather; now I know.
